Forced myself out of Path of Exile 2. Game's too good, put 150+ hours in like 2 weeks and had to quit playing out of concern for my physical and mental health.

10/10 videogame. :goog_relieved:

I picked up the 30th anniversary collection in the Nintendo sale. I forgot what a masterpiece Third Strike is. The sprite work is incredible and peak Capcom. Easily one of the best 2D fighters ever made. Just a shame the d-pad on the Switch Lite is shite.

I don't normally jump into early-access titles, but I'm glad I bought this. Stardew Valley is one of my favourite games and this is pretty similar in a lot of ways. Need to spend more time with it to see if I think it's better than Stardew. I've played around six hours so far and in that time I've met everyone in town, bought myself a little kitchen for my home, participated in the spring festival, and opened the mines.

Still Wakes the Deep
I got this for Christmas. I haven't played for more than an hour, but I love the vibe, the overall aesthetic, and the setting.

Progressed quite far in The Last Faith. Definitely a legit Metroidvania. Feels like the closest thing to Castlevania since Castlevania was actually a thing. Great art direction inspired by Bloodborne and Blasphemous. Massive maze like levels with tough enemies and even tougher bosses. I dig the story too even if it riffs on Bloodborne a little too much. I´m surprised it´s so good. I mean, I´ve heard good things about the game, that´s why I bought it, but I didn´t expect it to be in the "great" range of quality. Only complaint is the technical issues. Those are very annoying. I hope a patch comes for Switch 2 when it gets released otherwise I might cop this for PC (unless the game runs like ass there too)

Whilst trawling through the January sale I picked up Train Sim World 5 on a whim. I’ve only been playing for a couple of hours (still in training), but I’m surprised by how much I’m enjoying it. I’m also surprised by how many buttons, switches and levers there are in the driver cab.

I'm at the second half and this game is getting tougher. Not a complaint but I find the challenge refreshing especially since grinding levels doesn't really help and you have to use actual strategies to beat enemies and bosses. The boss I'm on Lagrange Wind is a pain. The first phase is annoying but doable but when he goes into his second phase is when I have problems. His attacks increase in power and one shot my characters and they are all around level 40 to 42 with the best equipment. I'll be redoing the Growth Chart for each character since I heard investing into certain skills help make this boss more manageable

I'm around 38 hours and I'm loving the game. Really gives me the Old School PS1/PS2 JRPG feel that I really miss

The Switch Version runs good but it does have some load times when you transition to Battle. I've been playing the game in Portable Mode. Not sure how Docked Mode is

Ys X - Nordics (PC/Steam Deck)
I'm at the end game. Pretty much did all the side quests and all - Just need to grind a bit.
So far, very enjoyable game. New battle system is flashy and fast - not w/o its fault, but still it's quite enjoyable.
Story itself is interesting enough - but still Ys VIII - Lacrimosa of Dana is still their strongest one in terms of story, IMHO.
Ship part - is pretty decent, except in the beginning, the ship moves soooooo slow, so that was the hardest to bear - but other than that, naval battle part, fortress take-over part etc etc - good stuff. Even got that full Space Battle Ship Yamato type laser beam, which is pretty sick to wipe out a ton of ships in 1 shot! :)

Probably finish the game by the weekend - and looking forward to the ending.

After 30 long years and all the hype surrounding this series, for the first time I'm actually playing:

Found a Romhack with widescreen support, QOL improvements, map etc. Really digging the atmosphere and progression. I like rolling into a ball and dropping bombs to find secrets LOL!

Have fun! I used to be decent at the game many moons ago.

Please tell me there are no more mandatory wall jumps LOL! I can wall jump easily in Mario 64 and in Ninja Gaiden on NES but it's super annoying with Super Metroid. Thank Goodness I got the "boost jump" power-up.

And I beat that HUGE green alien boss Kraid which was cool!

Depends. You may never have to wall jump at all to get through. Have you met the little guys that try to show you how to do it? You're supposed to jump into the wall, then tap away and when Samus's sprite changes, that's when you hit jump.

