Not only is that shit the least inviting way for new players to jump aboard a new game, it's also infantile. Valle said something on Twitter about how people played EVERYTHING back in the day and didn't pick sides as much as people do now.
Today, you have people in goddamn bubbles. Ribbing is fine, but people take that shit too far and don't focus on the most important part - supporting your game. Same shit happened when KOF came out. Everyone was promising SNK on how they'd support it and play it all the time just to spite SFV. Now the player base is lower than it really should be (yeah it had online issues but still). If people spent half the time whining about other games and using them to contest each other as they did actually promoting, playing, and growing the scenes then we'd be better off.
But nah, gotta start wars for fighting games. Shit is sadder than console wars.
