I'm on the fence about buying this (this early at least, my backlog is getting pretty obnoxious), but the limited edition is going to end up forcing my hand.

I suck balls at fighting games...I brought the SF pad and started to improve ( still got my ass kicked but I improved, then I stopped playing.

for this game I wanted to try an arcade stick but since I'm poor I can;t afford the 100 dollar one. On buy.com they have this cheap one with free shipping and I wanted to get that....but is it a dud?

uh, PS3 version has remote play

Oh shit! I did NOT know that! :O

I just reserved my copy at EB Games. Yes, Canada. EB Games (and VideoGamePlus if you live in Toronto Area) is the only store that is taking the preorder and most likely, just like the fightstick and fightpad, will disappear into abyss after the first week or so.

Get it while you can!!!

Ofcourse you can preorder it online if you LOVE spending money on $30 shipping via amazon.com or $20 via Gamestop

Yikes, I had no idea it was going to be such a limited release (in Canada at least)

Gonna head up and see if I can still pre-order this evening...

EDIT: Huh... So they closed at 6. It'd be great if that was on their website. :lol

Yeah, the boss versions are normally unlocked by playing story mode. I'm guessing the unlock key is 360 exclusive, but the unlimited characters aren't.

So it's been confirmed the unlimited characters are in both version?

Well, I can't confirm it (can someone here confirm it?), but it seems reasonable to expect both versions to have it. The only thing I can say for sure is the key is there for absolute lazy fucks.

Gonna end up picking this one up either way but is there quarter lobbies online or is it just 1v1 like street fighter 4? Lobbies would make this a much easier sell for my friends.

it's a lobby. I believe it has been mentioned in this thread, 6 people can be in a room

Online lag is weird. I've played people from Japan in matches where they end up dropping on me due to how HORRID the lag is, and then some where everything is laggy right up until the match starts, then it gets pretty smooth!

Observations:

-There's blind character select in ranked matches.

-A card is displayed after the select screen with info about yourself, mainly who you main and who your sub character is based on usage.

-If you have J voices enabled, your character will speak Japanese, but if your opponent has English voices on, his/her character speaks in English! Nice touch.

-You can create (and name!) a room for up to six people and they can observe the fight in progress. HOWEVER I was unable to join rooms with matches on-going; dunno if they were private or not.

-You can save replays after every match!

So far I am using Litchi and Taiga. I liked Taokaka in arcades and may go back to her too. Bang also seems pretty cool.

And there's some pretty funny dialogue. I heard Litchi say "My breasts are not beat buns!" after a round. :lol I wonder if it's the same in English; haven't tried the English voice out yet.

So what about it this art book from GameStop.com? I've read of it still being available as of two weeks ago, but the site makes no mention of it. Does anyone know if it's still actually available? I was considering pre-order from GS, but paying a $10+ GS premium (I have to pay shipping and sales tax? Way to fail GS) for some risqué pics of animu girls that are going to end up available to anyone who wants them anyway (cruel reality of the internetz) seems like a bad idea.

I missed this before, but YES, YOU CAN UPLOAD REPLAYS!! :D You get that option in ranked (not sure about player matches) after the match is over and before you have the option to save the replay to your hard drive.

It seems that in ranked, you only move up based on the amount of points you get from a match (you get 10 or so even if you lose), and bonus points are awarded for certain conditions (first attack, didn't burst, etc.). I'm up to level 4 now; highest level I've seen so far is 16.

Most of the matches I've played have been against Japanese players, and only a few have had any real bad lag. The synchronization process that happens before the match begins seems to work pretty well!

As far as the online component is concerned, Blaz Blue spanks the competition in terms of features. Makes the little SF4 offers seem even more bare-bones.

BTW, for those who have never seen or played the game before, Blaz Blue uses 2D sprites on top of 3D backgrounds, so you get stage intros that show various parts of the play area. The sprites fit in perfectly with the 3D settings, and it just looks superb.

Not sure. It used to be mentioned on the GameStop.com website, but all mention seems to be gone now. Maybe all of them are taken now?

Using the SAVER promo code usually gets you free shipping at Gamespot.

That's the stick I've been playing SF4 with and I've been doing pretty well with it(see the tournament threads).

Don't expect to be able to jump right in and kick ass if you've only been playing SF4 all this time, BTW. It plays very differently and will take some getting used to.

I'm counting on that. >.< I recently started playing GGX2 again thinking that a crash refresher course in that game's mechanics might help me prepare. I'm probably still going to be making training mode my bitch for a night or two when BB finally comes. :p

I hope we haven't seen the last of GG, though. I do so love Baiken and her big, beautiful
COUNTERS, you pervs

Can any PS3 owners out there answer my earlier questions about voice chat? Is there any, is it open mic, can you disable voice or specific users?

Best character design ever. I think I'm going to make her my main because I just love the nuttiness so much!

So how's the story mode? Not that I really care, but since they were touting it...

Or is it throwaway/not interesting and I'd be better off going straight into practice/local/online play?

can someone post some videos of high level play?

all of the ones i've seen have been casuals and weren't that entertaining.

edit: oh, what's the deal with the gorilla plate joke? i am unfamiliar with this :D

Quick and hopefully not too redundant question:

Is the US version region free so that my cheapass euro 360 can play it?

loves Arcade Sticks
Holy shit... the title update from today for BlazBlue improves the netcode SO much... I'm in Southern California and I played versus the same pals I've been playing pre-update and now the connection is just as good as when I play my other socal friends!

AKSYS/ARC, you guys did an excellent job!

No longer does the connectiond/latency degrade as the match goes on, it is consistent after the initial synchronization.

Lobbies, spectators, passing your turn.

This is a fighting game with an excellent online experience.

You are the reason I joined SRK, you are the reason I ordered not one but TWO sticks and you are the reason I'm buying this game...
