ok i really want to play this game but im afraid of how i'll do with the atrocious xbox 360 dpad. anyone have any experience with this? any good? would it be worth it if i got the street pad instead? stick is NOT an option, i never felt comfortable playing with a stick for whatever reason. thanks...

Strangely enough, the d-pad works well. But I use the analog stick, which works fantastically. YMMV

I've been using the 360 controller fine, sometimes I use the control stick and other times the dpad, but I've actually been pretty surprised how accurate it's been for me.

...That's why I got the PS3 version.

so... this is my first fighting game gaf.. and i'm sucking HARD... I get kicked from rooms because I suck so hard. I'm playin as V13 and Ragna, b/c those two are the ones that I can wrap my head around somewhat. I watched the DVDs but that stuff is for high level play... I still like the game, but damn... Its not even that I can't pull of the moves- i just have a hard time transitioning from blocking to attacking, etc. and I keep forgetting the moves (it doesnt help that I keep forgetting what the buttons mean- wtf is this D C A bull? why doesnt the game just list abxy?)

Another note- I'm playing on the SFIV gamepad- will this help me? I heard playing on a reg controller is no good, so for a fighting game virgin this was the cheap alternative I guess.)

I am a bit torn between playing BB with a stick or the PS3 pad - I've never become really comfortable with the arcade-stick, but all of my [ Guilty Gear -crazy ] friends play with a stick, and recommend it for 'hardcore gaming'. Should I just practice with the stick until I master it, or 'stick' to the more familiar pad?

Mind you, I'm babbling to myself rather than asking a genuine question, so I don't expect you to answer.

probably have to wait until NPD

I;d be highly shocked if any BB sku made the top 10, we might find out how it ranked on the 360 or pS3 specific charts, but with all the big releases in recent weeks a 2D fighter not based on a Capcom propety has no chance.

The 360 analog stick worked pretty well for me on Street Fighter II.

that sounds great, especially that you can actually use the analog stick. i had the ps2 and xbox version of guilty gear and had a terrible with the xbox version, the analog stick wasnt an option and the xbox dpad was horrifically inaccurate in that game

He's low-tier. There are so many ways to beat him.
He's low-mid, but not low. Now Bang and Tager are low. :lol

I played a really good Carl in player match today. I think they were japanese cause they set up the clap trap perfectly. There was literally nothing I could do except tech and burst. :lol

Ok guys, which version should I buy? Is thre a superior version here? I have arcade sticks for both systems.

PS3 if you care about Remote Play via PSP

Otherwise, the consensus seems to be that they're pretty much identical.

Seems like most of the competition is on the PS3, not that it really matters.

The main incentive is whether or not you have any friends that will get it on one system over the other.

Anyone wanna play on the PS3? I have a good hour or so.

Remote play would only be good for watching replays. In fact...that's a pretty good idea! :D

There's already a goddamn tier list? Fuck me.

yeah man since the arcade version hit the streets, we've been hearing Tager and Bang are bottom feeders for like ever. Personally though I say meh, all the characters are dangerous in the right hands. On that note V-13 is loli mecha sword spamming evil!

I've never had much success actually playing games with remote play, but you sir bring up a very interesting possibility I hadn't considered!

Got to Hakumen on Score Attack and he is made of shenanigans! Grabbing me out of the air and all other lskdfklslf

The easiest way to beat score attack is to not play score attack =|

Volcynika, what's your PSN. I need to add more PSN players!

Like I'm telling everyone, I'm not on much this week (well usually just late night between 9-11 PM CST), due to lots of works, so don't think I just don't play :p

The only shenanigans in Score Attack was the game making you beat people like Unlimited Rachel, Hakumen, and Nu just to fight a cheap bastard who is the only thing standing in your way to victory. =(

I've been playing Tager in ranked tonight...hit and miss, I guess. I still don't know much with him, but it's fun. I put a few Noel D spammers in their place, I never actually faced one before tonight but wow...they really do nothing but that. Also, Tager's 720? My god, some of the people I've faced tonight have raged so hard at that attack. I also just faced a Taokaka that did a barrier burst at the start of the round, why do people online seem do this so much?

Playing ranked can get grating after awhile, I'm up for any 360 player lobbies if any one is running one.

That's fine. I'm still awful.

Noel is the only character I'm half competent with because her combos are ridiculously easy. I would really like to learn to use Rachel though. She's just a ridiculously awesome character (especially in Story mode).

Man, I played another half dozen matches. Won once, lost like 5 times...but still having a lot of fun (actually almost beat a level 38 when I had an incredible streak). I'm still absolutely stunned at the netcode. I have yet to have a laggy match. Every match has felt as good as local play. I don't know how this is possible, but Arksys has pulled off the best fighter netcode out there.

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
I'm thinking about getting this for 360. Are there a lot of people playing on it? Seems like its mostly PSN tags being passed around.

Anyone else find the Dualshock works abnormally well in this game? I'm not much of a fighting guy by any means, but the Dualshock didn't quite feel adequate in Street Fighter. However, I feel like I'm not being held back by the controller at all in this. What I put into the controller is the move I get out of the game. No accidental jumps, no failed quarter circles. Maybe it's just me.

There's still a lot on the 360, even if the PS3 has the majority here. The more the merrier, either way.

It isn't just you. I've been using the 360 d-pad and control stick perfectly fine here.

Clearly there is some other kind of witchcraft going here aside from the amazing netcode. :lol

Heh, PS3 version is now sold out just about everywhere online, and the 360 version is soon to follow. Going to be a good 3 weeks before the next shipment is in, and that will only be normal editions.

There are plenty of 360 users playing this game, the majority of my fl is playing this.

After practicing a bit, the 360 dpad isn't really that bad. And that analog stick is pretty decent as well. Tager's 720 is cake now that I've adjusted.

However, my friends have banned me from using Nu now. :/
