Maybe a little weird for a normal army, but Russia isn't a normal army. They've broken, and are retreating in disarray.
Their logistics are also a mess at this point from weeks of shelling from Ukraine so any transports are likely broken, or lacking fuel, so aren't able to carry troops efficiently. Troops are running on foot, dropping gear as a result, or under fed or otherwise weakened at 7 months of constant fighting without rotation - they don't even have boots. Doesn't help that it also appears their leaders are leaving ahead of them too.

As long as Ukraine can resupply and dig in quickly, this whole offensive has been an amazing success
The abandoned russain vehicles basically neutralises all Ukraines mbt/armoured vehicle losses since the beginning of the war. Hoping that they are in some sort of working condition or easily repairable from a well supplied and motivated army
All this has happened with a handful of western artillery pieces, a few weeks worth of NATO training and the will and determination of amazing Ukrainians. Imagine a few more pieces of artillery and a few more drones...

Retreat for a large scale attack from Russia , nukes, napalm, in love and war anything can happen .. or nothing can happen. I like to see Russia defeated though. They can’t take their equipment because of all the broken bridges . But god speed Ukraine! I wished the EU supplied them more.

You'd be surprised at what truly exceptional men can do, check out bazooka charlie, Alvin york, Dan Daly, Mad Jack Churchill, Audie Murphy, a Fin (I forget his name but he was a sniper in ww2 that used iron sights to like a mile out) those are just more recent ones but I think ww1 and ww2 allies are easy places to start
on the opposite end, there was a german submarine in ww2 that was sunk by its own toilet.
And? They did the same cruise missile barrage thing after running away from Kyiv. The reality is that russian army is not capable of doing any large scale, well coordinated, combined arms operations. Their army is just way too outdated, corrupt and inept on every level.

Apparently the orcs have run out of shells in some areas of the front and they're retreating towards the Dnipro so they're covered by russian artillery on the other side of the river. It's similar to what they did in Stalingrad, decades ago, with the artillery on the other side of the Don.
Nearby Kherson, this retreat has been measured to be 5-10 kilometers.

With all the success that Ukrainians are having with their counter offensive it reminds me of the time they sunk that black sea flagship. There is a Youtuber (ex-military) that just released a Youtube video on what actually sunk the ship. It contained such gems as "of the 6 anti missle guns only 1 was working the other 5 were used for spare parts". I wholeheartedly want to encourage people to watch the vid, the guy presents the information in a very entertaining way

Just like 30 years ago when the world saw their economy struggle and you got people lining up for food at empty stores. I remember reading about it and at the time nobody in the western world knew much about anything about Russia/USSR except it was ruled by an iron fist and the only time you really heard about them was olympics, space exploration and military threats. They could put on a show for that stuff but in reality it was a trainwreck for the average commoner.

Despite Russia having 144 million people and the biggest land mass and resources on Earth, youd think they'd be toe to toe with the US dominating industry. It's got huge supplies of energy, agriculture, steel, precious metals. This kind of backbone resources should lead to a boost in government taxes and company profits. The only key exports they dont do googling it is meat and fish.
Instead, it's like a waste of resources and available manpower. Russia and Canada's GDP is roughly the same, even though Canada has 1/4 the people.

Forgot to add that Russia is also top producer and exporter of lumber and even shit you dont think about like diamonds. They basically got a hand in every key export product except certain food related things like meat and dairy. The economy should be raking in the dollars and taxes over the decades to boost up society.

There's a realistic chance Ukraine can push across kharkiv over the coming Weeks into a poorly defended part of Luhansk and take back a large chunk. Which sets them to take Luhansk itself which is huge or fuck up the Donbass front line by heading South and taking Donetsk. The big question is how much can be done before winter.
All that seems a pipe dream but you never know. Ukraine probably wanted to launch a similar offensive to take Melitopol. But maybe they'd redirect them North instead? Either way so many options for Ukraine now and they maybe able to choose more then one at once.

2. Attack Donbass frontline from the north (Luhansk)
3. Attack Melitopol
4. Continue push on Kherson
I'm very excited to see do things settle or does Ukraine continue to take territory daily in the north.
