DF was talking up Horizon Remastered as the best looking title and most impressive. I bought it based on this since it was a $10 upgrade.

What a mistake. This game looks dated and within the first minute, I experience shadow glitches in the cutscenes. It looks like a PS4 game on a PC emulator where it forces higher resolutions. I don't even like this series so this was a giant waste. Nothing is super impressive about any of it. Horizon 2 looks incredible on the Pro though.
Haha I wouldn't agree with this completely but I would agree that forbidden West will make your jaw drop and I had been testing Zero Dawn yesterday. Was epic.

Funny enough I enjoyed Zero Dawn more as a game but West is a graphical stunner. I just was expecting a night and day how DF talked it up.

You think most of us buying a Pro won't trade them for a PS6 whenever it comes out? Enjoy the 3/4 year wait, although I suppose you can help fill the time by wandering into threads about the Pro and posting 'overpriced' until then. :messenger_winking:

And in answer to the actual thread, really enjoying mine! Can hear the fan but only if the room is silent, and no coil whine thank god. Dragon's Dogma 2 plays completely differently with the new modes, have also spent some time on F1 24. Have wishlisted Stellar Blade, which looks simply astonishing and that's just on YT.

Gonna be a good weekend!
If you think that £700 isn't overpriced, I don't know what to tell you. It's extremely overpriced. But if you have the money, go for it. I'm not knocking you. Just I'd rather wait for a true upgrade than a slight upgrade for a massive price increase. Plus, you'll probably only get about £350 back if you trade it in when the PS6 comes out... and most stores in the UK won't do it straight away. I don't mind waiting.

For health of the console, is it better to have it vertical or horizontal? Does it not matter?
Debating if the stand is worth it.
Possibly worthless anecdote (I may just have a lemon) but my shit overheated three times in the span of like 20 minutes while I had it vertical. Put it horizontal and it’s been fine ever since (heavy use).

I was about to buy it just to see but I feel the same way about the series. I'll just play other stuff

The sound the machine makes when in-game, and you've paused the game, is really bad. It's fine while you're playing because the sound effects and music drown it out. But if I have a game paused and want to browse the Internet for a bit, I have to actually go into the Dashboard to get some relief from the noise.

Joel, something tells me that unfortunately, you lost the fan lottery brother...☹️

My original PS5 had some minor buzzing (coil whine?) when sitting close to it so I was actually very surprised when I set up my Pro yesterday since the thing sounds like it's not even turned on - pretty much like the XSX I used to have.

Fucking Sony man, why can they put their shit together ? This noise thing is something that's been happening for two generations now...

Does it sound any different when you're actually pausing a game? It's so distracting I might ask Amazon for a replacement, but even then if it's just a lottery...

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
It’s a great machine.

However it’s just being used by my half-blind wife (only her brown eye is special) to play Fallout 76.

Not sure when I’ll get around to playing with mine for a few minutes and go “oh neat” and then go back to playing old games on my laptop.

Wasnt John talking about Horizon 2 though?

Let me try some more games and I'll get back to you brother okay ? 🙂

What specific, taxing games would you like me to try ?

I've tried it on COD, and Dragon Age. Here is video. The coil sound isn't this loud in reality, but as you can tell, it is significantly louder when in-game than in dashboard. I never had this issue with the original PS5.

I can afford it easily so I got one and sold my launch day ps5. If in any way it would be a financial effort, I wouldn't bother upgrading. Anybody who says anything else is lying, imo. For now, at least.

Played a bunch of Rise of the Ronin today. Performance mode looks real good now. Frame rate isn’t a solid 60, but still way better than before.

Demons Souls is also a very nice improvement.

Very happy so far.

Is there a difference when you're on the dashboard compared to running a game? Do you have Dragon Age?
I'll be damned, mine does it as well.

Just put my head next to it and I do hear that sound from your video when I'm in a game (both Throne & Liberty and Blops 6).
When on the dashboard, it's just very faint blowing of the ventilation.

Didn't realize yet as I'm not too close to my Pro.
I can see how people notice it when you're sitting closer to the system and it's quiet around you.

What? it definitely doesn't look dated, it's one of the best looking games out there.I'm playing it on PC,but I can't imagine it would look any worse on the PRO

Yeah, it's really just now that I found out. But only when I stick my head next to it.

I can see it bothering people or maybe raise some concerns, but it's probably normal.

The sound is also very different under Fidelity mode. It's worse in Performance. It is so disappointing. I can't keep it like this. Will try to arrange a 'fix' at a local store which has experience with repairs. If that doesn't work, I'm going to send it back to PlayStation.

That character model looks dated. I don't know if PC has the 2nd one but this doesn't look that great compared to the 2nd.

Are you playing or is it in the title or a menu screen? It's possible that the game uncaps the frame rate like Nioh used to do on PS4. It would make the fan go crazy

OK Joel did some test with RE4Re in both RT and high framerate mode, RE2Re and RE3Re both in high framerate mode (120Hz target), Space Marine 2 and the newly released Dead Rising Remake demo and...console is dead fuxking silent like a Xbox series X pretty much, I'm actually surprised since, again, my GOW Ragnarok bundle PS5 console had some audible coil whine (nothing major though).

