I sincerely doubt it can be all that bad. I like stylish filters and stuff like that in my animu.
Especially the Studio 4C stuff.

Yeah but you have pretty terrible taste, so you shouldn't try to assume anyone here has the same opinions as you. Just stating the harsh truth here. You even make up bullshit reasons to try to "explain" why you like lower quality video. Please.

Has anyone ever actually seen The Amazing Lives of the Fast Food Grifters? I'm planning to watch it later today, and impressions seem hard to come by. Should be, uh, interesting, if nothing else.

My impression is only that I didn't finish it. It was certainly weird, but I didn't really find it entertaining.

I don't think slapping photoshop filters ontop of your anime is necessarily the right way to create a particular tone or mood.

Depends on if you are a fan of the effects or not. I'm sure it can be done badly, and like duckroll has said, I haven't seen it.
However I've never met a filter effect I didn't like yet.

There are some really interesting artistic choices in Fujiko for sure. Not all of them work, and some of them only work for certain scenes and not others, but overall it's still a pretty interesting show visually.

Jexhius is responsible for the explosion of Anime-GAF. This is not debatable. It will be published in the history books.

History books can be wrong!

In any case, he was no doubt a large contributor. But there were many others as well, it's simply not possible for one poster alone to explain that explosion.

Invalidating someones taste by stating your own as correct...hmmm

My tastes are questionable. I don't think this is news to anyone, nor do I care if it is. I watch horrible movies too. whatever is entertaining to me and is interesting to look at.
I don't watch things if I don't like them. Such shows do exist.

Mirai Nikki 24

I loled when it happened in the manga and I loled here. Dammit Yuki :/

Epic stuff going on. Kind of wish I could erase my memory of the manga for this part. It's just batshit insane for the rest of the series.

Wasn't expecting another post-credits Murmur segment considering recent... events. Oh well, it was funny even if it went on for a bit too long.

Didnt read the manga, but since Yuno was the god previously, did she already know the identities of all of the players, as well as what they would do, especially since she went back in time?

She knew who the other players were, but there are enough differences in the 2nd world where she probably couldn't predict everything.

Personally speaking I thought this was beyond boring, but I was prejudiced against it before I started watching it so I don't think that should put off anyone who's actually interested in watching it. The direction and animation are shounen by numbers; if this wasn't animated by what's-left-of-Gainax I wouldn't have given it a second glance, as I dislike Nisioisin's writing anyway.

What I really don't like is the overbearing background music that played throughout the vast majority of the first half of the episode. Sometimes I think this kind of thing almost works - .hack//Sign would have been terminally dull without blaring Kajiura music over the top of everything - but here it felt like the director had looked at the first episode of Utena, asked the composer to write something that sounds like the main theme for Ohtori Academy (I don't know the name of the piece of music. but you'd know what I meant if you watched Medaka Box), and just made that play on loop for about ten minutes.

Also, why does Medaka have to have impractically huge tits? I know, it's anime, but still, she should be on the floor with those things.

You neglected to mention how ugly the art and character designs are, which, when combined with a horrible colour scheme, make the whole show look terrible.

It's okay, spread the blame around! Personally I've found that it's actually the presence of one or two 'heavy' users who post items and consistently respond to other members posts which enables a thread to grow much faster than it would do otherwise. If it's just a small handful of people posting occasionally nothing much happens, but if someone is in the thread every day responding to those people and engaging then in a discussion then naturally you'll see a lot more activity. An active thread, by it's very nature, generates more activity and the whole effect snowballs.

Medaka is mai waifu and it's nice to have some colours, after the boring grey and brown corridors that have ruined this generation!

Well, that too. They went off-model about five minutes in which I thought was quite impressive, but I think we were supposed to ignore that because Medaka had taken her clothes off by then.

I've just had a quick flick through the first chapter of the manga and they've pretty much just taken the panels and put them on screen, so hopefully the fans of the series will get what they want out of it.

Are there any other DVDs/Blu-Rays with translated commentary tracks?
The Wings of Honneamise, Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer and Revoloutionary Girl Utena: The Movie are three that spring to mind instantly although I am sure there are many more. I personally haven't watched many myself, but that's because most DVD's I have lack those kinds of special features.

In all my collection, there really aren't very many director commentaries or special features, even in the more expensive discs. It seems as though it is limited to movies/theatrical releases. I wish more studios would have these sorts of extras, but it is probably cost prohibitive on an already razor thin profit margin.

It was the first wave of Utena watching, and there was no IRC channel to siphon off posts.

People sometimes forget that a sizeable chunk of discussion gets left out there, in IRC. It's kind of frightening to consider how big these threads would be without the presence of of IRC to water them down...
Koutetsushin Jeeg 3

Old Jeeg callback? Aw yeah. Eyecatches are phenomenal too. Series is directed by Jun Kawagoe who did episodes 4-13 of Getter Robo Armageddon among other things so I shouldn't be surprised the episode felt like something out of that. I feel a little silly for never realizing (or simply forgetting) Imagawa did the first 3 episodes of Armageddon either. Can that man do no wrong?

No, no he can not.

Well, he might have done, I must admit that I have not watched all of Imagawa's catalogue of shows. I'm sure there's some less than stellar works mixed up with the rest of his works, but he's made enough contributions to anime for one man.

It's definitely caused me to post much less in this thread.

I like IRC but its very difficult to keep to any topic. It just sort of goes anywhere.
You also cant reference past discussions (Im not going through dozens of logs to do it)
