Yep if this game sells 10 million it will be $500K for MS & $200K for PlayStation but this is ignoring the people who will be buying PS5 because it has the best of both worlds now & also buying more software & accessories for PlayStation 5.

Which is why it's makes no sense they're even planning another console. This one foot in and one foot out approach they've taken with Xbox is why it never takes off and only loses them money.

MS sells gamepass at full price on Xbox. Nearly everyone who gets an Xbox will participate to some extent in gamepass.

If MS gets rid of Xbox then it will only have PC/IOT users that can access gamepass. Gamepass adoption on PC has been tenuous, for example MS charges less on PC for the service vs console. PC users also much more likely to interrupt the service on months they don't use it. Currently without console subs it is unsustainable. Difficult to visualize significantly quickly increasing gamepass subs on PC if you are Microsoft and you no longer have the console buffer. Gamepass is trying to be semi-self sustainable and needs to generate more money per sub not less.

MS has plans to kill off Steam and take over the PC space. However, if they got rid of their console today they would only kill off gamepass. They believe more time with console cycles will allow them to better position themselves in the market and keep gamepass alive until they are in a position to take on Steam.

The issue is that people have stopped buying their hardware. It is still unknown if there is a loyal fanbase that will buy the next one. If not, perhaps they can offer a competitive advantage. The best idea they have been able to come up with so far for competition advantage for next hardware:

1. Allow Steam on the device(I shit you not, despite all of the above they want to use steam to promote their next console)
2. "largest technical leap"
3. Portable Switch Clone

Bringing 3 and 4 to PS5 would come with enhancements and would be hurtful for Xbox Series owners that didn't get an enhanced version of the games.

FH4 was enhanced already. FH3 is an Xbox One game so any enhancements would benefit both consoles.

People need to remember that Sony expected to make around $450 million in selling games on PC in 2023. So $200 million from FH5 alone would be NUTS!!!! Especially considering they are spending $0 to have it on their console. It's all profit!

Wait until they start losing Game Pass subs because people are moving over to PlayStation. That is when it is going to hurt and that is exactly why they are going to launch another console. Unfortunately, I am starting to get a sense that even some of their biggest fans no longer trust them. I am still looking forward to seeing what their next move is. I am not convinced I will buy their next console but I will definitely keep an open mind if they announce something different.

Cost of what to their business exactly they’re turning over more revenue than ever before? Their software sales continue to climb massively while hardware is at its lowest point it’s ever been. You must be seeing something in the financials that the rest of us aren’t, where’s the decline? It’s only grown.

A lot of us will continue to get xbox consoles no matter what because of gamepass, that is the selling point of the console. They will continue to sell their 40 million consoles each gen and accept that until cloud based gaming really takes over.

playstations only exclusive Astrobot doesn’t interest me and it will be the first generation I don’t pick up one of their consoles, each person has a different taste in gaming.

There is one problem with this math: they're not selling on Xbox. The 30% revenue cut is peanuts compared to the massive install base on PS5.
To but it bluntly, 100% times 1 million is less than 70% times 5 million.
There is no amount of exclusive games that can help Xbox outsell PS.

That is some lunacy to try claiming Avowed and South of Midnight are bigger deals than Ghosts of Yotei, which last I remember is scheduled for 2025. Heck, an Astro Bot expansion would be a bigger deal than both of those games all things considered.

Also kind of premature to act as if SIE have fully revealed their 2025 line-up; again it's like you guys forget 2024 ever happened, and it was just last year!
