It is not two instructions per clock but fused multiply add instructions (so running a = b * c + d in a single clock for example). On top of that people are adding additional arithmetic units and allowing multiple instructions issue to the same vector unit (see VOPD which has yet to be used to be even close to 2x throughput boost).well, if you go by that logic then all out TFLOPS numbers are inflated and the PS5 only is a 5.1 TFLOPS system, the Series X 6 TFLOPS, the PS4 900 GFLOPS and so on.
all of these systems' performance is calculated with 2 instructions per clock per shader unit.
either way, these leaked clocks would mean 3.1 TFLOPS or 1.55 TFLOPS... but if you go by the latter you also have to cut the numbers of all other current and last gen consoels in half to compare
Better in both cases.Noob question. Based on the speeds and clocks is handheld mode same as ps4 now or better than steam deck?
No, it’s not… The Switch 2 with those specs destroys your phone in the real world performance.Well its not like nintendo is set up for high end graphics anyways.
Will be a big jump for nintendo games nut will struggle with third party AAA games.
My phone is more powerfull than this thing
Noob question. Based on the speeds and clocks is handheld mode same as ps4 now or better than steam deck?
GCN and RDNA 2 have dedicated scalar ALUs for integer operations though. Maybe there are some dependencies, but in any case teraflops are a very imperfect way of comparing real world performance between different architectures, since so many things can differ besides compute.well, if you go by that logic then all out TFLOPS numbers are inflated and the PS5 only is a 5.1 TFLOPS system, the Series X 6 TFLOPS, the PS4 900 GFLOPS and so on.

Less powerful than base PS4
Hopium everywhere. Enjoy your PS4 remakes at $70.
I am shocked, how many people believe in $400!IF the numbers are to be believed, this will be a beast of a handheld.
I am shocked this thing is so beefy. Gotta be $400 bucks maybe $429.
LoL… Wait until you discover the base resolution of the majority of PS5 and Xbox Series gamesThe year is 2025 and nintendo fans are celebrating playing 1080p and below at 30fps on their switch 2 while all hd tv's have been off store shelves for like a decade. The fact that the specs on this thing are this bad and they're going to charge 400 for it is appalling. I'm not graphics whore 'I love retro gaming' but the tech inside this thing is junk for the price they're going to want for it. Plus the lack of an OLED is just the cherry on top.

Sure bubba. If you say so. Lets compare benchmarks when the switch releases. No, it’s not… The Switch 2 with those specs destroys your phone in the real world performance.
I am in a $450-500 team.Do you think the number is too high or too low?'
I think 400 is a feasible number when you know this will sell (real world shit notwithstanding) 30+ million units in the first year. We know Nintendo wont take the hit on cost so they may need to sell the dock separately (I doubt it but the 2 sku idea exist) There is no realistic way to presume this will be anywhere near $299 without knowing the splits on the numbers so all we have is speculation.
LoL… Wait until you discover the base resolution of the majority of PS5 and Xbox Series games
If true, that’s what people expected. Can’t wait for docked info.
Calm down, that’s not going to happen, CPU frequency doesn’t change when docked. 2TF undocked and 4TF+ docked is my prediction.
I don't see any reality where Nintendo would release a console for $500I am in a $450-500 team.
Maybe, Nintendo will launch a lite or dockless version to provide a lower starting price.
Dude, you are comparing a Phone with a dedicated gaming device… I am not going to waste my time in that discussion. But, if you want examples, just search Switch 1 vs Phones of 2017 (With twice the hardware power) and then comeback.Sure bubba. If you say so. Lets compare benchmarks when the switch releases.
I give you my phones in the meantime
Actually this is really close to my expectations
Sir, this thread is about Switch 2, not PS5.Hopium everywhere. Enjoy your PS4 remakes at $70.
*below your expectationsActually this is really close to my expectations
It is hard to find electronics cheeper than $500 today! And it won't get any better in the foreseeable future!I don't see any reality where Nintendo would release a console for $500
Because tf don’t mean shit, low bandwidth and low clocks suggest it won’t be much of an upgrade, more like a ps4+. 1.1hhz cpu clock, means it cpu power will be very similar to steam deck.

yea so them hopes of getting current generation ports....seems more and more unlikely, so many features would have to be stripped, your right back in the Switch 1 situation with ports.
So I expect it to be no different with Switch 2
Being concerned about the power of Switch 2 is kinda strange.
If you're worried about the graphics you can buy any of these other Handhelds that's out or coming out but for a Nintendo handheld/ console it's going to be all about the Nintendo Games .
They won't sell no 140 million consoles with that price though. It's too much for a "toy" for the kids.It is hard to find electronics cheeper than $500 today! And it won't get any better in the foreseeable future!

Who the fuck plays games on a phone?
Sure. The newest iphones are also very powerful, techwise, but the constraints they have make it so their power cant be fully utilized.Sure bubba. If you say so. Lets compare benchmarks when the switch releases.

THe phone master race lol.Who the fuck plays games on a phone?
I must have missed all those handheld devices that run current games at 1440p and above. The year is 2025 and nintendo fans are celebrating playing 1080p and below at 30fps on their switch 2 while all hd tv's have been off store shelves for like a decade. I remember some guys here back in 2017 with the same arguments vs the Switch 1 .Sure. The newest iphones are also very powerful, techwise, but the constraints they have make it so their power cant be fully utilized.
Re4 remake on the iphone runs worse than the game runs on a ps4, and the iphone has a much better cpu and more modern gpu.
Those benchmarks mean nothing in the real world.
SteamOS will fill up the market in a year like android on phones. And it will certainly impact Switch 2 sales sooner or later.Fanboys in shambles yet again.
If Valve manages to ramp up their support for lower-end handhelds, they will take marketshare off Nintendo for sure.
Oh man I really tickled your ego, huh?Ohh really crapping on sony while nintendo the masters at low quality 'remasters' spam them nonstop. Like donkey kong country returns HD, donkey kong country tropical freeze hd WITH FUNKYYYY MODEEEE, the legenda of zelda skyward sword HD with nothing done to the textures besides a resolution bump, mario kart 8 a straight port from the wii u instead of a new game, kirby's epic yarn again another port job, etc etc etc etc. Nintendo are the kings of low quality port jobs that they hype up as 'remasters'
The Switch 2 is going to sell more than every PC handheld combined LTD in the first month… Even the Switch 1 is selling more by a big margin What are you talking about?SteamOS will fill up the market in a year like android on phones. And it will certainly impact Switch 2 sales sooner or later.
Even if Nintendo hits the $400 price point, they will likely face steep competition from the Steam Deck at $350 and the Legion Go S Steam version at $499.SteamOS will fill up the market in a year like android on phones. And it will certainly impact Switch 2 sales sooner or later.
steamdeck is much weaker from ps4, think same game/settings runs at 1080p30 on ps4, it will only run 720p/30fps on switch, if switch is as strong as ps4 in handheld mode, its actually solid winNoob question. Based on the speeds and clocks is handheld mode same as ps4 now or better than steam deck?
