SimCity a disaster for you? Take a look at Cities: Skylines (not related to CitiesXL)

Didn't someone tell me Lirik won't be streaming this. WHY IS HE STREAMING IT?! I'm missing out now. :(

One more week until we can play this. I'm pretty hyped. :D

I kinda feel like the crematorium and picking up dead bodies is an unnecessary mechanic, but I'll see what it's like when I actually play the game.

Can't wait for this game.

Got it pre-ordered via GMG and just waiting for dat code now. Even reinstalled Sim City 2013 to get back into the city building scene till this drops.

Please be good. Pleasebegood. Plsbgud.

I had planned to spend so many hours on Sim City 2013 and it wasn't worthy. I'm ready to invest in another simulation game, but I'll wait to read reviews.
have you been watching any of the videos posted? Not only do I come into this looking me cynical but watching bits and pieces of videos posted throughout this thread has absolutely sold me beyond belief and I can clearly see that this game just absolutely trumps SimCity

The dead bodies mechanic seems like a cheap way to set up a zombie DLC that should have been in the game at release.

Preorder cancelled.

Peeked into this thread this morning and I think i've been hooked quite nicely. What's this GMG deal people are talking about?

GreenManGaming. They have a specials VIP section that has the game for $21.89. I don't think there is anything needed to access the VIP area beyond simply having an account with them.

What really makes this game different from Cities XL? I really want to get this game but after finding out how Cities XXL was and how frustrating it was to get Cities XL to run...I'm unsure about this game :/.

Different developer. The branding on this game is really poor.

It's a different game from a different franchise from a different developer and publisher.

Dude, even the thread title says this isn't related to XL at all. This is from the CIties In Motion developer.

From a gameplay perspective, it seems like a redundancy of trash pickup and ambulances.

I like that we have to take care of cemetary crematorium capacities. It's something that's everywhere but not touched upon in these types of games. My city is currently running out of places to bury people so now all funerals are done in crematoriums unless your religion forbids it. I would like elderly care too though, like nursing homes and such.

I really don't know why they made the title so similar to the Cities XL series. It doesn't help at all.

Watching some videos, and watching these horrible roads/highways being built is amazing lol.

I know mine will be just as bad.

For those of you who are playing the game already, does it matter how far police and fire stations are from robberies and fires? There's that radius that shows their range, but if that was the max distance, it seems like you'd need a lot of them. They can travel outside that range, right?

The fact that it's a new concept is interesting, I agree, but it still seems like managing trash.

Not yet. Is there a post with the best ones collected, or do you recommend a YouTube channel?

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and watched some of the game. I really need to work on my road building. It's pretty miserable.

well body disposal is basically like managing trash, except irl it's got emotional resonance attached and in a videogame it's... well... trash

Right, and I'm not necessarily against its addition to this game, but from a purely gameplay perspective, it's basically just managing two types of trash, that for all intents and purposes, behave in almost the same way.

I might be missing something, though.

So are most people getting the regular edition or the deluxe edition?

I'm getting the regular edition. I don't have any desire, really, to fill my city with famous landmarks and I'd rather save that money to put it towards whatever future DLC there's going to be. There's liable to be a fair bit, given that it's from Paradox and Colossal Order.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Preordering seems super silly though - wait for reviews and feedback, guys!

There's been several hours of gameplay footage seen so far from multiple sources. Granted, it's not the same as a review of final release code and we have yet to see mid to late gameplay or any real stress test of large cities with elaborate infrastructure systems all going, but a lot of people who have just pre-ordered did so after watching those gameplay vids, combined with the attractive cheap price.

Now, pre-ordering blindly or based solely off of a 5 min trailer would be super silly.

There are a ton of raw gameplay videos out there and streamer feedback. It's a pretty safe bet for anyone at this point to preorder if they like what they see out of the gameplay videos, especially at $20.

Watched a stream where someone nearly killed off his entire town after unlocking the higher zone tiers by pausing the game, then re-zoning most of his city. Both hilarious and sad. Gotta say, watching others build cities is amazingly entertaining.

I'm kinda annoyed that the pre-installed highways are subtly incompatible with the T junction in the toolbar. The highway connectors seem to be ever-so-slightly differently spaced as the highways.

Also: I wish they had a junction you could basically drop on top of the highway. Right now you appear to have to manually erase some of the highway, eyeball the angle of the junction, then reconnect it with the rest.

Plus, why the hell is the pre-installed junction that initially connects you to the highway not in the toolbar? Minor oversight. I mean, it's by no means a beauty, but judging from the streams, connecting a single road to a highway is some rocket science level wizardry. Most streamers seem to be utterly stumped when it comes to that.

I was just watching them. And then I went to bed. And it is t-1day left. I need this even more than I needed it.

Feedback has been overly positive, with the full game in the hands of youtubers and streamers currently.

This isn't EA or Ubisoft we are talking about here.

He's still right, pre ordering any game is super silly.
Are you afraid the game will be out of stock?

It has a review embargo till release day, right?
I can't wait to play this game but nothing bad has ever come from waiting till something is out and finding out if there are any nasty surprises before you put money down.

Deluxe

Well, yeah, but I think I'm confident enough in this purchase. I've followed the development, I've seen people play it, and the price is well within my "fuck it, lets go" range. I'm also a fan of the genre, so even if it's not that great, I'll still like it. Hell, I still played SimCity2013 a bunch, despite its flaws. Civ Beyond Earth, too.

Outrage! I demand my zombie content to be in the day one release of this city simulator! Forget it then. I'm not getting it. I'll have to go elsewhere. Why is it so hard to find a good zombie game these days? They're so rare. #MoreZombieGames

same. I think I did the same thing about sim city, though. but sim city looked very basic and simple from the beginning. this game looks more meaty.

It's not a good time to be a zombie city sim genre fan. People don't realize it, but we're a big silent market just waiting to be appealed to. The zombie city sim genre needs its own Star Citizen. A kickstarter would surely bring in tens of millions!
