Project M Demo: Smash Bros. Brawl with Melee Gameplay! [Update: Out Now]

I understand this is just a hobby for you guys. Like I said, I still appreaciate it. I just feel like the last time there was a wait around this long (2.0/1 > 2.5 was maybe one more month IIRC) there were 4 new characters, a new mode (crew), and new features (strking, audio dampening). In comparison (and I think a comparison is fair given the similar time frame) this is adding only one new character.

I'm not discounting balance changes at all either, they just aren't obviously something as exciting for most people.

Your comment here about not wanting to wait 10 months leaves me at least a little hopeful we will see a more substantial update sooner rather than later though, which is good. I just think it would suck if this was the stopgap patch to hold us over till this Christmas, because in that case this seems a bit light on newness. As something to whet our appetites for something 3ish months from now I suppose it is a bit more understandable.

Trust me, craziness is to come.

I can't say much right now but we're not gonna go completely radio-silent for 5-6 months like last time. :)

If I knew about this, I wouldn't have sold my Wii. Has Nintendo commented on this mod or are they ignoring this like everything else?

No comments in regards to it at all. In fact, no comments on the modding scene of Brawl in general. It seems, for the most part, they're either okay with it because you have to buy Brawl to do it or... they just don't care because Wii U is their focus now lol.

I see. I'm going to watch some vids on this. I'll have to see if I can borrow a wii to try it out.

Were there any changes made to the femme fatale group (Peach, Zero Suit, Zelda, Sheik)?

Thanks again for another update! I've completely replaced vanilla over this because of how awesome Zero Suit is.

Changelog? Metaknight is still beastly. Priorities against Ness are making me wary lol. Just gotta learn the matching better. Can't wait for more to come. My friends and I thought Turbo was in, but that was obviously us misreading.

Great work as usual, guys.

Nearly everyone received changes.

Edit: Oh I should mention that the site is kind of down so if you wanna get it still: http://www.pastebin.com/pfggyhBV

Use one of those links (depending on which one you used previously). The site won't be back up until the 19th in the afternoonish. Alternatively, you can also use this too. Both of those options will still count towards our downloads counter and such.

I have heard there is some weird bug that is happening sometimes with Meta-Knight. Should I hold off on downloading 2.6 due to an impending 2.6b? When there was a 2.5b I never got it due to custom textures and me not wanting to redo them all for minor fixes.

I will never understand the need to make a mod out of Brawl and and turn it into Melee 2.0.

smh

More competitively viable characters (than either Melee or Brawl) together with Melee's more active/responsive gameplay. Why wouldn't you want that.

smh at you, punk.

Then why are you posting in pro-modded thread? We don't really needed to have drama over pro or anti modded brawl since many players have their own preferences. Please don't cause anything because you just want to disagreed with people in modded thread

Thought I'd post this here.

Snake crashes the game after just a single match in versus mode. I guess it tries to load the victory screen and then it pwns itself. Practice mode has no problems, 'cause there's no victory screen.

I'm playing v2.6 via Dolphin 3.5 vanilla. I installed it using this tutorial. I am also using Gecko 1.5beta like in the video.

Windows 7 64, i7 4770k, GTX 780, 8GB.

It's unfortunate that this game is loaded with all of this extra shenanigans like Gecko on top takes extra computing power to emulate as well. LLE sound now choppier and buggier than Brawl, which has problems of it's own.

Why SMH? It's as if you find the idea shameful.

Honestly this mod has turned this into the most balanced smash game yet.

Melee 2.0 for me means that combos are in, which in Brawl, doing single hits and evading until hitting again made for incredibly boring spectating.

Don't do this type of hit and run dickery. Many people really love the efforts these modders went through in order to tweak an instalment of a franchise they love int something they enjoy more. Posting a pedantic stop liking what I don't like isn't going to net you a lot of sympathy in a thread discussing the new iteration.

Really need to install this asap, but I haven't tried updating from a previous version yet.

Finally tried out 2.6 today. I love what you guys have done with Project M, but as a Link main, I have to say I'm not digging the changes to his boomerang at all. Maybe I'll get used to it, but initial impressions are not good, and I can't get over the awkward way Link throws the boomerang now either.

I'll keep playing for a while though and see if I change my mind. If I don't though, I'll probably just go back to 2.5 until Samus is added.

This sounds like a cease and desist waiting to happen.

Yet, since Brawl Modding started, back in 2007-ish era... no one from Nintendo has reached out and done this.

Let's be real, Sakurai knows vBrawl was a crappy sequel to Melee, especially when compared to what P:M has done to transform Brawl into a worthy sequel to Melee.

Because this mod unbreaks the godawful character balance (or lack thereof) from Brawl, removes tripping, restores combos, and adds stages and options. That alone justifies its existence.

Roy should be able to launch fireballs with neutral B now like how he actually works in Fire Emblem 6 with the Sword of Seals/Sealed Sword. And be able to heal himself a little bit. I'm liking what I see though. Finally, clone engine! :D

What exactly do you guys mean when you say "clone engine"?

clone engine is a program that allowed us to add characters without overwriting other characters. So basically he will have his own slot. I'm pretty sure that we are getting Mewtwo as well. Since Revven saw my post, I'm sure that he will change it to someone else to spite me and prove me wrong.

Wow that's awesome. Does he take up a character slot or have modders figured out a way to include additional characters now without having to replace a pre-existing one?

Also hope this means Mewtwo's not far behind.

EDIT: Well guess that 'clone engine' business answers my question then.

Wish you wouldn't have spoiled such a surprise :/

I'm really sorry. I'm pretty sure that people would put it together and expect Mewtwo to be next reveal. I would be shocked with the fact if people didn't even thinking about Mewtwo being next character to added to the game.

I can't freaking wait to have /Roy and Mewtwo back!

Looks like a lot of fun! Mewtwo was one of those characters I used to play not entirely seriously, but often did quite well with!

Those teleport and hover shenanigans... Oh man! (never was a Peach player, so that's going to be new).

EDIT: Whoops, didn't see the new thread.

Bit of a necro, I know, but I just recently started fiddling around with Project M using dolphin. While I like some of the changes, my friends are more casual players now and actually prefer Brawl+ The gimmicks and balances along with being a cross between melee and Brawl is nice. We have been playing for a while on my hacked wii, but I figured I would try to give it a bit of an update using some of the features in PM.

My questions are, can I import Mewtwo and Roy in without breaking everything? And what about some of the move changes done to characters, such as Samus or Ganondorf? I know how to edit the gct file, swap costumes, stages, final smashes, etc, but I don't know what codes are what, especially since pm uses a loader and has a different file layout. Anyone to link me to some basics would be a great help since they shut down

^^^(new thread? Crap, sorry gaf. OP wasn't changed)
