The BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Official Thread [360/PS3] - Be Ready for the Rebel

Where are all the PS3 players at? The bray broo chat room always has like 5 or less people. :(

PSN ID - DigitalHero

Not enjoying the game too much at the moment. I may sell my copy if this keeps up, no sense getting frustrated over a game.

V-13 can pull off moves and trap without even being close to you. She can also use projectiles to keep you on your side the entire match.

Finally beat the game on Hell Mode with Jin. Working on Score Attack now for that Gold trophy.

PSN- MattyF. I'm still adjusting to the online scene. I'll play anyone, though.

so what does it mean exactly if the combo counter turns from a bright red to a dark red??? does that mean that it is possible for them to get out of it?

Dark Red means it's not "really" a combo; that is, you could've gotten away from the hit. That's my understanding of it, at least.

I pulled an (almost) all-nighter last night and FINALLY finished Score Attack mode with Jin. Man, Unlimited Ragna is a total ass! He can heal a ton of life with various attacks, especially Carnage Scissors, and he'll use the Azure to instantly kill you if he hits. Luckily, he has to be at close range to do that and you can stop him before it hits with low A's. You'll recognize the move, as the screen turns to the distorted blue background and the starting frame looks like he has red claws.

So, sorry for those whose invitations I ignored as I was trucking my way through. :lol But now I'm FREEEEE!!

After completing that hell, I thought it was funny to check the leaderboards and see how many of each character beat it. I forget the exact amounts, but I remember Nu was the most, then Jin close behind, then the rest are all waaaay less. Arakune in particular had only one person, even Carl had four, though that might have changed now.

Yeah, they fucked up the input for Noel's Astral Finish in the command list.

It's actually down, B, B, B, up B...I think. It's super easy to pull off and it actually combos off of one of her drive combos, lol

That's right, but with C. It's the only Astral I can actually pull off in fights. :p

:lol I did that, too. I was surprised there were so few people on there - something like 950 or so - compared to the 14,000 + on the ranked match board. That's on the 360 version, though. I sure as hell wouldn't do it again, though; I'm not that masochistic. It's a breeze until you get to V-13 and then it's like OMGEFFTHISGAMEIHATEYOU and then Ragna made me almost stop trying. :p

Ya make sure you turn both Air Teching and Ground teching in training. Otherwise you might be doing "combos" that aren't really combos.

Also, invite all these people to the blueblaz psn channel! I can't get on right now or I would.

When I beat it a few days ago there was only 600, it seems to be growing atleast!

And yeah, Unlimited Ragna gave me a rage migraine. I wouldn't care if my score ended up at the bottom of the leaderboard, I will never go through that again to improve it. :lol

The closest call I had was against Unlimited Rachel, somehow AFTER I barely beat her I still got hit with lightning, so awesome! I also don't even know how to use her like the AI does, atleast with making lighting appear everywhere.

You're supposed to do B, C, jump, C, D.

B, C, D at the end of that combo only works on some characters, like tager. I think you do more damage by leaving out that extra B anyway.

If you still don't land the D, try: f.C, dash, jumping A, B jump B, C, D.

Late reply, but thanks! I think it's your last combo that I was thinking of when I was testing it last night. I'll try out both combos later tonight when I have another chance to play. :D

While not having an HDTV is killing me right now, I think I might grab an HD monitor just for this game. It plays great on an SDTV, but I think this game begs for 720p.

I can imagine the perfect set up now...
17" HDTV on my computer desk
360 beside it, BB in the disk tray
Stick sitting in front

BANKRUPTCY FINNNNISHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

So, BB will be a... hmm...

$120 MadCatz Stick
$80 BlazBlue LE
$200 17" HDTV
$400 purchase

:[

That's pretty much my setup. Only 23' monitor and a TE =P. I need to get a vga cable though.

Just picked this up for PS3. (I'm very excited!)

I'm sure this has been discussed, but I was hoping someone could suggest the best button layout for a TE stick. I looked through the manual and can't decide on the best way to set it up.

TABC

Taunt starting the top row.

It's basically a Neo*Geo stick layout with a fifth button. I got cozy playing four button fighters this way thanks to Virtua Fighter's button mapping. In this case thumb is always over D instead of Guard. :X

Oh man, Taokaka's story is hilarious. I completely lost it when she got to the cannon :lol

Played around with Carl in training mode earlier, I gotta try and actually use him some time. Dude seems AWESOME.

Just beat Unlimited Rachel but holy shit... when she doesn't have to depend on the rods she becomes a whole other kind of beast.

Speaking of which... Don't know if its been asked already, but how exactly are you supposed to kill anyone in Story Mode? I tried Astrals but they don't seem to do it either.

Any tips on how to beat that insanely cheap unlimited Ragna with Nu? I've been stuck fighting this asshole for more than an hour. When I almost beat him he kept on doing his DD over and over and end up adding more to his health.

When I beat him as Jin, the best thing seemed to be keep the fuck away. That might seem obvious, but I mean get on the other side of the screen and Ragna's AI freaks out and also backs away and tries to punch at nothing, then just summon swords at him and hope for the best? With Jin those ice swords saved my life. Eventually he starts to close in, so I would use a distortion to push him back. He'll also try to use a carnage scissors but you should be able to counter from that far back. The biggest issue is getting that far away, from the round start he may leap up and block and completely shut you down.

Is Jin the best character to use against him? I might retry and use him instead. It took nearly an hour just to meet him.

I'd say he'd be the easiest, the AI will usually not stop his ice board and gets hit by the rapid C attack a lot, so it's pretty easy to atleast get to Unlimited Rachel.

I honestly don't get where all this Jin hate is coming from. He's no Ken of SF. Noel takes that spot a million times over. All the Jin players I've faced play smart and do his bread and butter combos. If you're falling for his freeze moves, L2P.

Taokaka and Bang both had such awesome stories.

All I've ran into are dudes spamming Ice Ride. Not falling for it, but it is preeeetty amusing.

"A nu player asking for a flowchart, irony!"

Pffffffffft.

Your flowchart fails, as well. Are you in a corner -> No -> Are they close -> Yes -> Backdash -> swordswordsword

Ice Ride with Jin is super annoying as Rachel, personally. It goes right above George, though it gets hit by Pumpkins pretty easily. I just keep screwing up getting out of frozen fast enough to not eat a combo (or throw -> combo) every time :( Also, sword spam outranges 6B and I'm still stupid enough to try to inch close enough to land it.

Though I did face my first non-Ice Ride spam Jin earlier (some level 35 Jin) and it wasn't pretty. Oh man, it was a depressing fight haha.

Ice slide spammers giving those of us trying to be decent Jin players a bad name. :p I'm definitely not saying I'm good - yet - but I don't resort to mindlessly sliding around and hoping for the best. :lol I've fought a couple of good Noel players, too, but I agree with you. Noel is the noob-friendly flowchart chick, hands down.

I can't believe how well a Dualshock works for this game. I have some Sega Saturn pads, but am not feeling the need to go to them unlike with Street Fighter. Much less reliance on spamming quarter circles all the time.

If ever I do start using the Saturn Controller, what would you guys suggest as the best button setup? Default seems iffy.

Also, one last question. If ever I buy a stick, does it work fine playing with the stick on your lap?
