Another benefit people haven't discussed is that you could use it at home while someone is playing the PS5 (not the same account).
This is really the main benefit to me. Cloud through servers or my own ps5 doesn’t really matter to me. Being able to use the portal and my ps5 though is pretty valuable to me.

could be useful for slower paced games like silent hill and rpgs etc, playing Spider-Man 2 or any action game via streaming just feels off.
Other than not having back buttons it's really a good experience. Ive been using it to play some side quests in Stellar Blade and it's not a struggle with timing or parry

Man, I still remember the subreddit for the portal, everytime someone mentioned the (very real and existent) stutter all the usual suspects would go :
- It's your router
- It's your McDonald's internet
- sucks for you, I don't have any problems whatsoever
😁😁

Not noticing it would be equal to not perceiving framerate drops.in games, OLED judder in films (and 30fps games), UE shader compilation stutters etc etc...

Not a dig towards you brother but for me and many others the problem was so big that we had to sell our console, but the worst thing ? is/was being called "crazy" and/or hyperbolic by those that couldn't see it.

Consider yourself lucky 😉

For the people who see it does it happen all the time or is something that happens randomly or under different lighting conditions & so on.

Eh, I beg to differ.

I'm wrecking in Blops 6 on Portal against PC all the time and getting top player/best plays on a regular basis.
A game like Demon's Souls is completely playable as well, as are other actions games.

Is it as flawless as playing on tv? No.
But some people act like it's difficult to play those kind of games on Portal while it's not.

No. Doubt they'll make any PS5 Pro blades. Doesn't make sense to do so.
Yeah, figured as much.

Not worth it then, imo. Not when I know how much more fluid games play on Portal when the source is running in 120hz/fps.

Edit:

Obviously talking about graphical boosts as well.

All the time, periodically. Because of difference in refresh rates at some point frames aren't properly aligned and it stutters.

I didn't come in this thread because I thought it was a wish post. Was shocked because I've been waiting for this from day 1.

Turn it on and there is no update for me.

Oh man, the PS Vita would've been so good had it been able to stream PS3 games out of the PS Now catalogue back in the day...

PS streaming (PSNOW) was horrible back in the day when they tried it with gaiki. Assuming infrastructure wasn't there yet.

Mine didn't even work that well with cable. Picked up fiber and couple years ago and huge difference.

The stutter is noticeable, the question is whether or not it bothers you.

I notice it, but imo the experience is fluid despite of the stutter.
For others, it's a deal-breaker.

The stutter is really bad for me when I play eafc (cannot replicate it with chiaki on deck) but not noticeable or barely in single player games.

Just streamed dying light 2 from the cloud. I'm also working so I don't have enough time, but I could not reproduce the usual portal stuttering in the 3 minutes I tried. Take this with a grain of salt as more testing is required. For the record, the stuttering has always been very obvious to me.

I've seen others say it's been fixed aswell. I can't confirm as I never noticed it.

This would mean that if true, it should be possible for Sony to solve the stutter through RP, right?

Or am I missing something?

Well, I'll be damned fucked, apparently they did fix the micro stutter...AND IT ONLY TOOK THEM 1 YEARRRR !111!!

Fucking unbelievable man, the things these companies get away with...The "release it now, fix it later" motto is truer than ever these days, it's literally inexcusable...
Of course, they waited until another money-maker feature could be introduced (cloud streaming/needing a 120€ sub) 'cause fuck normal users, am I right ? They only had to wait 1 year !

Anyway, I sold the damned thing 1 month ago having waited 7 months for them to fix it, my 12.4" Tab s9+ will serve me well - if not better - compared to the Portal.
Shame about the lack of Dualsense haptics/vibration but I'm using my DS connected directly to the PS5 as to remedy that so...

I'm almost curious to read the comments from the usual non tech savvy bootlickers on the subreddit, if I were to guess it'll be the usual denial in the form of "lol, it was never there to begin with"/"Never had the stutter, happy for you though" etc etc...

Either way, enjoy GAFers, they finally fixed it so I suppose that's something 😉

Well, I initially noticed improvement in the stutter, but then tried Diablo and noticed some stuttering, could be the game itself however. I tried Horizon and Callisto Protocol and both seemed alot better. Still occasional hitches but could be local issues.

Most impressive was cloud streaming, it felt even smoother than local play which is mental. Tried Dredge and Ghost of Tsushima, fantastic, looks extremely crip and if there is significant input delay I didnt feel it. Impressive tech.

Few things a bit weird like when Trophies pop you dont get any details just says x trophy achieved. also no PS menu when playing games. Interestingly it says PS3 games arent available but resistance shows up. Odd.

Sony needs to release a Portal Pro, OLED with HDR at €350.

If possible for that price 120hz as well.
