Agreed.
Some games still fail hard at sense of speed...even when it says you're going fast. You look at videos of racers and you see them bouncing all over and the steering wobbling like crazy.

Both the bonnet and dashboard cameras look damn good. Sound is fantastic especially on bonnet and you get a bit better vision but the dash cam is really immersive.
Does it try and be simmy with the slow speeds? Accelerating normally ... or is it all fast?

Just stop. I don't think you can even keep up with what you're saying/have said at this moment.
You tried to prove something that is completely subjective by citing certain sites and calling some of the views of said sites the majority opinion, and then in turn tried to imply it was fact just because the majority of people believe it. Which, I might add, you have no way of proving.
Moral of the story? Opinion =/= Fact. Using opinions of select individuals on select sites as a way to objectively prove a game's gameplay is "ok" is dumb.

It feels all fast too me. The sense of speed is amazing, I have to concentrate so hard. Here's a short clip of me racing through some tunnels, the sense of speed mixed with the blinding light when exiting the tunnels was exhilarating.

Seems like Evo is trying to imitate what a camera POV would see when driving through rain at night, in which case it is a pretty good representation with the white rain streaks. But like Gestault said, there's no drastic visual cutoff to the verticality of the headlight illumination, so it's not an exact replica.

Lovely example. I'm pretty sure Evo will continue to tweak and improve the tech side of DC during this year.

Well Ray, it does seem like a narrative to me though. Game has best graphics of all time, so let's shit on the gameplay. It happened in some of the recent Wii U graphics threads and also in this one. Criticising gameplay in tech threads is weird, but it is easy enough in the case of Drive Club due to the launch debacle. While I think most people who invested more time in the game fell in love with the gameplay, some people will probably never get over the negative reviews. Due to agendas or whatever it might be.
I also have both games and have played them extensively.
DC is almost a generation apart on graphics. It's easy. I still loathe playing it though. Handling fee way off,cause there's seems to be a threshold where turning snaps all the way.

Driveclub is an average game. 71 on Metacritic from 84 professional reviewing sites. 38 rated it as average. No one gave it a perfect score and of the 4 nines and above, two were from PlayStation sites.

It might not be 100% accurate but its certainly more exciting to drive into those lit up particles the way it is now.

So metacritic is the be all and end all? Metacritic is a collective of opinions, using them as a way to objectively prove that DC is an "average" game is ridiculous, and pretty damn ironic.
If I say right now that DC is a great game...what then? If I find a hundred other people that agree with me...what then? Will our opinions be void because we aren't "professional reviewing sites"?
People like you just don't get it. You can't say DC is an average game matter-of-factly because a few sites say so. The moment someone disagrees with you is when your claim of something being a fact falls flat on its face.
The majority of reviewers on metacritic think DC is an average game =/= DC being an average game.
Man, people who treat metacritic as gospel fucking saddens me. Not to mention the fact that DC now is a much better game than it was two months ago. So you can keep your metacritic scores.

First of all, metacritic is like ********. Don't use it.
Secondly, a huge part of the gameplay, the connectivity between you and your friends, the challenges, the Face-Offs with your friends... I'm pretty sure that didn't work back then the way it was intended.
And a lot of those reviews remove points because of the online issues (not all, but some)

I must say the more I play it the more I agree. Was on a track earlier with a bump in the road that sends me a good foot or so in the air, as I land with the engine roaring and controls ready to snap out of control if I don't keep it together adds together to a pretty great experience. DC is a game that gives a poor first impression IMHO and you grow to love.
Made a video comparison of pCARS and Assetto for those interested in these sims.
I really like the windshield in Assetto with all the marks that come out in the sun, but the over-all look is much more realistic in pCARS, Assetto seems to bright and over saturated.

try the atom on a wet surface, your palms will be sweating at the end of the race...if you can keep the car on the track
I've lost more races in SP races because of shitty cornering & exit speeds than GT, so I don't think you need to worry.
Top speed in a hypercar (indeed everything above the hatches) is a scary and exhilarating as it comes. Notably on the P2P races - there are some insane full chat downhills where you really feel lie you're riding on the edge.

It looks like the real light glow is coming from the cloud that the bolt originates from, while the glow in the reflection is from where the bolt strikes.
Could be. That would explain why some pics have it and some don't. Whatever they're doing it's a really convincing effect, especially in motion. I want rainbows now too.

Here's a comparison of snow.
There is something not quite right about the bottom gif. It's almost like there are lights mounted at the top of the car which illuminate the rain/snow as it hits the windscreen. Sure the headlights would light up ahead of the car, but illuminating as it hits the windscreen? It's like the light source comes from inside the car.

In photo mode the cone of illuminated rain and snow is a little excessive, but it is a real volumetric area, not faked assuming a POV or something.
Obviously you can find lots of areas of improvement comparing real footage. For instance the oncoming rain appears to originate at a point, thus the streaks appear to be levitating. Another point: at 200kmh speeds there is no way you'd see streaks of rain or snow but the DC rain and snow behaves rather like it would in slow driving.

Is that steam coming off of the tires in the rain or just water spray? On a normal car I'd say it's just spray but F1 tires I could see building up a lot of heat from the amount of friction they're constantly under. Anyone?

30fps is graphically a huge downgrade compared to 60fps.
But does it have weather?

Because, as it has been said before, as much as some hate to admit, 60fps is NOT necessary. Sure, it's nice, but it's not the end all be all.

That is rubbish, sim racers need 60fps minimum, if it's less it's not a sim but an arcade driving game.
I don't understand how a comment like that can be made....
So why is super advanced graphics necessary? It doesn't directly affect gameplay, 60 fps does though, and quite significantly.

I wasn't talking about sims. Just racing games in general. Hell, if fluidity is so necessary for sims, why not have the graphics be mediocre, put all the effort into the physics/handling, and run it at 120fps? Wouldn't that make 60fps seem slow in comparison?

They do for the most part (iRacing, pCARS, Assetto). Most decent computers can run these games at 60fps and above easily. I think the advantage diminishes above 60fps, but the more is always better.
The most intense racing I have done is with Assetto, POV at 55, the helmet mod on and the head shake mod. You feel like your actually in a race car with limited view screaming around a race track (I have driven a race prep Falcon around Queensland Raceway, that's what I compare sims to), it's awesome.
Any genre with fast motion benefits from higher framerate, arcade or sim doesn't matter. 60 fps is the standard because the majority of households have 60Hz TVs that can't display higher refresh rates, and also HDMI isn't really capable of transmitting 1080p signal at 120Hz or higher. Maybe the very latest ones can, not sure.
The argument is that 60 fps gives better perceived quality to the footage than nicer effects.
At this rate, the thread should be retitled "Next-gen Racing 60FPS Gameplay Face Off". I'm still amazed by how desperate some posters got when they fail to prove PC looks better than DC. So when all else fails, move on to gameplay instead. Good grief, this is looking more like Gamespot or IGN than Neogaf

i lumped him into a certain category when he said some nonsense about gt5/6 on ps3 looking better than driveclub however many pages back.
I do remember a guy saying GT looks more natural but was it really him? If so, he clearly has an agenda against DC or something. It really makes you wonder if he actually played the game.

Insecurity is the reason. It is alright to admit that pcars looks worse on PC compared to Driveclub. It is not a slight against the PC platform's obvious superior capabilities at all. Driveclub looks better and is king for now. I am sure future racers will come on both consoles and PC that give it some serious competition going forward.
