Just got it!

I can confirm that the Japanese version is dual-language and defaults to English on start-up.

Hell Yeah! I should have mine today or tomorrow! It is great to hear that this is import friendly.

Yup, everytime-- Loads and plays the game fine, but try do an install do the HDD and it gives a read error at zero percent. What gives?

So I just found out that this is not available locally in Canada... anywhere.

FUCK!!

Wait, what? I thought the game is scheduled for release until the end of the month in the states and we usually get our games a day or two after them. So what do you mean by it's not available locally? Like no one is selling it or no one has leaked it here early?

He forgot to upload the first part of the first video though, so I can't put it online just yet :(

Since you know your stuff when it comes to these things: is it that bad? And is the 360 version any better or worse? You're making me reconsider my import, here. :lol

I've had a review copy for a few days now, and I must say that I actually prefer this over KOF12. Plus the visuals are a lot nicer, and a lot smoother than those of KOF12; there are some aliasing quirks, but very minimal ones most people will have to really for on the fighters.

360 version is worse.
PS3 has a Sanwa JLF lever, while the 360 has a Hori knockoff. Both sticks use Hori buttons soldered directly to the circuit board.

In other words, I'm going to be borrowing pop's soldering iron and ordering a new lever w/buttons. :p Thanks.

Edit: Actually, I'm just going to continue using my SF4 fightpad until my custom ships. It sucks, but I never have any problem pulling off my specials with the pad anyway. Thanks for the info!

Anyone know of any differences between the two versions of the game?

(meaning feature sets, graphics, load times, sounds, etc)

I don't know about the "smoother" part. I think XII looks more animated than BB.

Can we actually keep the KOF vs BB discussion to a minimum? I know that their close release makes comparison tempting, but I don't want this to be the next "inFamous vs Prototype" =P

This. It's annoying.

Agreed. Let's talk about KOFXII's merits in its own thread. Some of us are trying to masturBBate here.

Online lag is weird. I've played people from Japan in matches where they end up dropping on me due to how HORRID the lag is, and then some where everything is laggy right up until the match starts, then it gets pretty smooth!

Observations:

-There's blind character select in ranked matches.

-A card is displayed after the select screen with info about yourself, mainly who you main and who your sub character is based on usage.

-If you have J voices enabled, your character will speak Japanese, but if your opponent has English voices on, his/her character speaks in English! Nice touch.

-You can create (and name!) a room for up to six people and they can observe the fight in progress. HOWEVER I was unable to join rooms with matches on-going; dunno if they were private or not.

-You can save replays after every match!

So far I am using Litchi and Taiga. I liked Taokaka in arcades and may go back to her too. Bang also seems pretty cool.

And there's some pretty funny dialogue. I heard Litchi say "My breasts are not beat buns!" after a round. :lol I wonder if it's the same in English; haven't tried the English voice out yet.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of blind select?
I mean, can't someone counterpick the character you're most likely to chose statistically?

This is huge. The bolded basically solves every problem I had with SFIV's online. Preorder can't possibly ship soon enough. My girl is already prepared for the possibility of not being able to pry me from my chair whatever day my copy's delivered. :lol

Not available in Best buy, Future shop, etc etc etc. You can buy it online but not in any local stores.

(Not sure about EB Games though).

That's weird. I just checked BB and FS online for myself, and you are correct. They do not have Blazblue listed. I think your best bet it hitting up some local EB Games stores and seeing if they have any extra copies.

Well, last I checked, you can only get the game in Canada if you preorder it. You can't expect to walk into the store and get it. Gotta go pre-order it right now! I'll let you know if EB Games are still taking pre-orders.

I should stop reading this thread. It only serves to increase my hype meter even further for a game I wont be playing for another week. And to make matters worse I leave for vacation on the 2nd of July so I wont even get to play it for a day or so before I go out of town for a week. Oh well!

Still, I love what I see in the videos and the game looks like awesome fun. Can't wait!

Damn that's terrible. I've already got two copies pre-ordered. I did it a while ago (I don't usually do such things but I guess it finally paid off).

Good luck with the pre order! Let me know if you get one or not!

Yeah, can somebody check to see if you can preorder the game at EBGames Canada? When trying to find information on the Canadian release I just simply couldn't find much information at all.

You SOB...Play Asia has been on back order for this for a while now. Can I ask where you bought yours from?

Play-Asia:D

I noticed they were sold out for the longest as well, so I signed up for the email reminders...lo and behold, I received an email saying it was in stock, so I rushed to my pc to snag a copy. Honestly, I think I got the last one, because soon as I placed my order, the stock changed to "back order" :lol

Oh this sounds wonderful. Is the netcode GGPO style? I hope your install problem isn't an an issue with all copies...I mean, it sucks if you got a bum copy or your 360 is dying! But it would suck more if I had to deal with fan noise while playing!

I should hopefully have a copy by the weekend. Turns out the Japanese release isn't fully region locked. It can be played on US consoles. So I'm assuming the US version can be played on Japanese consoles. I wish I'd known this before I placed my order. Agggh.

The netplay usually lags prior to the actual fight starting as it is synchronizing.

When it does lag up it is usually towards the end of the fight.

However there is a title update coming up for this game around US launch date? , supposed to help online play and add some other things.

I had pre ordered both the PS3 and 360 in store a few months ago at my local EB Games no problem. I checked today at lunch about the Canadian release date. I was told that the game comes out on the 1st (which is a holiday). I take it we will get the game the following day.

It's my system, not the game. I tried removing the HDD and reinserting it, and that seems to have done the trick...the game is installing now! :D

Yeah, I have a Japanese system, and when I boot the game up in English, it even gives me the "Aksys Games" logo. Same disc for both Japan and U.S.

Ah, I've gone and just placed a order for one. I'm just going to wait for the restock. It's nice to see that the restock reminders actually work :lol

This game is nothing like SF4 lol. I'm having huge problems adapting. Also there was already an update. What was it for? I guess I gotta watch youtube videos to explain more of the game.

Don't see any option to share replays online.

You can also do a clean pause in replays and in offline matches. Makes it easy for screenshots!

I have said before that I liked the arcade version of BB more than the arcade SF4. Not sure about the console versions since I've come to like SF4 a HELL of a lot more over the past months, but online lag issues aside, BB offers more options, ROOMS, and feels so incredibly fresh after SF4's mostly recycled cast. I'm digging it.

Don't expect to be able to jump right in and kick ass if you've only been playing SF4 all this time, BTW. It plays very differently and will take some getting used to.