Do you mean the Speed Booster? You can use that to avoid some wall jumps. The easiest way is to just bomb jump if you want. With a turbo controller you can probably use that to get all over the place. My ascii pad did it at the right rate (about 20 presses per second).

El Paso Elsewhere - Game is real fun to play.....however, Im on Chapter 20 and the repetitiveness so many complained about is really starting to hit me. Every damn level is basically the same.

Jusant - Finally picked this up during the Steam Sale. Its pretty unique. I like it. Only an hour in but feels like something Nintendo would have made. Ill play it through.

I haven't met those little guys yet but I'm following a guide where it shows you how to get secret power ups using wall jumps.

According to this tutorial video you have to wait a "split second" to press the jump button after you press "away" from the wall. Such a stupid and unintuitive mechanic to perform. I'm so conditioned by Mario 64 to press "away + jump" at the same time to perform a wall jump and trying to execute it on Super Metroid is annoying.

As long as your d-pad isn't oversensivite and hits up/down instead, then the timing becomes 2nd nature. Just gotta learn the delay. Nowadays I play a fan mod that has more forgiving controls and lets you perform stuff you can't in the original.

I think it is an overrated revision. Baffling how lacking it is when you have the amazing sprite backgrounds of Second Impact running in native widescreen. If you want to play Chun or Makoto or Remy you have no choice though.

Played a metric ton of MK11. Amazing that you can have film accurate Raiden and Shang Tsung squaring off alongside Robocop and The Terminator (and Rambo). The Krypt itself is practically a recreation of the movie sets. Talk about dreams of yesteryear.

  • Marvel's Rivals - Surprisingly, it is hogging most of my time. I expected it to be fun, but I haven't been into competitive multiplayer games since the original MW2 and MW3 back in the day. But it's very good and a lot of fun so far.
  • It Takes Two - I finally started It Takes Two with my wife (I've already played it before). This is her 1st game with me, so we're having fun.
  • Resident Evil 2 - I plan to start it soon because it'll be leaving PS+ next month.

What time is it?
Played a few hours of STALKER 2 today. If I'm honest, I'm just not feeling it and that has little to do with the jank. It just feels so uninspired.

I also gave up on Brothership. I'm firmly in the hate it camp for that game.

I'm either gong to continue playing Thousand Year Door or give Hitman Blood Money a replay.

Neighbours from Hell
I paused Ys X, I'm just not in the headspace for a JRPG right now. I went back and tries Star Wars Outlaws with the patches again. No go. It just fucking blows. It's just a boring ass game. Everything in it is tedious. From the quest logs to the map, to traversal. It's so fucking tedious and boring. I'm done with it for good. Deleted it off my PS5 and moved on. I will be playing Nine Sols next.

I started two games last night while I was a bit *cough cough*, um, hazy.

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition on PS5.

I chose a Crusader based on an easy build recommended by another user here. I'm not looking to see everything the game has to offer, or at least not as a solo player. And I have no one to play games with, so I won't have the chance to co-op. I am playing on the lowest difficulty and not at all trying to min/max anything. I just want to have fun and beat on things in a setting like this. I have the vicious little plant pet, so that's cool. I'd like a different pet but the options are limited and it's an old game, so oh well. I named my guy Crom. Crom the Crusader. I am off to the Old Ruins with Leah to find a key to the cathedral.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PS5.

Every time I start this game, I realize how good it is. However I never seem to be in the mood for it. This time is feeling much better. The voice acting is pretty damn good. Some of the QoL improvements in the PS5 version aren't working for me, like the closer camera and newer movement system. I wish the Photo Mode had filters instead of DIY effects sliders. I messed with the level parity but it didn't matter much when my lvl 1 Geralt tried to cut through some woods to get to a nearby road. Level 5 Wolves absolutely destroyed me and almost killed me. That wasn't very fun. My big issue is with the amount of stuff to do, even now. In the very first town is a quest board with like 6 quests. I have wanderlust and this is already killing me.

Indiana Jones - absolutely loving it. Been taking my time with it. I think I'll finally be moving on to a new area tomorrow. Games like this just aren't made very often.

