I mained both male and female shephard back in the day. Didn't offer much of a difference. The characters are written so that they can feel attracted to both sexes anyway, it depends how you react for them. You can't romance Wrex anyway.

I've played the trilogy four times. The last one was as Jane Shepard. It was the best. So I have to agree, her acting is better compared to rather wooden performance by whoever voiced John. John isn't bad either, just not as good.

The voice acting is vastly superior on the female Shep. Male Shep has his moments, but there are also times where the voice acting is very off and I can't quite put my finger on exactly what it is. But Jennifer Hale knocks it out of the park in every game.

Funny story, I played as femshep for ME3 (I think it was 3, might have been 2) and i even turned the case cover inside out so femshep was on the outside. When I traded the game into gamestop, the clerk was kind of taken aback and was stated that out of all the copies they had gotten back, mine was the only one with the cover turned inside out like that.

Anyway, I'm playing as femshep now in the remaster and honestly shep falls flat as a character. I don't find them that interesting. I dont' think it would make a difference whether I played as male or female character.

ME 1-3 are amongst my favorite games ever but I think both performances are shit to be honest.

FemShep sounds like she is doing an impression of a 90's tough guy half the time which doesn't fit a lot of the dialogue at all. It seems to veer wildly between a nuanced performance and pure over the top cringe almost like two different people recorded it.

Mark Meer gives a super boring performance but at least it's fairly consistent and he does have his moments so I tend to stick with him.

People who write this shit has no idea what men are like. They live in an echo chamber where a bunch of females, trans or not, tell each other what men are like without ever actually bothering to ask a man.

I've never needed reaffirming my manhood or project myself onto a video game character. The very idea of it is just weird as fuck to me. What insecure babies need to feel familiar with a mass of pixels.

I tend to play as women when possible, but that's because I like women, I like looking at them, and I'm not ashamed of that.
