Does anyone else think online matchmaking for ranked matches is a little borked? I tried picking custom matches with people with similar skill levels when I first started and and it kept picking people with levels in the 20s even though I was level one. Now it tells me there isn't anyone of a similar skill level, but if I remove the "similar skill level" option and just search for custom matches I find plenty of people around my level. Also I picked a person that was level 7 last night, as that's around my level, but they kicked my ass. I was pretty surprised, but when I saw the results screen instead of matching me up with the level 7 player I'd picked it had matched me up with a guy that was level 23.

Yay got my first rage quitter. He was actually pretty decent, had some strong combos with Ragna. Then he tried v-13, and I was beating him soundly... near perfects sometimes. Then one match first round it was another near perfect, boom room was gone.

Nice to know my litchi actually infuriating now.

Lol thats was me, I picked bang by accident going up towards hakumen and never played him before lol.

I had to apologize to her coz I lost my first round at the tournament today Q_Q

granted, it was against a dustloop player who prolly has friends who play the game and more arcade experience than I do... he was hanging out with the other DL ppl there.

so to make myself feel better I went to the AX arcade and beat everyone there!

At first I didn't know what to think of the game but after a week of playing and then RIPPING my brother, I like it quite a bit :D

My favorite character is Rachel Alucard, I'm not to good with her but when I do want to do some work I pick Ragna.

Well let's see. I hit him and he barely takes damage. He heals I think (doesn't he normally do that?) and when he did his super on me it did 80% damage to me and healed him full.

Ragna heals a tiny bit with Drive attacks, but Unlimited is crazy. It also doesn't help that the range of his drive attacks seems to get larger in Unlimited form too.


[edit]But I do have to say, practicing in training mode against a 100 level Unlimited character helped make Hell mode arcade finish seem alot easier :lol

Doesn't his unlimited form basically have Blood Kain activated all the time except the negative effects aren't there? (health draining)

I will be, yes. I won't get my ps3 back and BB until next week though. It'll be nice to play a game with multiperson lobbies again after the 1v1 frustration of SF4.

Sad you, by that time everyone will be pros. You'll be sitting there spamming 2D with tager while everyone does 50 hit corner trap combos on your huge hitbox ass.

So I played a bunch of rounds against a friend who is (so far) exclusively playing as Nu. Neither of us really know many combos, but he does know a great combo off of a throw, which sucks for me. I gotta practice my freaken throw breaks. :p

I started off playing a few Arakune matches, but I've found I've been having a lot of fun playing as Jin as well. The coolest maneuver I've pulled so far was rapid canceling out of a 214C on a block, dashing back, and pulling a 632146C drive right afterward, killing my opponent with chip damage. :lol It was amazing, yet I numbly clicked past the "Do you want to save this replay?" screen without realizing it until immediatly after! ><

Just bought this off Amazon now. I wasn't sure if I wanted to wait or not, but I wanted Limited Edition and wanted to help this game sell.

Played it a lot in the arcade and got my ass handed to me, so I can't wait to get my ass handed to me on XBL. :lol

Don't play Carl. Just put in my order for full panel plexiglass and my afro art cutout. I'll post pics of the hot sex when I get that shit. I want a meshball top as well and some red buttons but akihabara is closed for the meanwhile.

I think Jin was the character I always chose. I learned how to use Jin pretty quick so I stuck with him.

Wow its pretty annoying when people disconnect at the end of a match on PSN i'm stuck in the results screen forever while its "connecting to the server"

Yep. A nasty jin is just as bad as good arakune player for me. If I try a rush and fail, you're gonna freeze and fuck me in the ass. If I get away with a failed rush and back off, iceboard and ice swords ALL DAY, barely manage to close the gap and then it's back to freeze shit again. All his moves basically scream FUCK OFF.

Decided to play Ranked Match finally. Got my ass handed to me twice by two really good Noel players. Then I played a Rachel. First win.

Either it's just me, or Ragna is waaaaay higher tier than Rachel. I'm pretty scrubby and it seems Rachel is the character I can consistently defeat.

generally, tiers don't matter until high-level play in any fighting game

If you play Ragna like I do, a well timed Dead Spike (keeping in mind the slow start up) is good to stop ice boarders who really like to leave a lot of space. If you're up close and a Jin tries to do that D move where the ice wolf comes out, Dead Spike has more range so just use it to your advantage.

Yeah, I play Ragna. That's good to know, I'll keep it mind. I love how my Bang strategy is just to guard low almost constantly. It works!...sometimes.

Oh my god, I pretty much got my ass beat constantly tonight in ranked. I atleast rose to level 10, but my win % went from 50 to 42. I had some incredibly close calls, one was against a Tager where I had such little health I couldn't even see it, went above his head and started a small combo that just nicked my a win on the third round, that happened again against a Bang but the other way around. :p

I think I have a new rival...taokaka. Holy fuck. I lost to three in a row, not even a single round won. They just jumped all over the place and kept getting me with the quick crouching swipe into that repeating combo, I don't know why but I could never stop it. I then, full of shame, scoped out lower levels just to hopefully win for my ego, and faced a level one who of course picked taokaka and I barely won that. I also don't think he even knew what he was doing, just jumping like a drugged up chimp and sometimes attacking. :lol

I saw some good variety tonight though. Despite being a Noel all the time, I didn't see any others--if I had an opponent who had Noel's picture on their card, I guess they saw mine and decided to always switch. In three instances that happened, and all three chose Nu instead.

I have faced every single character except a Carl now!

As a terrible player, I don't think I even want to attempt playing Carl -- ever. He looks like a character built for the most hardcore of the hardcore. I mean that in the sense that if someone plays him, he is going to tear your ass apart. Get caught in between him and Nirvana? You're fucked by both of them. Try to high or double jump over Nirvana to get to Carl who's hiding behind Nirvana? You're fucked by that air-clap move.

Moral of the story: you're fucked.
