Yeah I liked the second better, but if they were shorter would have been more effective.
I still wonder why the anime studio decided to do this anime.

Hmmm. Quite different from the TV series. There were a few things I liked better and a few things I didn't like as much.
The good stuff first. This version of Yuu is better. Then there's also the character interactions between Yomi and Mato. The jealousy that came from Yuu "butting in" on Yomi's time with Mato was very believable.
There was also a friendship montage!
That's about all I liked better though. The animation and choreography wasn't as good and there were too few other world segments. It just didn't have the visual flair of the tv series and that was my reason for watching in the first place.

Give it a few more episodes. I didn't think the manga was that good at first either. Then there was a Hinata chapter that I found absolutely hilarious. Should be great if they get to that (which they should since it's relatively early).

For Steins;Gate know-its, it seems that Okabe gets quite a bit of one-on-one female interaction. I know that it was a visual novel, but wasn't sure if it had romance elements or not. Did it? Just curious....or should I just keep watching?

Butterfly attack!
I'll start with the positives. I like the world, it seems pretty awesome, lots of possibilities, the whole Burst Brain system seems very RPG-ish which doesn't surprise me that an actual RPG is coming out soon for this, and I could easily see myself watching this for more of the fighting and action.
But, boy oh pig, do I hate the Main Character. What a terrible design choice to make him round and look completely different from everyone else. What you couldn't make him look ordinary or something and maybe a little shorter like Keiichi from Ah My Goddess? But, no let's go all the way into this round blob of a MC. And, he has a pig as an avatar? In a world where you can customize yourself into pretty much anything from a cat girl to a girl with the biggest butterfly wings I have ever seen, you choose a pig? In addition to his non-existent self esteem, which I can hardly look forward to him dealing with, you got the making of a terrible MC.
Maybe if they focus less on the MC, I'll probably be willing to keep watching this.

I wonder how much ground the movie is going cover - seeing as the trailer seems to have sequences of the mother in her teens and how she met her husband all the way to the birth and taking care of her children. Mmm this might be the Tree of Life of Anime films.

Of course I asked those same questions when I watched Eiken for the first time.
