Nah, I checked and I have all of the art for Jin. It's 3% so I'm wondering if I just somehow missed losing to someone even though I think I didn't.

Any of you guys know if you completed Jin before doing any other characters? The only other character I've played/completed is Ragna.

I did Jin first and got him to 90% then moved on to others. Then the Hakumen thing gave me 8% and at 98% I was still missing an ending, which I got from losing to Ragna on the first path. 3% is a small amount so it's probably one or two fights you still need to lose.

What is there to unlock besides pictures and trophies? It seems you get all the characters already at the start of the game and all the maps.

Unlimited characters(only of Hakumen, Nu, Rachel, and Ragna), and Astral Finishers from Arcade mode.

They do have the essentials unlocked from the start which I would consider a good thing.

Alright, just did my 100th ranked match and I'm at a dead even 50-50. :lol

With Tager I'm now 34-27 which isn't too bad I suppose, though the only other person on my FL with him is lyte edge who is 29-9. ;_;

So far Hakumen and Ragna are my kryptonite, especially Hakumen. I don't think I've beaten a single one, and they usually just do the same moves. I'm just horrible at countering them and even with the most health in the game, Tager still drops quickly against him!

Alright guys, I need help doing air and ground recovery. My big problem is that I never know when I can recover, so my strategy thus far has been to mash A until I get up. Problem is, this leads to me recovering and then throwing out an attack, leaving me open to a meaty anything for the counter.

How should I be determining when to attempt to recover? Do I just need to learn the timing? And what's the timing based on? Time of last attack? Or does the hitstun of the last attack matter, too?

The arcade stick I was playing with broke. : /

So I resorted to my ds3.

Using the stick is surprisingly easy. Too easy. I keep messing up with Noel, using her optic blasts when I mean to use her forward A. :|

This is matchup dependent so far as I can tell. You'll gradually when you can tech out of combos as you play more and learn your opponent's combos and when they end. Also, Some characters have "Tech Traps" that are designed to hit you if you tech at the wrong time.

I always thought when that hit counter thing stopped being bold red you could escape from it. I guess I'm wrong cause I've been having trouble too.

Speaking of having trouble, how bout having winless streaks when going on fighting games. Nothing as fun as that.

The dark combo means you could have escaped, but didn't. I guess they'd be considered "fake" combos.

Damn and I thought SF4 matches got epic.

Just had a great match with Noel Vs. Bang.

The guy got me with the tempest kick(the grab move right) and at the last hit where he kicks you straight downward I teched out and came straight down on top of him with her drive and did a 20 hit combo to win the match.

Soooo awesome.

Alright, I'm on board! Finally caved and bought this. I'm pretty terrible at fighting games but I can learn!!

So far I'm liking Tao and Nu the best, but that's only after having played 3-4 hours against the computer and my little bro who is about as terrible at fighters as I am. Tao has some fun stuff though, for sure, but I'm already noticing that against high damage chars it gets a bit scary.

i was so horribly off tonight, kept missing the 2C combo like crazy and when i would get it i'd bork the 236C finish.

You know I was putzing around in training, and least against Jin it seems you do have to do the 6C juggle after the 22C.

22C, D, 6B, C, 6B, C, 236D

Simple as hell.

yeah, one of her basic B&B combos that i never use, i gotta start incorporating Drive more.

and i know she has a combo that can only be used against Rachel, still need to practice that one though.

edit: although i did discover a new combo tonight playing a new guy.

D, 6B,D, 68D, 66C, BC, 66C, 2A, 2B, 2B, 2C 236C

i love this combo now, the 68D is untechable so it's just a world of hurt for the other guy.

Tokubetsu, bistromathics, Jube3, sonicspear64, Foxix, and other XBLers, I can finally return tonight at about 10PM EST
I hope to record some stuff too, so bring the shenanigans!

I know this is out of nowhere but I couldn't help but laugh at this avatar. I rate it beautiful. Sorry continue with the BB discussions.

My TE stick takes some getting used to. First try with an arcade stick. I'm getting pretty decent with most of the motions now. It's a hell of a lot more fun to play anyways.

I do feel quite a bit less mobile at the moment though. Double tapping in the air is particularly difficult (especially to the right).

Just played my first Noel online. Man, I got raped. I usually use Noel too, but I chose Jin for something different. Probably worst choice. =P

It's gonna take weeks maybe months before you get a real feel of the sticks, but once you do your never gonna wanna play a fighting game on a pad again if you stick with it.

Not sure how much this'll help but you can jump forward (9) and then instant air-dash with a single forward (6) in the air. Timing is a bit tricky but it's useful. The dashing was definitely one of the "casualties" in the switch to a stick. Still adjusting to mine as well :(

I just beat Ragna's story, and I only got about 50% or something. I went back through and chose a different option in one of the dialogues, and then it went up to 70%ish.

There were no other dialogue branches in game, so, how do I get the extra percentage? >_>

Have you tried losing all the battles yet?

I'm too scurr'd to play this now. Every day, every hour I don't play, every one else gets better. ;___;

Don't worry, some of us are really awful. I'm like 3-11 in ranked. :lol

I'm gonna need to pop in the Blu-Ray again so I can check out the Rachel combos. The advanced section was awful for her. Hopefully the combos help me out.

I know I shouldn't be starting with such an advanced character...but she's so cool! She's got a friggin' BEANBAG KITTY CHAIR!

well you certainly can't expect to get better if you're too afraid to play others
why not do some friendlies with GAF members?

I haven't been home that much to even sit down and play the damn thing :( I've added a few GAF members on PSN though.

Anyone on GAF use Tager a lot? I'm trying to use him as my sub but I'm still kinda shaky with the whole magnetism thing.

Holy crap, guys, I just beat story mode. And the ending is amazing. I haven't seen any discussion on the story mode so far (probably because it's long and the story itself is confusing as shit), but the ending by itself was soooo great. I guess no one else has played
the True Ending story path yet? The final matches against Hakumen and Nu were awesome.

By the way, you don't need to get 100%s on every character to get the ending. You just need a Clear End for each character. 100%s only get you those audio interviews with the Japanese VAs.

I may just have to jump in next time a GAF group starts up then.

After seeing Mike Z. go off with Tager, I can't help but feel inadequate.

I got absolutely destroyed against a lvl 34 tager the other night. He knew how to use the magnetize shenanigans well. I was bouncing off of walls right back into his arms constantly. Barely landed any hits on him... really don't know how to get out of that mess once he starts it.

Oh wow, didn't realise that'd make a difference. I lost the first battle by accident, so I suppose I should just make saves before each battle and lose each time. Now it makes sense why the game asks you to save so often. =P

I just lost two ranked matches in a row as Jin by less than chipping damage, i nearly ragekilled my cat.

lol you played with taokaka?

Anyone else think the dialogue on some parts are wierd and dont make sense? Some of the conversations between characters were confusing and felt out of place.

Once to Ragna (the guy was 10 levels ahead of me, I was hoping to pull out an upset) and once to Hakumen (my usual character, the guy was the same level and I should have pulled it out).
