VGA World Premiere Details Coming Tomorrow

Nirolak said:
Okay, so when they first announced this we found out who seven of the publishers were going to be and that they were going to have at least 11 games at the show. Currently, if we include Dead Space 2 due to Keighley's rather obvious hint, we have 10 games and only Warner is missing. Warner also accidentally sent out their 2010 schedule, so it seems we know what they're making as well.

So unless they have more than 11 games for the show, it seems this might be the final list:

2K:
1.) Spec Ops

Activision:
2.) Black Lotus

Disney Interactive Studios:
3.) Tron

Electronic Arts:
4.) Dead Space 2
5.) Medal of Honor

LucasArts Entertainment:
6.) New Star Wars Game

Microsoft Game Studios:
7.) Halo Reach
8.) Crackdown 2

THQ:
9.) UFC Undisputed 2010

Ubisoft:
10.) Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

Warner Bros. Interactive:
11.) F.E.A.R. 3 or LotR RPG 360/PS3

Also updated the OP.
I hope FEAR 3 and Dead Space 2 do get announced. Thanks.

Geoff Keighley and MajorNelson have stated that he'll be on the MajorNelson podcast sometime today to talk about the VGAs. I'm guessing we'll get some teases about Crackdown 2 and Reach.

Pretty lackluster list so far. I hope that if there are some surprises left to the show, that they are for awesome big budget and well anticipated titles.

I actually think it's quite a good list, far better than I expected. The only problem is that I don't really give a shit for anything there so far :lol

Hopefully Sony will reveal the release dates for Heavy Rain and Gran Turismo 5.

HR has been intended to be a worldwide release. So it should be the same date as the Japanese version or at least close to it.

Apparently the Halo Reach trailer is all ingame.

Keighley said:
At the VGAs, we actually go down on to the Planet Reach and see this game for the first time. It’s all going to be in-game stuff. This is not CG. This is not live-action like all the kids on twitter are speculating. You will get a first glimpse at the world of Reach, which is phenomenal. I think it’s going to be the biggest game of next year by far. Folks love ODST and though it was great but when people see the huge leap forward Bungie is taking with Reach, I don’t know if you seen it yet, but everyone that I talked to that’s been on the team and seen it is incredibly excited about that time.

Slightly off-topic, but i'm wondering what Evolution Studios is up to now. I loved Motorstorm 2 (never played the original) but i wouldn't mind something different from them. Whatever they are working on, it's something to look forward to.
As I remember they merged with Sony Liverpool. So let's hope they're working in a Wipeout PS3 retail game.

Totobeni said:
wut ? Nope they did not.

Obviously, they've now moved that original concept on with MotorStorm: Pacific Rift and they'll be looking at future iterations of MotorStorm. But, you may be aware that Evolution and our Liverpool Studio have now merged in terms of management structure and using combined resources. Liverpool had great success this year with Wipeout HD and they also helped on MotorStorm as well. Each studio has its own internal concepting group which will always be looking at new opportunities and new IPs, and we'll continue to extend and innovate within our existing franchises as well.

Almost all of the trailers at the last VGA weren't CG either, but a lot of them were more like teaser trailers where you don't see much anyway. I hope they're a bit more substantial this year.

Awesome.

Also cool if the LotR RPG is anything like The Third Age. That was a nice FFX ripoff out of nowhere.

Pretty lackluster lineup thus far, but there's still hope.

Give me Battlefront 3 or give me death.
Man, that license is cursed. Do you want to bring down a third developer?

Hum, saw this around on the internets:

On the latest Major Nelson podcast, Geoff Keighley hypes up the unannounced showings for the upcoming Video Game Awards:

We’ve announced a lot of them and I know people online are speculating about which games are coming from which publishers. We also have some monumental surprises inside of the show of things folks are not just going to be expecting. And we are going to blow people away at the show with surprises we haven’t announced. It’s going to be a good year for games next year.

Hum, a lot of stuff still to be revealed or is Geoff talking out of his ass?

A bit of both probably.

I'm sure they haven't announced everything yet, and actually seeing the trailers will still be cool.

Even a couple of good trailers will make it worth it for me anyway, and the rest of the show should provide the lulz/gifs.

Technically they haven't even announced a Dead Space trailer yet, but yea I still expect some surprises although I think many here will have called those as well.

