This is the way, tho. Only wackos at GAF buy 700€ consoles and 2.400€ cards. If you want to achieve mainstream appeal you have to work on a budget. And it’s fine. I have a Pro but I think a PS5 is perfectly fine for gaming.
2nm is currently so expensive that even Apple is hesitating. Neither Nvidia or AMD are even on 3nm. The options in 2028 will either be 3nm or 2nm. Just depends on what Sony is willing to pay for. But even 2nm is not all that much better over 3nm. Certainly not enough to put 5090 performance in a 230w budget.

I’m not expecting Titan class performance in my “whole system for just 500€”. But to use a node that is 4 years old I do expect. 2nm or better, Sony please.
“These components should be key in increasing the richness of game graphics as well as enabling more extensive use of ray tracing and path tracing.”
“But ML use in games shouldn’t and can’t be restricted to graphics libraries. We’re also working towards a democratization of machine learning something accessible that allows direct work in AI and ML by game developers both for graphics and for gameplay.”
