PlayStation cloud streaming is very impressive

I've never seen any waiting screen in my life. I'm sure it's not a recurrent thing otherwise we would hear about it more.

Also...comparing streaming games with streaming a video that you can't interact with makes no sense.
That’s good, but as the service grows and more people join in I assume more such cases can/will occur. Especially for new very popular releases, which is also unfortunate.

I have no idea, I’m just curious. But I guess that’s a “no” on the issue being solvable?

Ridiculous, imagine starting Netflix to watch Squid Game or something and you can’t because a lot of people are already watching.

Does anyone know if this could be eliminated entirely in the near future? Or are games just cursed with this compared to music/movies?
The above photo is when PlayStation introduced Cloud streaming with Portal. I guess lots of people tried this new feature at once, hence the waiting queue.

Other than that one instance, I've never seen or heard of this screen with PS+ Cloud Streaming.

With xCloud, it's a common occurrence.

Having said that, yes, it is ridiculous, which is why this future of cloud gaming sucks.

The truth is that it is surprising how much better the PS streaming is than the Xcloud of Xbox.
It's a matter of cost. Right now, companies are losing money with cloud. Playstation only allows access of cloud through Playstation consoles and now the Portal through their own subscription service. It's a relatively small group of people compared to Microsoft which has cloud gaming available pretty much everywhere, including every PC.

Microsoft has been probably been waiting for the financials to make sense before coming of their cloud beta and making it a subscription service like others have. It sounds like they are doing just that with their recent "This is an Xbox" marketing campaign

I heard Xcloud is poop. Have they upgraded it. The digital foundry video on it showed how shit it was vs PS streaming

Yea, new to me. I used XCloud a year ago 🤣

Tell me you are clueless without telling me you are clueless 🤣

Shut up and BLEED you motherf....

So you never tried them huh.

Look at above post, WHORE.

GeForce Now >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> XCloud >>>>>>> PlayStation
The fact you say Xcloud is better than PlayStation proves you don't know what you're saying.

You are saying what you think SHOULD be the case, but it is very clearly not. PlayStation streaming works Much better than Xbox and that's just fact.

I once paíd for xcloud to play hellblade 2 and that garbage was awful. Money thrown directly to the trash bin. I was pissed off.

Disclaimer: I was in Texas about 1 year back, close to a central server located in Austin for both GeForce and MS with 2GB Fiber and 1 ms latency. Not sure where the PS one is but all felt like I was playing local. My issue with PlayStation was the games on offer, not the service itself since I've played an finished alot of Sony games and am new to being a Green Rat. Ask for CONTEXT you fucking whores.

No it isn't.

Are you ok? Sounds like you used GeForce Now 2 years ago on the highest tiers. Here's what it looks like now and this is without the upgrade of 240 FPS and Reflex for Premium Tier.

It also works in a country without any servers albeit high latency, I'm in Pakistan right now and my games still work. XCloud and PS won't even load.

I know bro. Not everyone can handle my sexy.

Try is near a good server blade.
This reminds me of the few people who kept trying to convince people Stadia was the best thing ever and would take over the industry.

I have played GeForce Now, Xbox Cloud Gaming and PlayStation Premium streaming all on a wired connection and WiFi on my Steam Deck. GeForce Now is amazing and Xbox Cloud is a very close second. PlayStation Plus is good on a wired connection, but the app on Steam Deck is extremely buggy. Sony just needs to fix the app and it will be much better.
Troll much?

I was talking about the Cloud when you people were still crying about Physical distribution. Go back. Still a GeForce Now Founder. Was the first to play on Gakai (PS Now), Beta tester for XCloud. And I fixed the first post btw.

Stadia was amazing in terms of tech minus its business model. No one is going to start a Cloud library when they have backlogs from 2009. Doomed to fail.

Yeah, I just can’t see it ever becoming the equivalent of Netflix/Spotify if this sticks. Doubt people would use those services if you had to queue to watch/listen to things.

Not that it needs to though, it’s a nice bonus feature either way of course, but I’d imagine that’s the vision for most companies.

Its an easy albite a costly solution for any provider.

Sony should aim for their servers to maintain a maximum around 100m users max at a time.