Well scratch the aforementioned I'm sure it's coming soon;

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Visceral Games, an Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) studio announced today that the award-winning Dead Space™ franchise will continue to frighten gamers with its stunning sequel, Dead Space 2. Hero Isaac Clarke returns for another heart-pounding adventure, taking the fight to the Necromorphs in this thrilling action-horror experience. New tools to gruesomely slice and dismember the Necromorphs complement Isaac's signature Plasma Cutter, empowering him as he meets new characters, explores epic Zero-G environments, and fights against a relentless necromorph onslaught. Survival isn't the only thing on Isaac's mind in Dead Space 2 – this time, he calls the shots.

“Like so many gamers worldwide, we love the Dead Space franchise and are very excited to announce a new game in the series,” said Nick Earl, Senior VP and Group General Manager at EA. “Visceral Games is quickly becoming known for delivering high-quality, action-packed games. Dead Space 2 is on target to deliver a jaw-dropping experience gamers won’t soon forget.”

“We’re thrilled to jump back into the series, making the next chapter in Isaac’s journey. The infection continues to spread throughout space and our hero Isaac Clarke is the only person able to contain it. There are still loads of necromorphs that need killing!” said Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer of Dead Space 2. “In Dead Space 2, not everything is exactly as it seems. Expect plot twists that will surprise you and a huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters that are sure to scare the daylights out of you.”

Originally launched in 2008, Dead Space quickly became one of EA’s top rated wholly-owned intellectual properties. With close to 100 industry awards and an average critic score of 89*, Dead Space became a hit with horror and videogame fans worldwide. In 2009, EA launched Dead Space Extraction, a prequel to the original Dead Space that expanded the fiction and brought the franchise to a new audience base.

Dead Space 2 is being developed for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system and on PC. This product has not yet been rated by ESRB or PEGI. Anyhow, hype +1 on Geoff's Reach comments.

Hum, I'm more interested in The Ripper than in Dead Space 2, although from what I read I feel I'll be disappointed. But man, I hunger for a good mystery/horror game set in foggy Victorian London. I just hope they capture the feel well and don't ruin the game to much and mayyyyybe I'll dip. Whish it would be revelead at VGA instead of DS2, but that's just me.

Hype hype hype, but I'm not sure if I like the idea of Isaac actually going after the Necromorphs. It's a badass idea, sure, but I feel like it takes away from the survival aspect of the first game. I think it'd be much cooler if the Necromorphs came after him instead (somehow). Nonetheless, can't fucking wait. Dead Space is definitely one of my favorite games of the generation.

Out of his ass.

The last time he talked like that was on Major's podcast on December 2008 when he was hyping up a "monumental surprise announcement" at the VGA 2008 show.

That monumental announcement? First Gears 2 DLC map pack.

Why do you guys always fall for this? Expect DLC, CG and 30 second teasers as their monumental announcements. After that, expect a lot of embarrassing situations with different models, rappers, mountain dew, movie and tv stars and all other people who are not related to gaming whatsoever to be there. This show is just really embarrassing for all gamers. UGH!

:lol Jeez if that was monumental, then I'm actually worried about this Reach trailer.

GAF - Always the hardest crowd to please :D You guys will dig Reach, especially since nobody knows anything about the game or the characters.

As I've said before I don't expect you to love every premiere we do. We're making this show for 180 countries around the world, not just for GAF.

That said, I'll be eager to hear your feedback on the show and the new, more game and world-premiere centric format this year.

Battlefront 3 or bust...Well maybe if the Dead Space 2 stuff is more than a minute teaser that can suffice.

Hype it through the roof!

Geoff, be real, no hype, will there ACTUALLY be something that will blow us away or not?

That list is pretty average so far. I don't care about 95% of that list, so using those standards. Answer plz kthx.

Well, it's the Spike VGAs. If you don't like titles targeted at the stereotypical 18-25 male Western gamer, you're probably not going to find much you like.

I'm thinking EA is going to show Bad Company 2 as well. Earlier this year they said we would see more Single Player by the end of the year. Well, it's December... and still nothing.

Doesn't look like it :( I think even Rare would have dropped a hint or something by now.

We'll have to keep waiting.

Doubt it. I'd imagine whatever Rare have to announce will require more Natal details and at least a demonstration. VGA isn't the place for such a thing.

That Star Wars game better be Battlefront 3 or A TRUE 1:1 MotionPlus Lightsaber game

Also, for Geoff's monumental surprise, could it maybe be Nintendo related?

Also, WTF at that Dead Space 2 announcement PR. I thought
Issac was killed at the end of Dead Space by the necromorph Nicole on his ship
?
