What I'd really like to know is are all of those L-Canceled or is there some weird new shenanigan going on there.

L-cancelling is traditionally just for when your doing an aerial move and also land on the ground

This looks like they just completely unlocked the combo system and are letting every character cancel ANY move into ANY other move.

That's absolutely insane. I want to try this out of curiosity.

New characters coming in for 3.0?

The rest of the stuff from yesterday was a joke, but Turbo mode is not. So we didn't announce a new version yet or anything, just that whatever new version comes out next will have this new mode.

Where's that next release?

I was thinking about Kirby today and how he needs more moves based off of powers he gets in the games.

In Melee his dash was Comet. UpB is sword power. DownB is stone ability, SideB is hammer power. Throws are the grapple power.

But he could use some more for A attacks, like Fighter power gives him a shoryuken type move, divekick like Zero Suit, as well as a combo, as well as some dashing attacks. Most of his air moves aren't very inspired.

Hope it's OK bumping this; I didn't want to create a new thread.

Project M is awesome, but I remember also downloading a mod that included every single Melee and SSB64 stage too. At first I thought it was part of Project M, but now that doesn't seem to be the case (it's been a while since I last played). I think it was simply compatible with Project M, as I just checked my old SD card files, and in addition to Project M, there were also folders for Melee and SSB64 stages.

However, I just deleted everything on that SD card to make way for the most recent version of Project M, and now they're gone (which is what made me realise they were independent of Project M).

I really enjoyed having access to all of the old stages, so does anybody know what I need to do/download to get them back? I can't remember for the life of me.

The only reason Samus or any other character didn't show up is that they're not finished tweaking them for one reason or another. Remember, these have all been demo releases so far.

This was probably what you were using, the Classic Expansion Pack: http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=20291.0

Samus was never added to this, right? Any reason? I would think she was a popular character.

Samus (and the rest of the missing characters) will eventually be included.

I talked to some back-roomers recently and it sounds like there are some really amazing surprises in store for us.

The final mod include all the untouched vanilla Brawl stages right? I don't like how some of them were reworked into boring flat stages with a platform or two.

That's sort of the plan IF the Random Stage Selection screen can be expanded for both versions of the stages to be on there; which currently hasn't been something we've been able to get to due to the many numerous other things on deck and take priority.

...it may be the video but it looks like he's more overpowered lol.

Some of those clips are characters just standing there taking it with no one DI'ing or anything. Keep that in mind.

Also, couple of key changes that keep him from being stupid:

1. Tornado no longer clankable with anything (meaning any move in the game can trade with it)

2. Tornado is DIable at lower %s due to the inherent mechanics Project M fixed

3. His air mobility is still pretty mediocre

4. His physics allow him to be comboable and more easily KOable

5. No more momentum canceling in the game (another mechanical difference Project M introduced since the beginning) so he won't be surviving to ridiculous percents

6. Revamped/rehauled hitboxes across all his moves for "sense".

...And more of course.

Omg im getting this immediately, just started learning competative melee tricks time to get down on some project M!!

Im guessing one of the many claims to fame this has is a well ballenced cast? Thats the only thing i dont like about competative melee.

It's much more balanced and faster paced than Brawl. As much as I wanted to love Brawl, this really is a better game, even with missing characters and stages (for now).

Disappointing that Meta-Knight is the only new character. It has been like 7 months since the last version and that's all there is to show for it?

I mean, I appreciate everything these guys are doing for this mod, but the release schedule is extremely lame. I don't have a problem waiting a while so long as the releases are actually worthwhile. Don't get me wrong, still going to be playing this new version and enjoying it. But the only major addition after 7 months is one character, that sucks. No new modes, including the one advertised as being in the next patch as of 4 months ago. No new stages. Only 1 new characters. A let down, imo.

It just really feels like they are drawing it out now. At this rate Smash 4 may be out before this mod is actually finished (at which point pretty much no one will care).

It really doesn't help that Samus and Olimar are two of my favourites and also still two of the MIA characters.

2.6 was planned to be "small", this isn't what we've been cooking for the last 7 months at all. However, this is some of the stuff we felt people wanted and needed. As a result, making you all wait 10 months for something new didn't seem right.

Remember, this is a hobby for us and we're not paid to do it. :p

There are hurdles to jump over for Olimar, Samus, ICs, Yoshi, and Kirby. Brawl's file infrastructure is a nightmare. It wasn't really intended for people to be able to go into it and change as much we already have, after all.

I understand this is just a hobby for you guys. Like I said, I still appreaciate it. I just feel like the last time there was a wait around this long (2.0/1 > 2.5 was maybe one more month IIRC) there were 4 new characters, a new mode (crew), and new features (strking, audio dampening). In comparison (and I think a comparison is fair given the similar time frame) this is adding only one new character.

I'm not discounting balance changes at all either, they just aren't obviously something as exciting for most people.

Your comment here about not wanting to wait 10 months leaves me at least a little hopeful we will see a more substantial update sooner rather than later though, which is good. I just think it would suck if this was the stopgap patch to hold us over till this Christmas, because in that case this seems a bit light on newness. As something to whet our appetites for something 3ish months from now I suppose it is a bit more understandable.
