Part 2
$60, June 2020 - TLOU2 PS4 - 1080p @ 30 FPS
FREE, May 2021 - TLOU2 on PS5 - 1440p @ 60 FPS
Not too shabby in comparison to how it went last time.
It's funny that you say frame rate is the only enhancement that PS5 can have on PS4 backwards compatible games, because Days Gone has enhanced draw distance and object geometry detail goes further into the distance. That's really the only enhancent PS4 games can get on PS5: if the framerate is unlocked, the PS5 can hit the 60fps target.
Similarly, PS4 games that use DRS stay at the highest resolution of the set range.
That's all.
does it?It's funny that you say frame rate is the only enhancement that PS5 can have on PS4 backwards compatible games, because Days Gone has enhanced draw distance and object geometry detail goes further into the distance.
Again, read what I am writing or dont bother replying. Uncharted 4 and BB are literally running at 60 fps right now on PS4 Pro consoles. A bunch of fucking hackers did this by just reducing the resolution enough to get a stable 60 fps. And guess what it did not break. Both games run just fine. You're actually an idiot right? I mean you should know that there are optimizations to software whether or not the hardware is PC-based right? Otherwise, Bloodborne wouldn't be the way it is and Horizon Zero Dawn also wouldn't have certain things tied to the frame rate.
Like I said, you have no idea what types of tricks, hacks and optimizations they've done to make the game look as good as it does. It's not always as simple as changing FPS=30 to FPS=60.
Unless you worked on TLOU2, don't tell me how easy or fast it is to unlock the frame rate.

GOW and The last Guardian unpatched run at 60 fps on PS5. How? No PS5 Patch was required. No software optimization, tips or hacks were required. Animation engine did not need updating. The base disc versions literally ran at 60 fps because those disc versions had unlocked framerates and the PS5 GPU is so powerful it easily ran them at 60 fps. And yet it took them months to get a patch out for the digital version. All they had to do was add a toggle. Thats it. And The Last Guardian still hasnt been patched.
This is embarrassing. You are a 100% wrong about this and instead of reading posts you are melting down. Username fits.
Uncharted 4's multiplayer runs at 60fps, I know that, but guess what, Uncharted 4 is not TLOU2. Also, Bloodborne needed a lot more work than just lowering the resolution.
News flash, GOW and The Last Guardian are also not TLOU2. Not every game is created equal.
Like I said, you have no idea if it was a simple change or if it took a little bit more work to unlock the frame rate.
Maybe it was really easy, but once again, until an actual Naughty Dog developer details what the process was like to unlock the frame rate, we just won't know.
So unless you've worked on the game, shut your mouth about the difficulty of the process.
Now we just need a death stranding patch / remaster.I still think a full PS5 remaster is coming and this patch is just to hold us over until then. Plus, not everyone will want to pay for a full remaster just to get 60fps, so this is a nice gesture of them to give people a free little upgrade if they bought the PS4 version.
Love how everyone is suddenly a developer now. Hahaha
Because it's not actually 60fps, it just tricks your eyes into thinking you're seeing 60fps, but it's actually 30fps in disguise.Captured footage using the PS5's recorder still captures at 30fps despite the game running at 60fps. This isn't the case with other patched PS4 games; I wonder why this is.

Console games are not PC games where you just change a setting and you're good to go. Maybe there are a lot of games where it really is that easy, but Naughty Dog is known for using a lot of their optimization "tricks" to make their games look better than everyone else's. Otherwise, why wouldn't they have this patch ready on day one if it only took 1 line of code?t.MaxFPS=3060

At least Bloodborne did require additional patching, it went beyond a mere settings file tweak.Again, read what I am writing or dont bother replying. There's no enhancement except for the frame rate. The PS5 is basically running the PS4 Pro version in back-compat.It's funny that you say frame rate is the only enhancement that PS5 can have on PS4 backwards compatible games, because Days Gone has enhanced draw distance and object geometry detail goes further into the distance.
Abby?I hate the story but the gameplay is top notch. I'll play it again and just close my eyes when that fat pig appears in cutscenes.
Actually, not it isn't. I played the PS4 Pro version and I compared them side by side and the PS5 version did indeed have better draw distances and object detail into the distance. The PS4 Pro game (same patch) has really low poly models even close up, whereas the PS5 version does not. Do you need a screenshot or something? There's no enhancement except for the frame rate. The foliage draw distance and object geometry detail is enhanced on PS4 Pro over base PS4, so it gets carried over to PS5.
Yes, do provide a screenshot of this scene from PS5:Actually, not it isn't. Look at the post above for proof.Yes, do provide a screenshot of this scene from PS5:

You can DM me.
Look at the mag wheel directly under the bench on PS4 and PS4 Pro. Look at how low-poly it is, whereas the PS5 version is high quality.

So you're saying the image is fake? I played the game on PS4 Pro and I know how low quality the models were and the PS5 version pretty much solved this problem. Edit: Also, the 1st 2 pictures were taken by me on my PS5 and PS4 Pro from the same save file. That image is from a banned source BTW.
Ok, I see it now. There's a clear difference of LOD in the first two pics. Is that from your Pro and PS5?Look at the post above for proof.
This thread is to talk about the 60 FPS patch instead it has become a spoiler mine... Thanks to all...
Yes the top 2 images are directly from a my PS4 Pro and PS5 running on the same patch and the same game save. Subtle differences in lighting was just the dynamic cloud coverage. Also, it doesn’t matter how long you sit there and wait, stuff in the distance doesn’t pop in until you get close enough to it so it’s not an I/O issue either.Ok, I see it now. Weird, Richard from DF didn't make mention of this.
I think they were too fixated on resolution and frame rate that they may have overlooked it. I messaged DF on Twitter showing them my findings and they never responded.Ok, I see it now. There's a clear difference of LOD in the first two pics. Is that from your Pro and PS5?

It's late for sure, but I think just 60fps is fine. The game looks great and runs at a pretty high resolution to begin with. I don't think any extra work on the visuals would make a huge difference sort of remaking it.Only BC 60 fps patch 7 months later for a premium first party studio is pretty embarassing tbh.

I'm not making false claims. Here are some screenshots directly from their videoGood on them
