I really hope there's a subreddit dedicated to just screenshots of Skylines. I always love seeing other people's creations and it's also a great source for inspiration.

Will someone make /r/CitiesSkylinesPorn or something along those lines?

I plan on inundating the OT with pictures of my lavish and bustling cities! I might also post pictures of my poo infested rivers and burnt to the ground industrial sectors...




I'm talking like I'm going to buy the game already. I need to get home and watch some of these streams and vids.

No.
Maps that are made have a set theme to them which cannot be changed (for example you can't choose Map X that has the North theme and change that to Tropic theme before you start a game). You can still choose from a group of filters in the options menu to change certain aspects of the lighting condition and so forth. But changing the entire flora and grass color and so on is not possible (mid-game or on an already created map).

Can someone confirm or talk about the existence of skyscrapers and generally really dense cities? I didn't like how you had to mod in additional density classes of buildings for Sim City 4; I want to build a dense metropolis dammit! That, to me, is even more important than having a big plot of land to deal with (though that's always great too)

My challenge to myself to not pre-order any games this year (haven't even pre-ordered The Witcher 3 for fucks sake!) might only last 2 months...

The fact they put the game out there this early prior to launch and all the good things people are saying are really making me want to get it.

Even if this game is obviously better than SC2013 overall... I gotta say I really like the whole upgradable building system.

Pre ordered. Had to bite with $20 at gmg. Now to resist watching streams for the next 7 days... (It's not working out so well) Game looks really great and well designed, can't wait to jump into the modding scene.

Man, watching this escapist guy is like really entertaining. Dammit, a week ago I wasn't interested in this game at all. Screenshots looked rather bland but seeing this in motion is so satisfying already. All those litte cars running around. Now I'm all hype. On a side note, does anyone else think the music totally sounds like Oblivion? Those horns!

Won't have a Mac capable of running this until i get a new iMac (october or november when they hopefully update the 5k line)...do i bite at $20 or wait until oct/nov and hope its cheaper?

it'll probably (definitely?) go on sale during the winter sale so if you could hold off till christmas...

There will probably be sales on it by then putting the base game at 10-15 dollars. Just gotta be diligent and watch out for when it goes on sale.

Wow, this game looks...really cool actually. This is the first thing in a long while that's caught my eye.

Do you guys think this game will be easy to get into? I'm super new to city builder games.

There are some skyscrapers in the game, but I haven't looked or counted how many. Growable buildings are limited to 4x4 squares. This means modders can make very tall buildings, but still still wont have that large of a foot print. Plopaable buildings can be bigger, but I don't know the size limit.

Modding is going to take this game very far.

From the few streams Ive watched, as long as you build slow and keep intersections to a minimum, you will be fine. It looks like its pretty easy to start as long as you don't get over ambitious and go crazy building out.

If you really suck bad, there is also infinite money mode to help you get a grasp on the game mechanics.

There is more to city sims to me than spending the entire game on road planning, seems like most people are doing that here..

Well, you can flood your town when you place dams wrong so i guess you could flood the town if you break your dam.
