Did he clearly make his case in specifics or spoke in very generalized language? I’d read it myself but am trying to avoid to not spoil myself on mechanics. I think it best to bear in mind that some are inevitably going to be biased unfairly against the game due to ideology. Not saying that’s what’s driving his feelings, but could be.

He spoke generally. He's never big on openly spoiling stuff without any warning, but in this case he couldn't anyway because apparently Sony have given clear instructions that reviewers are not allowed to talk about the story outside of the first few hours.

As far as I'm aware, Skill Up is not pushing any ideology with his reviews & never has. It's one of the reasons that I like him as a reviewer.

And what about all the very, very VERY positive ones? They just don't count right?

Calm down sweetheart. I never said that & I will be looking at other reviews, as I always do.

Go pick your fight with someone else.

The Skill Up reviewer that doesn't like the game is on Twitter practically begging for forgiveness for the negative review. He is in fear for being honest. This is how bad it's gotten. I will not back down until things change. I will turn this shit inside out.

You'll do nothing.

lmao potentially best game ever here, it's a blessing we have a studio like ND delivering this type of output. Long may they reign.

PS4 vs PS4 Pro.
The difference is quite noticeable if you ask me.
So much so Im considering buying a PS4 Pro for literally ONE game at the end of the gen.. I can always sell it asap

It is a good thing having the pro version looking noticeably better this time.

Most lauded studio in the industry over this past decade - hit after hit. The problem is, they're exclusive to one single player in the market. That means everyone else that's left out can barely tolerate the idea of another decade of the same.

Long Live the King.

Not everything likes everything and that's fine

TLOU Part II looks like it's objectively an amazing game

This is going to be like The Last Jedi; Critics are going love it, but the fans are going to absolutely cry and give it a bad score no matter what.

I enjoyed the first game, but I never considered it a masterpiece. I may get this game later down the line when it's on sale. I guess I've really been hyped for this game, even before those spoilers came out.

HELL YES. Going on media blackout 'till Friday, HYPE THROUGH THE ROOF

Maybe not the most popular opinion around here, but people who are going up in arms about the WOKE AGENDA every time they see a female/gay/black etc
character in a videogame are just as fukcking skewed and hilariously paranoid as hardocre feminists or SJWs nutcases they're after.

LMFAO at journos complaining the game is too violent :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Also, Layman Gaming is my favorite youtube channel, Skillup is awesome and IT'S OK TO HAVE A DIFFERENT OPINION.

Next week I'm gonna make my own.
GOOD TIMES

Wow. Game of the gen.

I wasn’t really on board - felt like I had enough in TLOU which I loved.

But... well that many 100s!

So based off the few reviews I've looked at so far, it seems like the entire theme of the game really is just as bland & uninteresting as "Killing people is bad you guys. Revenge doesn't really solve anything"

Ok. That's deep man. That's a message that needs about 25-30 hours of repetition to fully sink in.

& sadly it seems like they really have retconned the grey area of the first game's ending & Joel's actions. Remember all those debates about whether he was right or wrong? Remember the information we had, that the "cure" was really no more than a desperate dream? Well apparently Naughty Dog doesn't.

Game's a stone cold stunner to look at though. So there's that at least.

How do you know about this when you never played the game?

Is anyone actually surprised by these scores?

I mean there are so many reasons why even if a reviewer wanted to give it a lower score they still wouldn't ( fear being one, and if you lot think that it's beneath Sony to pay for reviews or threaten with lost support you don't know a lot about Sony. They're a scumfuck company. Or people simply don't want to cause a fuzz with their friends in the industry. ).
And these games are like the equivelant of Oscar bait in the game industry.

If you like these games then more power to you, but they do pander pretty hard to mainstream audiences where there's a lot of overlap between movies and very casually playing video games.
I am not saying that it makes the games bad, what I am saying is simply that there's a lot of unfair bias in favor of them.
Games with way better gameplay and more original ideas and writing don't get as much attention and love because they don't have the kinds of money Naughty Dog have to throw around wildly. Your game looking impressive in terms of graphical fidelity and not being broken is basically a guaranteed 10/10.

I sorta look at these games as the MCU or Oscar bait of the movie industry.
Pretty shallow and surface level but very high production value and caters hard to the average joe.
You're free to enjoy it, I enjoy a lot of dumb shit myself.
But considering how much praise these games and the MCU gets and how they take over all of the splotlight I feel like one is more justified to be more critical towards them.

Yet, you say all of this without even playing the game.

If you're going to be critical of how people SHOULD view the game, then at least PLAY It first.

What a hill to die on. How noble. Enjoy your mission, soldier.
I'm not going there because of spoilers but if so that really sucks... I think his reviews are some of the best in the business and I'm definitely checking it out after I beat the game

We've come full circle

Pre-review

- Without playing the game: "This game will suck and have awful reviews
- Making excuses early: "If it doesn't have awful reviews it's because reviewers were paid"

Post-review

- With an overwhelming majority of amazing reviews: "All positive reviews are from paid shills"
- Grabs the one not so stellar review: "See, I told you the game sucks"

People are sad.
