I gotta get me in on some of this action too. What aspect ratio is it available in? Ah the hell with it, I'll watch it anyway...with screenshots!

I've written about the Devilman OVA from 1987 previously, mostly to talk about how totally insane it is, but at the same time I really wanted to get people to watch it because I wanted them to experience it in all it's grotesque beauty. In particular, I had always been impressed by the sequence which opens the OVA.
Now Ben from AniPages has put together a post that goes into great length (as Ben is want to do) detailing all the staff who worked on the staff, including a number of Ghibli animators.
Now, I never realised that so many talented animators had worked on this project, or that some of them were from Ghibli. If you ever want to see what a horrendously gory Studio Ghibli movie might look like, check out Devilman: The Birth. It's this good -
Why is blood so often coloured orange, instead of the darker red it really is?
So here we are. Usagi is a crybaby. Pretty much what I expected. Still don't like her. probably never will.

Maybe that color of paint was cheaper.
Because its easier.
And I call myself a Japanese animation medium connoisseur. It's been far too long since the last time I watched Sailor Moon. The only thing I remember is that Makoto is hot and that I kind of had a crush on Ami.
For effect. It's the same reason that sound effects in movies are incredibly exaggerated.
I feel like I'm the only one who likes Rei.
And I was looking forward to seeing the sailors get womped
Guys: should I watch Haruhi in the S1 order, or in chronological order?

it seems you still have much to learn from the mountainIf they have the money to hire all those animators, they should at least have enough to get the colour right!

You shouldn't watch Haruhi at all.
Chronological order. With the existence of the Disappearance movie, watching chronologically has been redeemed.

Yeah, broadcast is probably the way to go if you're just watching S1. Since if you watch it chronologically, you get the masterful Melancholy arc right out the gate and then the rest of the season is ass by comparison.
Watching the entire series however, justifies a chronological watch.
Man reminds me that I've been MEANING to re-watch Haruhi in chronological order for years. But I've never gotten around to it. I'd probably echo the sentiments here and rec going with broadcast order, it adds to the experience!!Guys: should I watch Haruhi in the S1 order, or in chronological order?

Haruhi S1 loses all sense of dramatic flow by watching it chronologically, even if the resolution is as cliché as it could get.Haruhi can be watched in almost any order and make the same amount of (non)sense.
the buildup and payoff thanks to the non-chronological way in which S1 is structured easily makes up for the underwhelming S2 that follows. nothing wrong with watching it chronologically a second time though!Yeah, broadcast is probably the way to go if you're just watching S1. Come with us. Follow us through the End of the World!your avatar is messing with me.
hating on the kuudere and kyon... smhThe problem is, there's nothing to build up to or any payoff. It's just Haruhi is a total bitch: the anime. oh, there's a useless moeblob and dumb rei clone, too! And wannabe smartass, Kyon!

cowboy bebop episode 1 never forget
So, girl who likes the occult summons a black witch and she starts undergoing training to become a black witch herself.
Broadcast order it is, then. Here we go.

Why are you even watching contemporary anime then? It's posts like this that make me wary of checking out Haruhi.

When you watch the show, think of Nagato as the main character and not Haruhi. The show is much better for it.It's posts like this that make me wary of checking out Haruhi.

Sounds like fun, and by "fun" I mean not fun.Lupin III: The Woman named Fujiko 01:
In a word... Titastic.
I really dig the art style and animation, but man the sexualization of this one is crazy. Tits tits, ass spanking and then more tits. It's weird because normally I'm all for tits, but not only is this a bit much even for me, but to be perfectly honest I've never found Fujiko to be terribly attractive because she's shaped like a lamp post with volleyballs taped to it.