MS in the other hand should aim for 6 users max at a time 🤣

Only sony streaming service i tried was with their retrogamimg stuff with ps2 games and it was dogshit even with a superfast wired connection, maybe they improved since then...

So I just tried this after signing up for ps premium, and I’m pretty blown away… way better than xCloud and Gaikai back in the day

AstroBot was perfectly playable with a great looking image. Honestly felt no different than streaming from my ps5 using remote play, maybe even better

I wish they would open up PS Portal to individual games I own and not just the Game Catalog, is that because it’s still in beta?

I doubt people here have used all 3 and are just trolling.

Geforce Now is overpriced... having a cue system and also limiting how long you can play is a complete joke
SONY Cloud is better but is scope is limited at the moment. X Cloud got a lot better recently, but it still takes far too long to start an actual game, to its credit,t it works even on a cheap Fire Stick or crappy old phone
Also, what I like is how all your data from saves to download content is synched and you can carry on from when you left off on your console or PC after you've done with the mobile and playing on the move

I haven't tried Amazon Cloud gaming yet mind

I tested out GeforceNow and I thought it was near perfect. I had no problems with it at all and I couldn't even tell I was streaming. I didn't play that long though.

I've tried out PS Cloud and thought it left a lot to be desired. I haven't tried xCloud.

When I bought my shield I had an offer for a month's free subscription to Premier Geforce now and while the tech was nice I was amazed to see a queue system being used so that put me right off.

I sub to both GamePass Ultimate and also PS+ and have tried Cloud on both. Sony Cloud is nice but its scope and where it can be used it limited at the mo. X Cloud got a lot better of late and while I still think its a joke that its still in Beta. I was impressed with how well it synced all your data and saves and you can just carry on from when you left off playing on the console or PC.

Not that I game much on the move with YouTube and Prime Video on my phone and that's what I look to use

Given another chance
The added latency on controls means streaming games as opposed having them downloaded or physical will never be an option for me. The latency added from just HD TVs and games with poor frame rate is already bad enough as is.

Nice shill thread though.
That is…until you’ve tried Nvidia Reflex.

PlayStation needs to implement this technology in their rendering pipelines. Badly.

How long ago? What were your issues with it?

Probably around August 2023 when they announced 4K Streaming. There was a lot of discernable latency and I wasn't in love with the IQ.

When I bought my shield I had an offer for a month's free subscription to Premier Geforce now and while the tech was nice I was amazed to see a queue system being used so that put me right off.

I also got a free month or something like that, I played it through my LG TV. I never had to deal with the queuing though.

I'm surprised neither company has reached the standards that nvidia set. That being said I only tested it out of curiosity. I try out most tech to see where it is. I've owned pretty much every major streaming media player on the market, largely for testing purposes. I was really disappointed the the Shield, but love the Apple TV.

I think there are a lot of things you'll probably see implemented on PS6. Something along side Nvidia Reflex as well as what amazon did with their luna controller having it be wifi enabled to reduce latency. I was surprised that it didn't seem as though the Portal do anything to reduce latency. At least nothing significant.

I got a free month sub when I got my Shield from Curry's (Uk shop) There is a queue system and I have seen others say there's also a time limit on games not that was on any game long enough to see that.,
Sony and Xbox cloud gaming both have good and bad points

The one that impressed me the most was Google Stadia but it never had Gamepass or PS+ line up of games to back it up

Can you try old stuff like infamous 1 and 2?
Last time i tried they were dogshit unplayable and i have a super fast internet connection.

Yeah, I too have been very impressed with the PlayStation streaming.
It certainly is one of the best streaming services.
The Xbox version I found to be surprisingly weak in comparison.
Last time I tried the Nvidia service it was also pretty damn good.

I tried Infamous 1 and 2 and it's rough. I am not sure if it's because of how old it is....this stuff is running on PS3 hardware for streaming which may not work as well as modern methods of streaming on modern hardware. Latency was worse, graphics are awful, it's also 30 fps.....PS3 stuff hasn't aged well

I tried out Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection on PS4 and it was a lot better. Way more responsive and clear. That game was running on PS4, so maybe PS3 isn't good for Streaming versus modern stuff.
