The Blood of Dawnwalker — Cinematic Trailer & Gameplay Teaser

These games are announced so early for staffing. They need to hire people with expertise in this genre for the next 4 years. This is a "come apply" trailer.
From what I heard it's quite the opposite with this game. They were already working on this for several years and are aiming to show more later this year so it doesn't necessarily need to be that far ahead from release as you're implying. It's apparently not the same scope as The Witcher 3, but more akin to Blood and Wine

Looks awesome. I like how you have a big slappy hand and hope you can upgrade it with mutations similarly to marauders in Warhammer Online .

Great trailer, if I understand correctly they are going for a world where humans are terrible, and it's the vampires that are good, or at least "more noble". Interesting spin, reminds me a bit of Interview with a Vampire. I guess they are teasing if the MC will be turned into a vampire, or if they will decide to keep him human.

Looks promising, the protagonist gives me shadow of war's talon vibes, hopefully it's not gonna be a bland motherfucker like that one.

Also, "generic" white dude protagonist, reeeee is gonna love it :messenger_sunglasses:

Pretty sure he was already a vampire at the end of the trailer with the glowing eyes, sliding down the building using his claws (that spark) to slow his descent.

But maybe that's just one story path you can take, who knows. If there's an option, I'm damn well picking the vamp route. We've got a surprising lack of anti-hero games lately.

He is a hybrid. Didn't fully mutate because he was suffering from silver poisoning when he got turned.

Maybe he just traded some menthol cigarettes in prison...

Totally in for a dark fantasy ARPG from these guys. Like the premise here with Vampires or monsters being shown in a different light.

Hopefully the combat is a step up from the Witcher games.

I'm never going to say no to more high quality RPGs. This looks promising, hopefully it can avoid the pitfalls that most other AAA western RPGs have lately fallen to.

Amazing cinematic which really sets the mood.
The gameplay snippet was sadly too short to say anything but this oozes "What if Geralt was a Vampire"- flair.

Ah, here's the real Witcher 4.

Atmosphere, a grounded hero, characters, it's all calibrated for me.

Those who think it's generic have been too long indoctrinated by the modern audience. It's perfect.
I didn't know what to do when there wasn't a sassy girlboss backflipping onto the scene in slow motion while narrating "Yep, that's me. You're probably wondering how I got into this mess. First of all, UGH men."

From reeee (and i really fucking hate this)

The main quest is about rescuing your family that has been kidnapped by the big bad vampire lord. You have 30 in-game days to rescue them before they get executed. Also time moves forward every time you do something important.

A time limit in an open world? Big nono.

Welp. Hope that's untrue. I don't like time limits since Majora's Mask, and that one wasn't even truly a time limit.

The game apparently aims to be as long as Blood and Wine so it's more like a one open region, I presume, the valley he was overlooking from the hill.

I bet 30 days and 30 nights will suffice.

LOOOOOOL
Fuck man, that's so on point that it's not even funny in the end, i felt like watching the typical/banal/cliche'/tired intro to some 'Murrican series/film/vidjya.

...and it's got nothing to do "woke"shit either, it's just that it's sooooooooo played out that it becomes the "I understood that reference.gif" IRL 😁

It's true. I watched the stream, this is the devs own words basically.

But they also said that you can ignore main quest and explore and shape your own story.

So the time limit may only apply while doing the main quest.

That wasn't really clarified.

I took it as time limit only while doing main quest.

But maybe this will be clarified during summer gameplay show.

I used to be very sceptical of games looking this good. But Black Myth and Crimson Desert make me pretty confident in that this will be a game I'll get on day 1 (which is rare these days).

Ah, so like doing a main story quest is like a "chapter" that advances the overall story, but you're free to fuck around outside of them? Not so bad then. Shame that day/night cycle will probably be tied to it though, since the "official" time limit is 30 days.

You can save your family and kill all the bad guys ASAP and then have all the time in the world for the side quests.

Like bringing lost lambs back to the sheep farmer, catching butterflies in the forest for old grandpa's collection and finding a jar of glue for Jimmy so he can fix his broken chair after eating too much sweet bread.

He's fighting humans, monsters and probably some vampires too. He fights with sword, he turns into a vampire in super-saiyan mode

Awesome of true. Hurry up and git gud.
You must have done some serious mental gymnastic to come up with the conclusion that my problem with a time limit is the challenge\difficulty of the game uh??! :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I just fucking hate time limits in a genre that scream for exploration and losing yourself in a fantastic world.

I hope that an ingame day is gonna be like 5 hours, because if they are 30 real hours, then they basically tell you to rush the fuck up.

I don't like to rush the main story and save sidequest for later, i never do that in any open world and i'm certaintly not gonna start with this game.
People usually do sidequest to flash out the world and getting stronger in preparation for the final mission, not the opposite.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Dark-fantasy with vampires and shit sounds cool.

Don't mind the time-limit too much. Maybe it's like in Fallout and there are ways to extend it.

They said there'll be a gameplay trailer in the summer. This is quite far along for sure

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.
This and Exodus are the most hyped games for me.

Set White Male protagonist though...do mine eyes deceive me? In 2025?????

Based Polish developers coming to the rescue.

What struck me was that the devs featured in the introduction video were all Polish. I think Project Red has many more foreign devs working for them.

I feel they should have waited until they had actual gameplay to show. Cool setting but can't say more without gameplay. I think the marketing push is a bit premature. This goes for other studios as well (exodus). Stop doing that. Wait until you have at least a 10 minute gameplay video or something.

I was watching the dev diary and i would have loved if the vampires were actually the good guys or at least good enough to create a conflict where you can understand their reasoning for doing what they do but it seems like they are just big baddies that protect the people to use them as cattle, so save them to kill them later for food, no real good intentions whatsoever, i was hoping for something more complex than this, like the 4 of them being gruesome but ultimately good overlords, but not all the people being ok with them because they go too far to maintain the order or some shit.

Hopefully they are more than just hungry vampires saving humans for dinner.

Gimme Legacy of Kain-like lore and this game might just be the GOAT.

The gaming landscape is in dire need of a LOK spiritual successor. If anyone can pull it off, it's the ex CD Project RED guys.

Huh, this explains these similarities with The Witcher. So maybe...a "The Witcher" game focused on the vampire part? It can be interesting.

About the time limit, I played games like Fallout 1, Dead Rising and Pathologic and I doubt it will be more strict than any of these so I don't mind. In fact I like this, it can give a feeling of urgence absent in a lot of rpgs and open world games.

Did you watch the vid till the end?

More gameplay to come probably around June.

This is looking a lot fancier (in terms of production value) than I was expecting from the people involved, I must admit.
I was under the impression that despise the bragging rights about being "ex Witcher developers" they'd work on a far tighter budget.
