To be fair, that wasn’t the counter argument for many of us in that thread. It was primarily that consolidation isn’t good for the industry. Many of us had the same attitude when it was Sony buying Bungie.

You quoted me and referenced my ban. I got banned for "hot takes" like global warming is real, and "attacking everyone," something we all know you never do. I never said I'm better than everyone else, just that I usually get banned instead of keeping quiet. A lot of people kept their accounts during the worst of the Era takeover last time by just keeping quiet, but I personally didn't do that and I just can't. Eventually I'll get banned again, just my personality.

So many people were awfully smug during that entire acquisition of Activision trying to paint it as somehow being good for gaming. It made zero sense.

Sure if I knew it would have resulted in Forza and Halo being on PS5 i’d have agreed, but pretty sure that was not on anyone’s bingo card.

What has the acquisition actually resulted in? Layoffs, studio shut downs, and a complete implosion of the xbox brand.

I wont say it's bad but you could argue there was a better deal to be had if they had went with PS and then they still get their Xbox games and Sony games and third parties that are never coming. On top of that I don't care what MS says. I would be worried about losing my library if I was an Xbox player right now. They can make all the guarantees they want if it makes financial sense for them to abandon peoples libraries they will do it.

If the situation was reversed and this was happening to Sony I would be annoyed. I would also be switching ecosystems. I don't care about a month sub I'm more concerned with missing out on good games. I'd be on PC if I could stand it but I hate PC gaming.

One thing that comes to mind, during the FTC trials, a lot of publishers (EA, Ubisoft, etc) said they were in favor of the deal, because microsoft making games exclusive would mean they would have less competition to get ps players, EA's Andrew Wilson straight up said CoD going exclusive would benefit Battlefield.

If you've already purchased an Xbox console then that's a sunk cost and I don't see how Xbox games also being available on other platforms negatively affects you. Microsoft's change of strategy is expected to affect the viability of future Xbox hardware, but we don't yet have a clear idea of what Microsoft's plans are there.

The activision games, chiefly CoD, were going to be on other platforms anyway. Now they're on GP day 1 and will continue to come to the platforms they were before.
