The BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Official Thread [360/PS3] - Be Ready for the Rebel

I threw down 5$ on a pre-order today after work but due to some weird Vancouver bylaws I couldn't trade in the games I brought for the express puprpose of trading-in for BlazBlue. I'll just have to go on a lunch break. I have no idea if I'll get the artbook or even the Limited Edition but I don't really care either. As nice as the swag is, just getting the game is what matter to me.

Huh? I guess you got some games for super-ultra-cheap then? It's pretty rare to buy games for less than their trade in value at GameStop.

As far as I know, the LE is for the first run of the game, so you're likely to get it. The artbook is online only, unfortunately, and it looks like some of us who DID that may not even get it. *bitter tears, rage, etc*

Hmm, I think I might be really liking loli-Noel now. Just went toe to toe with a level 20 Bang player and took him to the limit 2-3, 2-3 in two matches...and that was my third time using the character. Dude must have been annoyed since he was getting extra hits in on me when he won...never see Japanese players do that! :lol

I think the regular version isn't even going to be released until the end of July.

I didn't see anyone else mention this, so here is a listing of all the options/preference markers you can set when creating a room in player match. This beats the pants off any other fighter on 360/PS3 that I can think of!

-Room Name
-Capacity (Up to 6 players)
-Spectators (Up to 4; you can set 1 if you have a 3 man room, 2 if it's 4, etc.)
-Friend Invitations
-Rotation Type (3 types)
-Number Of Rounds (Up to 5)
-Round Time
-Astral Heat (On or Off)
-Unlimited Characters (The default setting is on disabled)
-Easy Specials
-Voice Chat
-Room Level (Unspecified, Beginner, or Expert)
-Connection Quality

And don't forget that you can save replays after every match! :D

Wow, this sounds fantastic. For rounds, does 5 mean the number of wins needed to win the round, or is it best of 5?

I'm going to get an LE? Fuck yeah!

It wasn't the value of the games, I'm certain they'll cover most if not all of the cost, it was the time I attempted to trade them in. The clerk mentioned something about a city bylaw preventing the transaction from occurring because it was past a certain time.

Probably a noob question, but if you pre-ordered on Amazon with standard shipping do they send it out a few days before to arrive on the release date or do they ship it on the release date?

I don't see 4 player tag team on that list :p

Another option (never taken advantage of) was used in XBox Live games like KOF Maximum Impact, which allowed for tournaments to be made for up to 128 players. o_O

I think it's pretty random. There's no release date delivery on Blaz Blue, so it's probably sent on release date or after. They didn't ship SF4 until I think a couple days after it released.

And not to be negative but Amazon is pretty terrible with new game releases, at least for me. Don't be surprised if your game doesn't ship till a week after everyone else has it if not longer.

yeah my artbook says backordered too. does this mean we wont get one at all or that they will reprint and fulfill all preorders. I was under the impression that it was a while supplies last situation but back-ordered seems promising.

Ehh, they ship it out a day or two after once it comes out.
I'm close enough where 2 days becomes 1 day on shipping. (and 4 - 5 becomes 2 days)

Jesus that's awesome. My only concern with this game was the EO and I'm guessing that's what "Easy Specials" is. So no more concerns!

I kind of wish "Room Level" had an "Intermediate" option, but the fact that it's even there at all is pretty awesome.

If you're actually totally against getting the Limited Edition, GameStop is actually taking preorders on the normal edition too. I guess it's also there if you miss what is undoubtedly going to be a small initial shipment. And yeah, I think the computer did say end of July.

Yeah, in my experience Amazon's been much better with new releases recently. Received my copy of Devil Survivor today. Class of Heroes arrived a day or two after it hit stores. Same with Knights in the Nightmare. And...OK those are all Atlus games and they seem to be kinda cozy with Amazon. But things have been getting better!

I'm assuming this means you can prevent high pingers from joining.

They can't even pay attention to what their US arm is doing, much less the competition. :lol

Lyte - how are connections displayed? Ping times or bullshit "cell phone" bars?

Man... the only reason I pre-ordered from Gamestop was for the Artbook, if I just wanted the Limited Edition I would have went with Amazon :(

I haven't made my own room, but I believe this is just a preference. You can also search for matches that are close to your area only.

IMO the netcode in this game is better than SF4's, and again this is coming off of matches with mostly Japanese players! I joined a room tonight which had four of us from the States, and it was buttery smooth except for one or two seconds in a few matches, which was on my end.

It's also nice to be able to do custom or quick matches and ACTUALLY PLAY THE FIRST MATCH THAT COMES UP (!!!!!!!!!!!!) unlike SF4.

"Cell phone" bar style, unfortunately. But I can't complain since 99% of the matches I've played have been great. We'll have to wait and see what happens when more players jump on though.

No ping is a shame but not too big a deal I guess. The only other thing I could want is audio notification when someone joins your game. HDR does this. SF4 doesn't and it drives me nuts. Though if you really can easily join games maybe I won't need to host any more!

BlazBlue online sounds truly great. Looks like ArcSys knows what's up? (AkSys too?)
Mm-hm. Been playing a some Guilty Gear 2 online, waiting for Blaz to drop, and they hooked that up with all of the same options that are available in local play, including putting bots in for 3P and 4P, setting their difficulty and attack strength, starting and payout values for each map, auto-saves replays after online matches, and so on. They do know what's up.

I got a question about the online for those who have it.

Can two people on the same machine with separate accounts join the same online lobby and invite others to play?

Get the one you have more friends on!

If you don't have any RL friends that play lots of fighters.........then iono

Wow! BlazBlue Hori stick already out for delivery today. Hopefully, my parts should arrive by Monday and I can get my Frankenstick ready in time for NA release!

This will be my first time modding any type of controller. GAF, please pray that I don't kill my board.

To anyone whose order has already been verified on GS...did it change your status on the order page to anything besides "Pre-order etc etc"?

Eh... I kinda like the arcade interrupt feature in SFIV. I'll play single player while waiting for a challenge.

I much prefer having multiple people in a room queued to play, though. :)

It's pretty good in SFIV since it seems to be the only reliable way to get a game going, for some reason. I wait forever in "create room" and get people every 10 seconds in challenge mode.
