Anyone on GAF use Tager a lot? I'm trying to use him as my sub but I'm still kinda shaky with the whole magnetism thing.

I've been using him a lot now, still not all that great with him but he's really fun to play. The Mike Z tutorial on the other disk actually helped me quite a bit, I'd try watching that first.

Added a few of the names on PSN, shoot me an invite to the chat whenever. Due to my schedule though, I'm usually not able to play until very late (like past 1AM EST), though occasionally I can on a few weekday afternoons. :D

Yeah it does help, I just can't get the rhythm down with the magnetism yet. The way he bounces guys off of walls twice then pulls them right into the 263C is a thing of beauty. Magnetism isn't like Rachel's wind thing. You've really got to hit someone 'just right' for them to be pulled where you need them to be. Also, 41236D is easily the best projectile in the game. I've made Jins around the world cry when they get bounced of the ice sled into a 720 Hell DD.

After winning my very fist ranked match with tao I kind of want to get better with her... I looked up some of her combos but they're insane looking :lol

I printed them out as a reference and ended up with 2 pages of nearly microscopic print... I wish I didn't have to wear glasses :lol

I'd rather have button presses than combo's that rely exclusively on positioning, character you're facing, and timing.

Switching from Nu to Tager is rough :/

Yeah, I also love using the spark bolt as a phasing thing. If they back up near the end and expect it coming, I'll use it because I just want to magnetise them, then I jump closer and do the 720 and hold it down to suck them right into it. :lol

I can almost perform the 720 10 out of 10 times on the regular 360 controller. Its easily the best DD in the game. Especially because they fucked around and allowed you to suck someone into it. And Tager's other DD makes him immune briefly too...

I need one more good character just for kicks. I want to try Noel but I can't help but abuse her Drive. I can't 'just' stop the chain at two with it. Bloom Trigger and her Chain C attack is just too strong to not be spammed at every opportunity.

I tested the 720 in practice with guard break and negative penalty on. Is it going to be frequent? No, but it did 16850 damage, while Tager has the most HP at 13000. :lol

I started with Noel and went to Tager, I'd just go into practice and learn the ins and outs of her drive. I always liked doing the gun swing to pull them into a distortion, though I haven't used her in awhile and don't remember the exact input off memory.

Is that a knock against the game or only certain characters? I still have no clue about the intricacies of the game.

Think he meant characters. I know litchi's combos are heavily dependant on where you are on the screen, due to how long it takes for her staff to return and hit them in mid flight. Wrong combo at the wrong spacing, and the staff wizzes under/above them when it returns. Carl also has funky hit boxes so the usual combos I use wiff on him.

Ah yeah. Rachel seems ridiculous in that regard. I really want to use her but I just don't know if I'll get to the point where I can use her proficiently.

Gah, its really hard to play Jin when there is tangible hate radiating towards you from other people that play this game. More people need to play Arakune and v-13 to divert some of it.

I cant really decide on any other characters that i woud like to play, Taokaka's antics are more entertaining if you just watch them from the side.

Probably been answered, but does the PS3 version perform just as well online as the 360 one?

I haven't compared since I don't have the 360 version, but it's been pretty flawless so far. I've played around 25 matches or so, and only one match had any noticeable lag at all. The netcode in this is game astounding.

Yeah he really seems like the Ken of BlazBlue. Easy to use, fast longrange tactics that are hard for new players to avoid. Experienced players have no problem countering my cheap Jin tactics though. :lol

It might be just me, but I play on both and I feel the 360 version is more consistent latency wise. Even post patch.

I need to play it more though with people from all over/random ppl. I mostly play with people in the socal area online.

Hard to tell unless you're playing with the same people.

Often times the character into is laggy for a while until it gets synced, but after that point, it feels perfect.

Noel's C and A mixups are good as is, no need to spam D.

Seems to me like you really need her D combo to get a good special in though. I try to do a 236D finisher before I use my special if I can.

I just write it down when I figure it out, so I don't forget later. Hence the various types of confusing notations :lol

Rachel seems like she has a ridiculous amount of character specific combos. I can't handle all that shit. I tried learning ragna but so many moves that only work after other moves blah blah blah. I fear I won't really play another character besides Nu until BlazBlue YY.

Well, they're easier than they sound to remember, to be honest. For example, with Rachel:

6B Counter Hit -> Dash 6B -> D+6C -> j.C) -> 5B (on the ground) -> D+6C -> j.C -> 5B -> CC OR 3C -> 214A.

Looks overly long and complicated but it's really just three attack repeated. From there, there's plenty of variations of that same combo as you can switch out the second half for most her moves (3C instead of the entire second half to ground them earlier, for example). A lot of Rachel's combos are the same moves repeated, like all her aerials are j.B, j.C -> jump -> j.B, j.C -> 214B OR 2D+C. They "look" hard but once you try them, it's less work than you think and becomes reflex.

And, yeah, the character specific ones are a bit annoying to remember but thankfully they're more for multiple characters and not just one. That and a few good combos that work on everyone anyway. Oh well, I still need to learn more combos as I just stick to the few I know real well :(

wtf

Why the new lexicon? It just makes things look like programming code. Hopefully someone can answer this: Do you gain anything from doing Story Mode? Also, are there unlockable costumes, stages, characters (beyond the "unlimited" versions) in the game? Anything besides Unlimited X and Astral Finishers?

The first fighting game community that adopted it that I can remember is Soulcalibur....

I'm still getting used to that myself. I haven't been playing the game much unfortunately. I really need to work on combos and such. But when reading that I sit and stare in the air and like "down, down-right....forward....ah"

Now show him Arakune's easy combo list

That shit looks like a damn calculus problem. Not to mention that most of them are also character/space dependent. Once I get my joystick back, imma get his 6c loop down so I can actually do damage.

-PXG- said:

Keep in mind all those numbers are just directions, then everything looks a lot simpler. For the most part, BnB combos in BlazBlue are pretty easy compared to SF4.

Yes indeed. It means sitting in training trying to pull it off. And then you get into an actual match and you forget everything and don't know what the fuck to do. Bargh.

Fixed.

I can't wait to go back to school. There, I'll have enough free time to actually sit down and get good at this fucking game.

I must've gone against atleast six hakumen players, and I still have yet to win against him ever. I just can't beat him with Tager. D:
