The Switch 2's gimmick is mouse controls.

It is an option. I'm ok with all the options. I just want the option of an analog trigger so I can buy some racing games on the thing.

the Switch 1 does support analog triggers on a system level. Developers simply need to support them and third party manufacturers can add them to their controllers.

I'm pretty sure that Fast RMX on Switch supports analog triggers for example. but I haven't tried it myself... I do have an 8bitdo SF30 Pro, I should check if it's actually supported on that 🤔

Yeah I know its "supported" but it seems weird. And not a lot of games support it. I just want FZero GX,. They literally can't make that release without Gamecube like triggers.

I mean, they can, just adjusted in some ways.
also the GameCube adapters are still a thing, and I think some Switch games only support analog triggers through GameCube controllers.

Copying someone's good idea, but doing so incredibly poorly. It's the Nintendo way.

I bet in 3 years they sue lenovo for making a removable hand controller that has a mouse 'mode'.

Interesting, but I wonder what they will make me do in a game that I am not really sure I want to do. Drag and Drop for Mario Super Mushrooms

I'm guessing this will be used by the operating system, possible the first few first party games released, and then quickly forgotten about
I don't see any reason it would be used for the OS judging from the Switch OS. What would be the need?

Mouse control not exactly a gimmick either so a lot more potential for it being used long term especially in pc ports.

Super Mario Maker 3 with mouse support is worth it alone.

We already know Call of Duty is on it so there is also that.

All the ARPG isometric games that play better with a mouse will benefit from this as well.

Also Mario + rabbis and other tactics and RTS games.

Metroid Prime 4 with thumb stick movement + mouse aiming. I'm down for it!

Figuring out where to find the flat surface on my couch is another matter though. :(. Maybe I'll get one of those keyboard/mouse rest board for the couch thing.

So, to do this I have to be playing at a desk or table? Couch gaming and mouse controls have always been, and always will be, shit.

I guess Nintendo always need some form of gimmick.

Darn thats awesome. Haven't looked properly into the Legion Go.

Doesn't look all that comfy but will make for a cool portable setup. Might get the second one when it releases.
I'm personally saving up for a Legion Go 2 with a Z2 Extreme, which looks awesome tbh.

Sounds decent for tabletop here. I have a really hard time seeing how this would work well when playing on the couch though.

Hoping for the best. Potentially it sounds perfect for stuff like Metroid Prime 4 and Splatoon.
It's a nice idea to have tbh.

Nintendo will probably leverage it in specific odd ways that turn out to be fun tho.

Wonder if Lenovo will try something against Nintendo...
If the Switch 2 comes in at $450, then it will enter direct comparisons with the Legion Go S with Steam OS, which is $500, has a great UI, strong Steam Library, and supposedly is as powerful as an Ally X.

I meant, regarding the mouse implementation. Doubt Nintendo copied it but well, patents are usually broad.

Does that make PC mouse a "GIMMICK" as well? :messenger_dizzy:
It was actually seen as a gimmick by some groups of people when it first hit the market. These groups still exist, but have shrunk in size significantly. The "Keyboard & Command line Purists". They overlap a lot with Emacs and Vim users.

The long standing 2015 mouse wheel patent. Now I think they'll just make it touch sensitive.

In fact, this video is fucking insane looking back at it, Sakurai wanted mouse scroll wheel since Super smash bros melee on gamecube.

Seems like now he'll have his wish.

I'm more excited to get games ala Kid Icarus uprising which was with stylus on 3DS. I hope we see more of that. On-rail shooters with mouse, yes.

Star Fox... omg.

It's kind of the opposite. Nintendo is copycatting Lenovo here.

This is gonna show my age..

I mean...

The "copy" factor in the balance between Lenovo making joycons vs Nintendo making their joycons having a mouse mode is heavily titled towards a joycon ripoff here. But ok. Lenovo's solution is at the bottom of the "joycon". More like holding a dildo.

Some seem concerned about how uncomfortable mouse mode will be, but for my usage it will be good enough. For example on train trips or when I want to design some clothes in Animal Crossing. So I don't see myself using that mode more than a few hours at a time at most, but it's nice to have the option. And there'll most likely be third-party shells to make it more comfortable for those who need it.

Pick the right joycon now and try

Imagine a longer, wider, higher one now for this one and a more solid wide base (with that mouse glide we see in trailer) compared to having it hold on the joycon rails.

Most comfortable mouse ever? No. I would not work on that. Good enough for mario maker, mario paint, Star Fox, shooters? Yea I think so.

Hell, maybe switch will simply accept a bluetooth mouse for those who want more comfort. What's holding them from doing that? Games that support mouse feature should absolutely be compatible with any bluetooth mouse.

It'll definitely have touch/stylus support on games that enable it!

There's no way it's not a touch screen.

I mean a proper stylus, with pressure, tilt, rotation, and palm rejection, not a 'dumb' stylus (where the tip rips within weeks).