Fantasian - one of the best JRPGs I've played in a good while. Battles, story, tactics, characters, dialogue, voice acting are all excellent. Possibly the most underrated game I've played in the genre in a decade. It fully cements the legacy of Sakaguchi. I was a bit in doubt how much he contributed in the producer role in later entries, but its clear he was instrumental at every level.

Suicide Squad - its not that bad. Got it for $5. Perfect game to turn my mind off and knock out a few missions. Feels like Crackdown. Some stuff is cool like Batman's entrance. Very much copying Guardians quips to the max, but a few are slightly funny.

Finished DA Veilguard. Put it on par with DA Inquisition just for that 3rd act.
Going to go through some shorter experiences. Alan Wake 2: Lake House dlc and Fear The Spotlight will end 2024 for me. Indy gets booted to 2025.

I finally got Kina and Cheryl after beating Lagrange Wind Boss. I respec Ez Growth Chart and used Infinity Loop whenever I could so that Ez could spam potions and ethers on characters low on HP/MP. Made the fight much more easier to deal with despite how hard hitting his attack got

And I finally unlocked Valrika Growth Chart by beating the Chaos Basilisk. That one was tough too but I figured out I had to put these accessories that nullified Curse, which thankfully I have three on. So I did, and even though the Chaos Basilisk was still hard I was still able to use healing items when the boss uses the World of Death move on me.

I got all my characters up to Levels 40 to 45. So far I'm loving how you have to think about how to use accessories and figure out the enemies/bosses patterns to beat those battles. It's really refreshing and I'm getting a really old school feel to it. I wish that the game had more QOL Features like Battle Speed and Save States but it's not a deal breaker for me

This game is looking more and more likely as the first game I beat in 2025. So far I'm having a blast with it

Bought Ghost Trick for the Switch. I remember playing it for the first time on the DS—14 years ago?! Fourteen. Years. My god. This game was criminally underrated back then. Let’s see how it holds up now.

Been playing a bit on the Switch while on holiday. Finished Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective the other day. I would probably rate it a 6.5-7/10. I'm a big fan of time travel/alterations as a mechanic and it's clear that this is a well made game but felt quite a bit too long for its own good. If it was a 6-8 hour game that would've been good but it's at least twice that length. I didn't expect it to essentially be a visual novel game and I just don't think those kind of games are for me despite some aspects in this that really speak to me.

Beat two of the hardest bosses in The Last Faith so far and acquired the best ability and then the game crashes and I lose all progress. I have to redo everything. Fuck unoptimized garbage like this. I fucking hate video games sometimes.

Think I'm nearing the end. Enjoyed this game, though the gameplay is a bit thin, which I don't necessarily mind. The setting and atmosphere are the real standouts.

I'm on the last day. This title has made me want to play other similar games. Normally shy away from point-and-click titles because I'm a bit rubbish at them - always miss obvious stuff.

Finally beat the bosses again. It's two bosses back to back. The first one is not that bad but the second one took me well over 25 tries to take down again. So annoying. But now I'm back on track again ready to finish this game.

Im far enough in rebirth to have turned it into a background game. I was never rushing, and I'm not going to start now. It's easy to settle back into, and the filler activities become a little more satisfying since I could play as little as an hour at a time.

It's still fucking awesome in it's new role. And that amazing hard mode is waiting at the end.

Just started Legend of Mana. It's... super boring, to be honest.

It's cute, it's pretty, the soundtrack is nice, combat is pretty good... but there's no story to speak of (you're creating a world using artifacts... because?), and the entire "events" system requires you to use a guide if you so much want to reach the ending. And speaking of guides, they all give you the exact same configuration of where to put each artifact (and where to actually start the game), without ever telling you why. A friend told me some events only appear depending on he elemental affinities of the regions surrounding the one where the event starts... and yet the game makes no mention of those affinities anywhere (guess there's the spirits appearing at the bottom of the map, alright) or how ANY OF THIS EVEN WORKS. Or how your stat growth depends on the weapon you are using when you level up. Or the entire pet system.

Worst Mana game by far, just for how confusing everything is.

