The BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Official Thread [360/PS3] - Be Ready for the Rebel

Thinking of grabbing this in the next few days, but a quick question - if I'm going to be playing with a standard pad (don't play enough fighting games to justify a stick), should I go 360 or PS3?

And please, no "just buy a stick!" or "just buy a fightpad!" recommendations. I'm strictly asking about the two standard controllers.

if you use the analog sticks, get the 360 version cuz the analog sticks are tighter. if you use D-pad, get the PS3 version.

Okay then, question 2 - should I use the sticks, or the d-pad? :lol

Traditionally, I have always used the d-pad, but I haven't really played a fighter in a long time. Seems like the analog sticks would make some moves easier but also some a lot harder (have always had a little trouble performing a dragon punch with a stick, for instance).

it's obvious you'd be more comfortable with the D-Pad.

If you're going with stock controllers, for the love of god, get the ps3 version.

This is necessarily true -- BlazBlue is rather friendly with the stock 360 controller. The D-pad works surprisingly well. It's still rough, but better than you'd expect.

A Conundrum:

If you play online with v-13, is it possible to finish a match without your opponent ragequitting?

These people will eventually get flagged for disconnecting too much. Muuahahahahaaaa.

Did Aksys say if any similar arrangements were being made for the 360 version? Flagging ragequitters, I mean.

get the ps3 version then. the dpad on the dshock 3 is much more serviceable.

PS3 / 360 patches addressed the same issues, including the flagging of ragequitters.

Plenty of comp on both, and 360 online is superior right now due to patch.

Hakumen is frustrating but fun when you get inside and just rape people.

Patch dropped for PS3 yesterday, is now the same as 360.

So wait, do I have to lose every battle once to get the extra few percentage points in some of these? God damn it :lol

Yesterday i read that BlazBlue uses per pixel collision ... its true?
I mean, hit box are pretty much the standard on 2D fighting games, is what i used to do a prototype.

So... game has been out for a little over a day now in North America, and almost a week in Asia/Japan.

How are you guys liking the game?

I've been finding myself playing more and more lately. I'm in training mode messing around with Arakune traps and trying to muscle memorize different instances to land Noel's bloom loop combos...

I even effin' changed my phone ringtone to ao-iconoclast (opening song) and made a custom wallpaper for my phone :lol ...

Also, who is going to Anime Expo?

Daisuke Ishiwatari and Toshimichi Mori are Guests of Honor. Anyone planning on going to get their copy of the game signed?

I'll be there, but eff a line. I'm getting my shit signed for sure though.

which system are you playing it the most?

say MarkMan, why didn't Madcatz make an official LE BlazBlue stick?
you seem to be on good enough terms with Aksys... was it a licensing thing with Arc?

Eh? What day? I'm only going on Friday so that'll hopefully be the day... but you're right. The line is going to suck ass.

Fake Edit: Ah cool, they will be there on Friday. :D

Today should be the day for Canada GAF. Hope to have my copy tonight.

Just called the EB I pre-orded from in Hamilton, Ont. and she said they'd be getting it in tomorrow =\. I guess as long as I can get it before the weekend...

Blazblue might be too niche for them to get that license.

I'm enjoying the game, but I never could get the hang of air combos and such. I still need to watch the tutorial DVD though.

Some characters are easier to do air combos than others. Akraune, BANG, and Tager are mad good in the air.

I'm on the same boat.

I can launch them in the air, do 2-3 hits minimum, and ill freeze up not knowing what to do next.

Going through Story mode with Jin. I'm at 65% with him. I've already completed Bang's :)lol). Anybody know what determines the branches in Ragna's story? I'm at 87% and I went through all scenarios and thought I lost to everybody in both.

Also, Rachel is worse than Slayer when it comes to butting into people's business! :lol

Yea! Screw the line. I'm driving up from San Diego on Friday and I'll be there with my daughter, I don't wanna put her through any crazy lines.

;)

Also I don't think BlazBlue is niche at all, but I DO think that it is crazy awesome how much attention this game is getting (review scores, game of the month awards, crazy coverage in print/online).... I don't think anyone expected this when the game was first announced for consoles... everyone was still in STREET FIYTAH FO! mode...

But thanks to SFIV, fighting games are back.

:D

Well, hopefully more people will be getting their nuts all up in a frenzy for Morning Musume instead. I checked the schedule and Daisuke Ishiwatari and Toshimichi Mori will be on at 10:30. I guess it's best to head to that spot when you arrive.

Hope to see you there man!

I'll be there Saturday too for the AKSYS panel. Daisuke/Mori should be there as well. I think. lol.

Hope to see ya too!

You gonna be sporting a pedobear shirt? lol

I'm...really not sure what you mean by this but whatever works I guess.

If SFIV didn't come out this year... we wouldn't have the great Sanwa shortage, nor would we have all these awesome competitive fighting game video streams/features on websites.

Also if SFIV didn't come out I probably wouldn't have a job lol.

One of my twitter pals interviewed them for gamingangels.com, and when she asked for advice on what to do when you are losing or stuck in a corner, their answer?

"Just mash buttons!"

Those guys are awesome.
