I'm probably late but ffs, Geoff Keighley calling Reach game of the year for 2010 based on some footage he's seen? How biased is that? I didn't like Halo 3 and felt it was incredibly overrated (just my opinion, no one has to share it) and Reach might look amazing but that doesn't mean it's OK for a gaming journalist to hype a game at the expense of other 2010 games when he hasn't played any of them to finish.
He didn't say it would be the *best* game of 2010 (or goty), he said it would be the
biggest.
The trailer he saw is probably spectacularly done and is fortelling of not just how good the game experience will be, but
how well they will market it.
The push for it, and the anticipation for it will be tip top, just like the prior games.
What magnifies it even moreso this go-round is the fact that Reach is effectively going to be Halos 'Modern Warfare' in the sense that its a technical revamp.

If we are talking sales numbers, what about GT5? What about whatever huge Nintendo Wii game coming out next year? What about the possible next IW COD on multiplatforms (last one sold huge numbers)?
He's not talking about sales, and honestly, Wii-fit 2 or Wii-sports 2 will outsell everything..so what?
Totally different playerbases.
FFX13 (especially in sales)? I mentioned Gran Turismo 5, prologue sold nearly 4 million copies and has historically reached 10 million with each full release?
Who knows what FF13 and GT5 will sell? Between the PS3's userbase being much smaller than the PS2's and the average sales reception jrpgs have been getting this gen, it's no guarantee either one of these games will even be one of the biggest sellers in 2010, much less have 'historically (PS2) accurate' sales.
You're right, Prologue sold almost 4 mil since holiday 2007 at $40, which is great.
ODST just sold almost 4 mil in 2 and a half months at $60 a pop,
before Christmas.
Halo Reach will outsell anything geared toward the 'hardcore' playerbase in 2010.
If Halo was multiplaform, this conversation of "what about ___" wouldnt even exist at this point.

I'm glad you guys give Geoff such an easy pass, I am sure all the other AAA developers out there working hard on their next 2010 title feels good about that.
What you can be sure of, is that "any AAA developers out there working hard on their next 2010 titles" will, very respectfully, stay the fuck out of Halos Reach's way come 4th quarter next year.
