So, I have 2 PDA's that are permanently stuck in my inventory. I can't drop them. They have the symbol that means they are tied to a quest, but that shouldn't mean I can't get rid of this crap.

So what’s the verdict from people playing it for a while? I’ve never played stalker - is this good on Xbox?

The game has it flaws, obviously, and it is a little rough around the edges for the time being, I'll recommend the game to someone who know what he's stepping into, or a long time Stalker fan. Thay said, I don't recall a game which immerses the player and provides so much player agency and sistemic gameplay since Skyrim.

To sum up, it's better to wait a little bit more for patches and fixes, GSC will deliver. The core for another cult classic is there already.

The games got it's hooks in me now. Unfortunately I found a really good suit after killing a fire wielding mutant. The unfortunate part is it's such a nice suit even the tech in Garbage can't upgrade so I can get some lead containers and start using artifacts without rad poisoning.

I have the same problem so you have to live with that until you meet with the person interested with that quest, i had 2 pda vut now i only have one so it is possible to make them disappear.

I had a way worse bug that soflocked me from interacting with stuff because i talked with a specific npcs during a quest, i had to go back and kill him to solve the problem :lollipop_squinting:

What did you people did during the vodka stash quest?

I was doing a good boy stalker run but the loot was way too good to give up, hopefully it doesn't have heavy ramifications in the future...

The new artifact scanner is a game changer.

I just finished the quest being a good boy. Got no reward and reloaded a save right at the first stash. Then quit. Will find out what happens tomorrow.

In short you can chose to be a cunt and get GREAT rewards, or chose to be a good guy and get nothing except good guy rep but i don't even know if it count for something or not, the people at the base were cool with me even if i killed the dude in cold blood.

Btw, if you decide to go the cunt way, in theory you can only steal stuff from 2 stashes because after you kill him the mission fail and the loot disappear, but if you kill him from stealth and are fast enough to pick the stuff, you can still loot the stash before the fail state, so chose wisely WHERE the third encounter is, not every encounter gives you the chance to kill him in stealth...

The "Sign of Hope" side mission was bugged for me. I think it has to do with the convoluted path up to a roof you take. For me, one of the waypoints was in an inaccessible area through a wall.

So I could get to the objective and complete it, but the game thought I still needed to hit the waypoint and wouldn't update. Oh, well.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Does it matter which vendor I sell artifacts to? Does one vendor pay more than another?

Some vendors have 'Missions' to get specific type of artifact and they give you a hell of a lot more tokens for it (think $10k).

I learned that the hard way as I was selling the one's I wasn't using and on more than one occasion I ran into a vendor who would have paid $10k for something I just sold for $1k.

Keep them in your stash unless you're REALLY strapped for cash.

I’m planning to eventually pick this up in the future after hearing impressions, but I have a concern if anyone can answer:

I keep hearing that the game’s console controls feel like they were made by someone who only ever played with Mouse and Keyboard. Basically like how old non-Halo PS2/Xbox games used to feel before most devs figured things out.

Is this true?

The more I play the more think this game deserves a better metacritic score. Yes it's buggy, but this game is much better than Veilguard and that game has a 83.

Reviews and their ratings are a joke
I don’t care what any critic says I’m at the GOTY point for this game right now. Feels like when I jumped into Skyrim the first time, I can laugh at bugs and jank but in the end I still love the game for everything else it does right. Probably sold the game to 3-4 people today at work from talking excited like a kid about all kinds of cool scenarios I experienced during the weekend. Even had a 60yo non-gamer start asking stuff about it 😁

I did the money glitch and became a millionaire. The cost to repair equipment is too damn high. Not enjoying this as much as SOC or COP, but perhaps once the AI 2.0 is patched it'll give me what I need out of it.

The Xbox version has stick drift, tho it's not very common, basically the MC looks at his feet once in a while lol, should be fixed soon i believe.
Other then that i have no issues with controls with the XSX version.
edit: they feel quite modern for you question.. like click l3 to run etc, also you have some options to choose if you want to hold or toggle for gear wheel and such, I'm quite happy with the controls.

