Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

Evo caliber? What does that even mean? Are we suppose to get hype because the game is Evo Caliber? This game will never pull the same amount of entrants a Marvel game would if we're bringing up Evo.
I feel like Dragon Ball may come close. Though topping SFV & the Smash games may be a climb.

DBF is going to be the new Marvel. Kids these days grew up with DBZ just like we grew up with X-Men and Marvel.
It's kinda funny to see how ASW is embracing that childhood while Marvel's forcing Capcom to abandon it (at launch).

That means that the game is going to be tuned and balanced to actually be playable in a competitive environment unlike previous DBZ games. That's a big distinction to make because the previous DBZ games were just casual mashfests like the Naruto Ninja Storm games ie. not something you would want at a competitive FG tournament.

I don't know what actually gets you hype if you care about fighting games. As a fan of competitive fighting games, the prospect of having a DBZ game being played at tournaments regularly is very interesting to say the least.

It's all Marvel fault at the end, the ban is awful... glad that it seems to be less brutal these days.

Capcom and Marvel are to blame for a lot of this, though. They didn't market the game properly

They've barely said anything at all. Much like NRS was silent about Injustice 2 up until a few months before release.

Well, it's now a few months before MvCI's release, and judging by the E3 MvCI banners (and the fact that the game will be playable at CEO, probably EVO, probably elsewhere), it looks like Capcom is about to start promoting.

Capcom hasn't even had a chance to "market" the game before people went in on them.

FTFY, though the bolded is questionable.

Firing scale makes a lot more sense than what I said.

Wonder if he'll still have the projectile he tosses at you.

The main difference is Capcom is under a bigger microscope. After the SFV launch, lots of people have simply grown weary of Capcom in general. What NRS does won't necessarily work out for them. Hence why a lot more people were annoyed at the 6 DLC characters being announced when NRS did the same for their 9 when only a certain amount of their roster was announced.

This isn't a Capcom Vs NRS situation. Capcom has to go about things differently because a) Capcom doesn't sell like Nrs, and b) Capcom has a lot more to prove than NRS does.

Weird to be talking about the game when there could be a surprise demo drop tomorrow. I doubt that's the case, though it would be pretty sweet. A (non-surprise) beta makes more sense.

To this day I am sad that people think gamergate and notyourshield were about misogyny

Yeah, forgot about the Capcom side. It feels like they were not even trying with thise choices... sigh

Yeah, Capcom compounded the problem.

But Marvel really cockblocked this time. I don't even hate the MCU, but topics like this might make me come off as if I do. I just don't want it affecting the games we love. There's literally no comic presence in the roster. Did they not expect people to get pissed about this or what?

This ban was incredibly stupid and it just makes me mad knowing what this can mean for an early impression of Infinite.

The FOX ban and the Capcom choices are going to be one of the main problems (if the leak is real)
Don't know if DLC can save it, other than gameplay though.

Doesn't Hawkeye say

Fire Sale! Have...a taste of...the full course! I can do this all day.

I think its fire sale, because he's using so many arrows at once?

Why is everyone getting so territorial with fighting games? Calm the fuck down. We should be celebrating the fact we have so many fighters out within the space of a couple years not bicker about which FG will do better than the other, because at the end of the day it's all highly subjective. Both Mahvel and ASW games have thier fans and they both have the potential to do well.

People just wanna jump on the hate train

Both can coexist; despite the ban not really affecting me, the roster as rumored is thin on staples; Capcom has much more to prove and very little goodwill capital left, and that was before the rumours; we should wait for a hands on and their "plan".

But then again, the best threads were never full of reasoned takes.

One of the things I dislike about this community. It's so silly.

I've always been of the mindset of: more good fighters, the better.

Instead, everyone is obsessively focused on how this game will stomp Marvel instead of just judging DBF on its own merit as a gorgeous looking game.

Ridiculous, but expected.

I wonder if they plan to announce more characters from the 2017 DLC at E3, so people won't be so dissapointed.

I just think its amazing and unprecedented how we have 2 Vs. Series style fighters and a bunch of modders working on rebalancing/updating UMVC3. In a perfect world, it would be awesome if they could all coexist competitively

Have not seen any trailers since the EA press conference because I want to see if I can see them all on the big screen tomorrow. So no opinion on DBFZ

That'd probably just piss more people off lol. "I have to buy these characters separate from the main game! wtf?" I mean NRS announced season pass early, but only had a teaser trailer around launch that revealed 3 of the characters right?

They really should, and a very respectable bundled price and/or freebies for early adopters that don't want to get the deluxe/CE (already got mine). Standard season pass pricing ain't gonna cut it. It would be great to see a plan that isn't cost prohibitive and legit feels like a great deal to people who are looking at this in passing. Those are the types who become spectators and actually help grow the scene among the less invested.

It doesn't need to cater hard to this group from a gameplay perspective - moreso, it just needs to lower the barriers for the here's a bit more for people who don't want to enter tournaments or play online but just wanna have some fun solo or with some buds" crowd.

Yeah we're in the GAF echo chamber but they really do need to figure out how to gain the trust of the casuals back. They leave a lot of money on the table by not doing so - SFV could've been much bigger but I digress.

Now, more than ever I want to see Ryce's leak be unfinished...if not for the reactions from the internet, then for the rivalry between Capcom and ArcSys, Manga vs Comics, DBZ vs Marvel

It would be glorious if both sides were fighting at somewhat equal strength,

They will be equal!

In two years when the DBZ sequel comes and MvCI's had 3 seasons worth of character updates

A few characters being shown at E3 that are absent from the leak is exactly what this game needs. It desperately needs a twist like that.

Would re-energize it for sure. Even if the roster turns out to be correct at the time, switching some characters in and out would do wonders for the narrative around it right now.

SF always changes things up in every iteration whereas Tekken is always the same shit with same old animations but with a few more bells and whistles attached.

NRS is simply at a honeymoon period now before the novelty soon wears off. They are very good at content and modes to attract casuals but gameplay and animation is something Capcom will always be better at.

You did all that work and didn't look at the posts he was responding to. Homeboy is referring to people trying to shit on Capcom games by "using" other titles. Not only is that shit the least inviting way for new players to jump aboard a new game, it's also infantile. Valle said something on Twitter about how people played EVERYTHING back in the day and didn't pick sides as much as people do now.

Today, you have people in goddamn bubbles. Ribbing is fine, but people take that shit too far and don't focus on the most important part - supporting your game. Same shit happened when KOF came out. Everyone was promising SNK on how they'd support it and play it all the time just to spite SFV. Now the player base is lower than it really should be (yeah it had online issues but still). If people spent half the time whining about other games and using them to contest each other as they did actually promoting, playing, and growing the scenes then we'd be better off.

But nah, gotta start wars for fighting games. Shit is sadder than console wars.

i don't think either me nor emc expect to coexist with anything when it comes to marvel inf vs. AE or project marvel, haha. mvc3 is gonna be dead as a doornail even if marvel infinite sucks shit, and then who knows what'll happen with DBZ coming right around the corner

thanks for the shilling opportunity though since i just made a dumbo twitter account for some reason

If someone not on the leak shows up, we'll go crazy. Hype would be restored IMO.

Like, even a DLC character from the upcoming season pass would do wonders for the game's hype levels.

But if they ended up showing a member of the X-men...

Well...
If X-Men are on the base roster, I'd go nuts literally lol

This is exactly how I feel. I think its really sad that people always use some other game as a way to insult another. Just play and support what you like.