Just finished the game. I enjoyed it immensely. Great characters who were well-written. Solid voice acting with some great northern accents. Music and sound design were top-notch. I enjoyed the story, although the ending was both a little bleak and sad. I found the difficulty, if you can call it that, really well-balanced; There were no puzzles or parts that were overly taxing. It gets a solid 9/10 from me. Gonna scour Steam for more games of this ilk. Definitely a genre of game that I want to explore further.

Suicide Squad on Series X.

Playing with the Offline mode patched in.

And it's ... kinda fun ?

Completely unforgivable that this is the canon sequel to the Arkham games, but for what it is, I'm having a fun time with the mindless blasting. Playing as Deadshot and his style is like playing Anthem with the jetpack.

The juvenile humor is hit or miss, but it felt nice killing essentially Ezra Miller's Flash.

Now that I got my full party together, I'm loving the interactions betweeen each of the party members. Especially love Cheryl's thirstyiness when it comes to Leo. All the characters are memorable and whenever I stop playing, I remember each party member

Right now when it comes to story, I'm at the Defending Vibra Story Quest. Right now I'm taking a break since this boss is extra annoying. It's called the Infernal Mechteria Blob. It hits my party with petrify and curse. I have use accessories to null them but I only have two accessories for petrify. Those help me out but it's another thing where he hits super hard. His damage he does to my party can range from around 2000 to 5000 HP Damage. Also those small mecha are annoying since they buff him with elemental resistances and not just one but multiple resistances. So it's rare that I get a hit in that's over 800.

I'm currently around level 44 to 45 with all of the characters and been using the Growth Chart alot. I'm around 45 Hours into the game

Diablo III is going swimmingly. I'm kinda addicted. Yes, yes, I'm Super Late to the Party, I know.

But I'm into Act 2 and my Crusader is just thrashing mobs and it's fun! I'm only lvl 22 or so. I can't choose between the Blessed Hammer with the lightning arcs, or the Blessed Shield like I'm some Holy Captain America.

I want to get the first Skill Rune for the Shield, called Staggering Shield. I hope that unlocks soon.

I'm not really following a build guide. I'm just going with it. I have a lot of gear with bonuses to Life so I rarely take more than a quarter bar of damage for very long. I'm also trying to add Wrath while reducing cost and also cooldowns. I'm focusing on the Lightning damage and abilities when I can. Thanks for reading!

Having recently brought a Wii for the first time I have been looking into titles on it from that era, recently brought Mario Strikers (2005) for it, I found it not to be an easy game as yet to master. I have my copy of Mario Kart Wii on its way....The Bourne Conspiracy on the PS3, never bothered with it at the time...on PC I'm checking out the adventure game "The Dig" as well as Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun... Will soon make my way back to the Series X as I feel outside of Forza Horizon 5 I should utilise my Xbox Gamepass subscription more!

Finished The Last Faith. Performance issues aside, this was a great Metroidvania/Souls-like. It has all the great hallmarks of the genre. Stellar art direction reminiscent of Bloodborne and Blasphemous (it's pretty much a mashup of those two games), cool bosses, enemies weapons and spells. Interesting story and lore (once again, heavily inspired by Bloodborne). Atmospheric music. Massive interconnected levels. Challenging gameplay. As mentioned earlier the performance issues are a big nuisance and makes the game look way less polished. It hinders the game from reaching it's full potential. It could've been a solid 9/10 but now I'd say it's a strong 7.

My two favorites from the winter sales and coincidentally released in 2024 are Kill Knight and Nine Sols.

Kill Knight makes a fantastic first impression with its phenomenal sound effects and tight twin-stick gameplay. Has some Doom Eternal like loops where certain actions earn you health, ammo, etc., but not as heavy handed. Not sure I'm sold on the level progression structure but excited to learn and play more.

Nine Sols is the one that stuck though with its Sekiro-like gameplay in 2d. Reminds me a bit of Shinobi on the 3DS, which I love. Pretty much enjoying everything about it from its parry-based gameplay, neat environment, interesting lore so far, ambient sound atmosphere, neat boss fights and a beautiful game. Bonus that it runs on mac.