I'm playing on PC with a controller and it's fine. It's no Destiny 2 but I don't have any issues lining up headshots.

oh man, I just watched a video on how to do it. I kind of want to do it because I agree, the cost to repair is ridiculous, but I feel like it'll kill the survival aspect of the game. The economy is broken as fuck right now though, so maybe I will. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I'm playing with controller on PC. No real complaints except there's seemingly no deadzones on the thumbsticks.

So I swerve left and right like a drunk when trying to run in a straight line, and the aiming reacts to every little movement. Definitely playable. And the swerving is probably partly my fault, but I have never had that issue in a game before.

Dunno, theres some former a-life modders as well who claimed the opposite of him. The game has a strange defense force for some reason. Either way, idc. Im still waiting for an official patch or two.
Franchise is cult hit pretty much, so defence force is given

As a Slav from small country, where this series had big cultural impact I am one of them

Ngl after learning the game has several potential save-breaking and soft-locking bugs related to the main quest I kinda expected a hotfix to be deployed asap to at least fix those issues until a proper patch could be released, instead the game released 5 days ago and they still haven't fixed it. Does not bode well for gamepad bros who can't play with the deadzone issues since that problem is "to be addressed in future updates".

I'm kinda afraid of continuing playing after reading so many reports of people's saves getting borked while playing the main quest :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Today has been my 'fuck around the zone' session.

Found:

- An artifact that pretty much instantly stops bleeding, thus rendering bandages useless
- A radiation suit looking armor that can be upgraded to have at least 1 slot which nullifies radiation from an artifact, meaning I can put an Endurance one with High radiation on it and not have to worry about it, but benefit from the Endurance boost.

I played a couple of hours and did most of the stuff in the first settlement. Not really enjoyed it much, those pigs and dogs and rats are everywhere, I can hardly hit them with the slow as fuck controller (guess I could switch to mouse and keyboard but I don't enjoy playing like that since I switched many years ago), the interface is also horrible, confusing and slow. Voice acting is weird with all those US idioms being used.

It runs and looks great using maxed settings on my 4080 but I'm not sure if I will pick it back up at this time.
We need a katana mod for those fuckers.

I'm only 8 hours in, barely scratched the surface, wondering if I should set this aside and play the older games first, or will they hold up after playing this? This is my first Stalker game.

I ran into my first big bug this morning during the mission "A Minor Incident" and ending up needed to use a command prompt to progress past it. This was 38 hours into my play through.

I'll post the reddit thread here in case others run into it as well.

Also not major spoilers but there's a couple easter eggs which are cool
There's a COD4 easter egg In Pripyat, and there's also a OG Menu screen easter egg near the ChNPP

It's a series beloved by many because of how much charm it has and how well it does things it sets out to do. It's not for everyone but for people like me and many others small bugs and stuff like that doesn't detract enough from the overall package to ruin it.

It's a niche franchise from a small developer that has nearly 2 decades of love poured into it by devs and fans alike.

For those on pc having trouble with connecting and playing with a controller.
In usb devices i saw a device: game controller for android. This after seeing some weird controller in the steam controller menu of the game. No idea what device that is and why it's there. Either way, turn this device of and you Xinput controller works.

Need to figure out what this android controller is. If one of you can enlighten me, i would be grateful. Haven't bother to go past the first Google search on this.
Found it. I had a Speedlink C64 style USB joystick plugged in. Apparently it caused trouble with the X input Series X controller. It showed up as stk-7024x. This was the game controller for android i mentioned. I Googled it and its a cheap gamepad which shares parts with the Speedlink stick apparently.
Problem solved.

Just realized, now if Resident Evil is planning to go open world this is the way to do it! With this atmosphere, inventory management and dark souls like suspense and dangers every corner.. good pacing with giving you the relaxing daylight before descending into terror or hitting hard with a storm. This has everything we love horror games for and more!

I've also dropped to 1440p DLSS quality + FG and basically barely had any issues in the last 2 days along with this mod Optimized Tweaks S.2 - Reduced Stutter Mouse Fix Improved Performance Lower Latency
Now it's just smooth fun all the way. Absolutely loving it and now safe to say clear GOTY for me.

waiting for the patches, particularly A-life stuff, is gonna be tough. I was really enjoying my time with it but can tell the game is special enough to experience nearer to the devs intended vision for my first go. Will probably also opt to buy on steam rather than play on PC gamepass due to its shittier performance and likely slower updates.
