The Football Season 24/25: 115 Reasons For Man City Not To Win Anything

Nexon Icons Match! Full of legends!

Attackers vs Defenders.

Del Piero, Figo, Kaka, Rivaldo, Tevez, Drogba, Henry, Berbatov, E. Hazard.

Vs

Cannavaro, Ferdinand, Vidic, Puyol, Pirlo, Mascherano, Yaya Toure, Seedorf, Riise, Van Der Sar & Bonucci.

With the likes of Shevchenko on the bench too.

NB - Someone call Fellaini's parents, as he's clearly lost and ended up here.

I'd heard about this and was curious to give it a watch. I figure the defenders will do better, particularly since Seedorf, Yaya Toure and Pirlo are more well-rounded. I'll check it out later.

I saw this from it earlier

Ian Holloway is back in management at Swindon Town.

For the international community who might not know him, here are some of his less barmy quotes.

“I’ve had such bad luck at the moment that if I fell in a barrel of boobs I’d come out sucking my thumb.”
-Holloway, on an especially poor run at Queens Park Rangers.
“I watched Arsenal in the Champions League the other week playing some of the best football I’ve ever seen, and yet they couldn’t have scored in a brothel with two grand in their pockets!”
-Holloway, then manager of Plymouth Argyle, after watching Arsenal in the Champions League.
“I couldn’t be more chuffed if I were a badger at the start of the mating season!”
-Holloway, after his Queens Park Rangers side beat Cardiff in 2004.

It's 2024, he'll probably get cancelled before he's sacked. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

In other news, Germany women are smashing England women so far.

Edit - From 3-0 in the first half to 3-2 before HT... Should've been 3-3 if Toone could hit the target. I was gonna watch the Forest game but this is actually entertaining.

Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager.

Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.
Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.

Yes the results weren't great lately but this is another 2-3 years down the line, players not playing to their potential and the manager getting sacked. Jose, Ole, ETH ... Rinse and repeat.

Rumour has it that Xavi is being lined up. No doubt it'll be "Man Utd is back" like it was when ETH arrived and then the same "fans" will bexome poisonous towards him when things turn sour, which for the past 10 years, they've done almost to a schedule.

Huh, that'd be interesting if they got Amorim. Coming from Ornstein too, so there must be something to it.

Looks good on paper but so did ETH. Netherlands league & Portuguese league successes don't necessarily transfer to the EPL.

We'll just have to see how it plays out I guess. I saw another report saying they're talking to Nagelsmann, who could also be a great call. At this point I figure he would want to take Germany through the World Cup but maybe he could be tempted. Who do you want them to go for?

I'm not sure. But throwing Amorim into the hardest job in football when he's not managed a big club which has players with big egos... I fear we may be in the same situation in 2 years.

Perhaps Zidane, he's respected as a world great footballer and has managed egos at Real Madrid, a club as big as Man Utd. Plus, he has a winners attitude.

Can't figure out why they chose Tamworth v Huddersfield for the televised first round game to kick off this years FA cup. Some of the other ties feature clubs from lower divisions against local rivals or each other.

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.

Tamworth beating Huddersfield is classed as a ‘giant killing’ whereas Bristol being close to Weston makes fuck all point other than they are close to each other.

Today is Sutton v Birmingham City. If Sutton beat them, it’ll be Suttons FA Cup Final.

Just wait till third round early January when they’ll pick both Manchester clubs, Liverpool and Arsenal regardless who they play.

Looking it up, Bristol Rovers and Huddersfield are in the same division but Weston are lower than Tamworth so it would have been better to show that surely then? even had the relevance of a local derby like the Northampton Kettering game that was televised. An all non league clash went to pens after finishing 4-4 with one of them being 3-0 down, that could have got screen time. Instead it just seemed to me that it was a pointless game to show. Birmingham is large city like Bristol and a somewhat successful team but Huddersfield is neither so I stand by my post that it was a strange choice.

EDIT - Just realised that the BBC had to include a northern team, there’s no way they could have televised just southern and midlands teams without upsetting people, that’ll explain it.

Was a bit shit wasn’t it.

Same old. Can't really expect Ruud to work miracles in two games though and the fans (and Gary fucking Neville) need to allow Amorim time too. He didn't have Sporting playing, as they currently do, straight away. Time and patience is required and some effort from our players.

Not even Chelsea's best squad.

Also time for another BBC FA Cup moan.... they've chosen to televise Kettering again. Twice in two rounds out of all the clubs taking part.

Some wobbliness when leicester started to press.

Not been able to see the game, I'll watch the highlights later.

We're moving into yet another international break though! No wonder teams are struggling for consistency, there's been too many breaks this season!

The international break is good timing for Amorim’s start. Gives him some time to get settled in before managing his first game. I’m cautiously optimistic about what’s to come.

Perhaps, but most of the players will be away so he won't get to work with them.
There's also the chance it'll give Man City the reset they need and they'll return to their usual results.

Olympique Lyonnais are going to be relegated (currently 5th) if they don't sort their debt out. Reading that article the owner is going to flog players from a Brazilian club and sell his stake in Crystal Palace to fund it. I personally don't think people should be able to own multiple clubs, especially when 1 can screw over others like this.