Unfortunately, you appear to have had bad luck , sent it back to Amazon ASAP (thank your stars that you got it from them 😉).

Hope your next Pro is silent, cheers !

PS : maybe it's some specific games that trigger that coil whine ?

Yeah it's definitely not Forbidden West, but it still looks great.Rost looks the same as the original to me

Another feedback after some additional playtime today.
Console is great. I mean I started playing when I was a kid at the arcade with Pong. Graphically, 4k 6 60fps with nice visual is a dream. Everything is snappy, I never wait. This is awesome.

But there is a big issue for me , that I haven't encountered with my previous consoles : the prices on the PSN are horribly high. I mean for games which are 3+ years old, it's frightening.
I wanted to start playing TLOu2 as my first game. I just had to cancel this option. Because I need to wait for a sale. As a second option, I decided to buy House of ashes, because it was €9. I think I'm about 80% and I have a good time with it but I'll have to wait for TLOU2. I saw that FFVII remake intergrade is at €18 so I'll probably play that next but rebirth is at a staggering €70 !
This is an issue. I know there is physical, but I have no drive and been used to digital since 2 gens. Guess the trap is closing on me for my laziness....😱.

It's pretty evident by his post he is favouring and hinting that there is zero point of a PC, because the Pro is 'just as good'

It just isn't 🤷‍♂️

And this is coming from someone who just bought one, but has a better spec PC.
Don't put words in my mouth that are unfaithful and treacherous.. I did not say it's on par with PC. I said it's close enough for me to not bother. If the difference is appreciable for you, up to you. I chose differently.

Just a question for you guys; does the PSSR difference is actually more noticeable live in your TV than any comparison 4k videos we can see on youtube right now? Because honestly , beside Final Fantasy, I pretty much see no difference and it's a bit surprising to me.

Like you said, just wait for sales, besides, what did you expect, new games to cost 50 Euros/squid/dollars ? We're way past that point mate...
FF7 Rebirth was 39.99 a couple of weeks back, Resident Evil 4 Re was 17, Returnal, DeS remake (those 3 year old games) go as low as 30-somethin' during some sales and as for TLOU2...I got it for 10 Eurodollars (yes, 10) during some sales last year.
The only games I got full price this year were Monkey game and space Marine 2.

Also : there's digital stores on the intrawebs which sell gift/wallet fund cards for less than their actual value, as an example, I get 50€ wallet fund cards for 39.99.

Just be patient

Tested a few games and the two that are standouts:

RE2 remake. You can now do ray tracing mode and it’s not 45 FPS, it’s 60. Glorious.

FF7 Rebirth. Image is so giga sharp and not blurry at all now.

Just downloaded the whole RE saga :
RE2Re, RE3Re, RE4Re, Resident Evil 8 village as to give to give the RT, 60fps modes a go 😉

PSA : hair strands in RE4Re get deactivated when playing The Mercenaries mode for some reason 🤔 (guess it's due to the higher enemy count and general mayhem that the mode has).

Did anyone test out Avatar? it had a large DRS range of 1800p to 1296p. Basically 75% FSR scaling all the way down to 58%. is the PS5 Pro looking sharper than it did before in quality mode?
Would check if had disc in pro :messenger_grimmacing_ Checked briefly re4 resolution mode ray tracing and resolution is notable higher on pro also 78fps vs 50, so 56%, there is potential in hw.

Difference is night and day on a big TV. Really obvious in all the major titles that have a Pro mode.

I *wish* we had the PS5 Pro in hand.

Fucking Amazon still hasn't even started shipping my Oct 10th order, and because the original delivery date they put on it was Monday, they say it's still on time. But if I had ordered on Thursday it says they could have delivered on Friday. What? Assholes.

I do appreciate all the impressions, though. Haven't had a playstation in 4 years, so I have a ton of exclusives to get through. Wish Gran Turismo 7 was already patched, as I want that to be my staple podcast listening game.

I tried it with Cult of Lamb, too, a smaller game. Same issue. It isn't better with less demanding games.

Mystic here demonstrates my issue really well. The coil whine is present, especially during Performance Mode, but improves when suspending the game.

I spoke to Amazon. While they are happy to refund it, they cannot replace it due to their 1 order per customer restriction on the item right now. So I'll have to just shop around different stores, and try my luck. Really disappointed.

When the menu is uncapped it doesn't matter what the game is. It could be the least demanding game and it will still cause the fan and possibly the power draw to go crazy. For example, in Nioh, when you went to visit the blacksmith it would happen but never during insane boss fights. Just an idea. Something to test with your games.

Anybody else just getting tons of download/install errors?

At first it was DNS.

Now it just will shit the bed and force me to resume or restart downloads.

Never had this with the OG digital

I just can't bring myself to care at all about this. It took me two years to get the original PS5, and I imagine it will take me two years to get the PS6 when that launches.

:messenger_smiling_hearts: :messenger_smiling_with_eyes: I love my PS5 Pro. Mine came with a defective controller but Gamestop replaced it free of charge. It does everything I wanted it to do which is make my existing PS5 games look and run much better.
