The veil from some of these tankies on twitter is so thin
It's easy to see where this is coming from after Iraq and Afghanistan. Those countries got tons of Western support and were supposed to have used it to build up a serious military but it crumbled instantly when faced with an enemy.
Russia also seemed to be way more powerful then it turned out to be, I remember the images from the Crimea takeover with the masked Russian troops with modern gear versus the helpless looking Ukrainian forces.
Add eight years of news on Russian military expansion, the only news from Ukraine being about corruption, a comedian elected president who seemed desperate to avoid conflict and it all seemed pretty hopeless for Ukraine. For some that was a reason for immense joy, another defeat for the West and what happened to the Ukrainians was completely irrelevant.
Some pro-Kremlin sites are still predicting a collapse of Ukraine is imminent, as it was on day one, but also whine about Western arms propping up their enemy who should have been defeated months ago.
