There’s comfort in being able to turn on some trusted talking head to receive “the truth,” but ultimately it doesn’t lead anywhere good. Even in cases where the person may not have had a specific agenda to start with, e.g. Brand, the power and influence shapes him. Especially in the era where you can see exactly what reaction your audience has to each segment you publish. To capture the largest audience you need an alternative viewpoint to the mainstream one, regardless of what’s factual.
So what you are saying is console wars are a good thing? (pls no ban)

Pika-fucking-chu. Fuck yes!

And yes, it's still better to overestimate an adversary. I reckon Chinese forces could do better, but they have of the same problems, plus others like extremely vulnerable infrastructure that could cause massive issues across the board for them if destroyed.
Yeah, funny that he's wearing a Pikachu badge and he just participated in a blitzkrieg offensive.

A good example how not to underestimate your opponent are the french, who really were arogant about the Germans before the second world war. The Chinese do have a rotten corrupt system as the Russians but they also could surprise their opponents. The school system is producing brilliant minds in the millions, although also is true that the communist indoctrination is limiting them.

Apparently, Tucker Carlson's father once quipped "doesn't matter whether it's the truth or a lie, the important thing is to get paid for saying it". Guess lil' Tucker learned well from pops.

And another one....

  • Ivan Pechorin headed up Russia's Far East and Arctic Development Corporation
  • The 39-year-old reportedly 'fell overboard' from a ship sailing off Vladivostok
  • The corporation's former CEO Igor Nosov, 43, also died suddenly in February
  • More than a dozen top Russian execs died in mysterious circumstances this year

Can we stop calling it "The Ukraine". People don't come from the Germany, the England, the Ireland, the Mexico, the Russia, the Spain etc.

It's different if saying the Russian federation, the USSR, the USA, the UK or the German/Ukrainian government etc etc. Ukraine isn't a series of letter's that stands for something.

Even worse, didn't that trend basically start as Soviet shorthand for "The Ukrainian Region of the USSR"?

Now, of all times, it seems extra tone deaf.

It's a leftover from the times, when the official name was "The Ukraine".
But after 1991, it became just Ukraine.
But habits die hard.

Holy shit if true. Of course, we need more confirmation about it. Things can go from good to bad depending on what the F happens next. Hopefully, Putler gets fucked.

Guardian also reporting this, suggesting a decent degree of likelihood. Comes from Ukrainian government source, but easily disprovable if false, so I doubt they'd be briefing it without evidence.

If Russia are unable to bring up new units because those units are refusing to fight, or are unable to fight due to lack of training or equipment, then it might signal the beginning of the end of the invasion. It also might signal some strong discord within the Russian command structure.

Possible nuke area…?

You mean they're not sending in troops because they are going to nuke the area?

Nah. He's not going to use nukes. He never really was. I know this because he would have used them already if he could, or had the balls to. And he'd be nuking his own troops. Even he can't cover that one up. It'd threaten his own personal position too much.

Also, bear in mind that by now, every single western satellite is trained on every single Russian site that might contain nuclear weapons. If i were Vlad, I wouldn't want to bet that I could get my bomb loaded onto my shitty little plane faster than the US can send a nuclear tomahawk.

Not sure we have to keep saying it over and over - no one is using nukes. Nukes aren't all that effectively militarily, never have been, unless you're trying to blast a 100 tanks in the open steppe.

All nukes will do is bring the absolute end of Russia. No value.

Biden's been on point this whole time, but that thumbs up at the end is just getting me even more excited at the utter collapse of these orcs.... Maybe papa Putin Orc is on the menu.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a stark warning to Moscow on Sunday, declaring that “history will put everything in its place” amid Kyiv's offensive in the northeastern region of Kharkiv.

In a Telegram post addressed to Russia, Zelensky asked:

“Do you still think that we are ‘one nation?’ Do you still think that you can scare us, break us, make us make concessions?”

“You really did not understand anything? Don't understand who we are? What are we for? What are we talking about?,” the post read.

“Read my lips: Without gas or without you? Without you. Without light or without you? Without you. Without water or without you? Without you. Without food or without you? Without you.”

“Cold, hunger, darkness and thirst are not as scary and deadly for us as your ‘friendship and brotherhood,'’ Zelensky added. "But history will put everything in its place. And we will be with gas, light, water and food ... and WITHOUT you!”

no i meant just reading the essay how would you counter it
Easy, I'd look at the name of the person who wrote the piece, laugh, close the tab, and continue looking at memes or boobs

Anyone, people, historians, gaf members, reading putins trash take on russian/Ukraine history to fit his warped view, and believing it, isn't worth interacting with. There's no counter, mainly because you dont take russian revisionism from him seriously

Maybe Russia should buy US weapons. We sell to almost anybody.

I do hope the war is over soon, but I have a feeling it will go on for quite some time. Too much money to be made.

It feels like a Ukrainian victory is just an inevitability at this point, barring any psychotic WMDs being unleashed to escalate everything to the point of total and complete fuckery. The west can keep supplying them, they have the initiative and momentum, they’re all fucking pissed. And they can meme.

It seems impossible for Russia to keep going on with this. They’ll never conquer these people. The only thing keeping this going is one man’s ego

With all the success that Ukrainians are having with their counter offensive it reminds me of the time they sunk that black sea flagship. There is a Youtuber (ex-military) that just released a Youtube video on what actually sunk the ship. It contained such gems as "of the 6 anti missle guns only 1 was working the other 5 were used for spare parts". I wholeheartedly want to encourage people to watch the vid, the guy presents the information in a very entertaining way

that was really fun to watch, thanks

Zelensky, once a professional comedian. But it's Putin that became the biggest clown.
For real. He seems like a really really strong leader. I remember I got some flak here because I said he was being obnoxious in his demands for support, but yeah, I concede it was the right thing to do, and necessary.

Don't worry about it. When this war is over, no one will give a fuck about The Ukraine anymore.

“Aww, it’s so...average,” she said to him in a cold brick of passion
And if I remember correctly Armenia is in a defensive pact with Russia. Which means Russia have to deviate resources away from Ukraine to help them or leave them to themselves which would essentially render all of Russia's pacts worthless. And even if they DID try to help Armenia the help would be weeks away from getting there. The logistical headache of it all is ridiculous. It would mean different gear, new intelligence, new training, and a new set of top brass chosen to be in charge. All done at the last minute.

And given how the Ukraine war went despite years of buildup and planning I don't like Russia's odds of being useful after just a few weeks worth of preparation.

Armenia still catching hands over not demilitarising or vacating areas it occupies, despite signing agreements to do so and missing all deadlines. Maybe they can burn down a few more villages/forests or mine a few more roads or houses before they get pushed out again. Learnt well from their Russian masters.

Possible a False Flag?

🇺🇦 🇵🇱 Russians claim: that Polish mercenaries captured the city - Svyatoshirsk. The situation is very difficult. The separatist forces have left the city. Denis Pushilin - leader of the separatists.

I believe the city has been liberated and more importantly the temple is intact. That city is a spiritual center for ukrainian ortodox christians so it is of great significance that it has been liberated.
