influencers/youtubers participating in the royal rumble?

To be fair, that spear spot was pretty great.

I do wonder though, with guys like Logan Paul and Speed they seem to realise that they should be heels. I don't really follow those kinds of guys but for them to be that big surely they must have some people who genuinely like them?

I can buy that they are happy with the raw number of "impressions" Hulk got since that seems to be a big deal for all these companies now. Even though most of those impressions are basically laughing at him.

What I don't buy at all is that he was expecting to be booed. No way.

I'm sure maybe Trips and people there may have expected some boos, but you can't tell me that Hogan did. You could see the heartbreak on his face the second he got out there and how uncomfortable he was (GOOD). These old old timers, mostly Hogan and Flair never left their bubbles that their characters lived in and think that the dumb shit they do/did in the real world will effect their reactions in the wrestling one.

Decided to watch the women's Royal Rumble as I'm not familiar with the "new generation".
There are some good workers out there I didn't fast forward once! 😁

Same.

Nothing against Jey but I just don't see him as a Wrestlemania main eventer. Shoulda let Cena have his moment in the spotlight one last time.
I haven't seen him as a main event at Wrestlemania guy either. But two things on that. HHH is not Vince and I'm not surprised he will give a shot to guys who I doubt Vince ever would. Second, have you been to a live show the last 6 months to a year? Jey gets the entire stadium rocking when he comes out. Definitely earned himself a chance.

There is an element of “and then the bell rings” about Jey. But he is massively over. Maybe that’s mostly for an entrance or maybe there’s more to it but either way it’s something. So why not strike when the iron is hot and do something with it. It could do them some good to freshen up that main event scene so why not roll the dice on this and see where it goes.

I am very anti Jey, mainly because I believe that his being over is almost 100% the entrance and dancing. The dude is blown up by the time the bell rings and he is easily in the bottom 25% inside the ring. His promo skills are also (IMO) in the bottom half of the main roster. People do seem to be emotionally behind him...BUT does giving him the belt make him any more over? I don't believe the world title should be treated as a thanks for putting in the time kind of thing and I don't view him as a world title/can sell tickets kind of guy. I think he would have been a great MITB winner, do the entrance get people hyped and do the babyface thing of cashing in as a plan or cashing in on an evil heel that cheats to win (Not Gunther) and give him it at one of the B grade PPVs in a foreign country that goes nuts (Not fucking Saudi).

I fully expect it to be very hard to have him be a champ that holds it for long, he doesn't have the ability to sell you on words and his whole gimmick is kind of the underdog clawing out from the bottom. It's a lesser Cody story, maybe almost the same as Cody last year, and Sami with Gunther last year, but I know those dudes can tell me a story in the ring, leading up to, and deliver. This will likely forever put the Raw title into the "lesser" belt territory since you know they can't put Jey out there the way they do Cody.

My hope is for some crazy things leading up to mania and maybe we get some surprises, cause just copying the same story from the last couple years just so I can see that overgrown idiot McAfee "Yeet" on a table for the spectacle of it isn't my cup of tea. Jey is crazy over RIGHT NOW IN the arenas, I'd ride it just like this with him trying to break through until it seems like the crowd is finally getting over it then strike. Him winning at Mania will not make him more over, and I just hate that the dude went from arguably the worst singles match in Mania history to a title win the next year.

Cedric Alexander, The Authors of Pain, Paul Ellering, Sonya Deville, and Blair Davenport were released by WWE today.

I think it's fucked up that Triple H is calling up NXT talent with no plans for them on the main roster. Blair Davenport barely got a chance.

The other releases? I'm not surprised.

Karrion Kross is doing his best work without the rest of the Final Testament and AOP never got over.

Cedric Alexander is good in the ring but doesn't have a character. He was perfect with The Hurt Business.

Sonya Deville....

Sonya gave Iyo Sky one of her worst matches last year and fans were chanting, "This is boring."

Nothing of value was lost, sorry to say.

AoP - No direction, probably didn't help trying to stick them in a faction with a dude who is better off with just him and Scarlett. I'd be Ellering didn't want to deal with the travel again at his age and they just never really got any better then they are.
Cedric is very solid, but like most of the other hurt business guys he's bland outside of that group and no matter if MVP wants to believe it or not they had run their course. If he keeps wrestling I'm sure Tony will find him a spot in his flippy fed along with the Hurt Business so that Lashley can move on from being a nonsense tag guy.
Sonya, good riddance cause she is awful. I can't recall a time with her on any roster she wasn't piss break segments. Apart of some of the worst matches, and easily one of the worst groups in WWE history.
Blair...I don't really know why she doesn't catch on anywhere. She seems fine, but maybe it's just simply all the younger athletes they bring in to train just are developing quicker?

The easy enough answer for that is he doesn’t have to be champion. Just because he’s challenging for the title at Mania doesn’t mean he has to win it. Jey can be the big babyface people are getting behind for Gunther to chop down as his championship reign rolls on. If Jey’s popularity is peaking going into Wrestlemania then that’s a way you can make use of it.

Just to add to this Duke Hudson is also done. (Technically WWE does pre-release notices.) As for Sonya I could make the crack about how does Naomi still have a job? (Admittedly I say that because when they did that stupid feud between her and Sonya I actually felt sorry for Sonya given how poorly it was done. I still think Naomi is terrible and yes I realize being married to one of the Usos helps her out.)

I guess I'm just not looking forward to it as a main event after how hard Jimmy and Jey flopped last year in a big spot. That match really should have been a layup for them considering it had a decent build and you would think those two should have some chemistry together.

I'll go in with low expectations and allow myself to be surprised if he ends up doing great.

How dare you. Nothing of value? Show some respect when you're talking about the next round of game-changers for AEW.

I guess the thing about that Jey/Jimmy match is the two of them are always looking to do similar things so their weaknesses are highlighted. Whereas Gunther is so good at the fundamentals that he can hopefully look at what Jey can do well and build around that while hiding the weaker aspects.

The Good Brothers, Giovanni Vinci, and Isla Dawn as well.

I'm sure there's more to come.

Naomi is still super over, so I can see her sticking around WWE for some time. You still have wrestlers like B-FAB who are still on the main roster getting screen time. She should be in NXT Level Up.

That's true. As blah as I feel about Jey in a WM main event, it is great that Gunther will be getting a spotlight like that and yeah he's definitely capable of elevating someone like Jey. We'll see.

They finally got her over? I gave up on her with that whole Sonya Deville angle. (Still not going to watch her at this point but then again there's a ton of other wrestlers that are fast forward fodder for me.) Wonder what happened with Vinci. (I mean he was on what? twice losing to Apollo Crews.)

Noami has been featured on TV regularly and the crowd loves her. She has been in multiple title matches against Nia Jax while being a tag team champion with Bianca Belair.

There's a rumor going around that Vinci was being punished for hitting on Tiffany Stratton (Ludwig Kaiser's girlfriend) and that's why he was kicked out of Imperium and moved over to Smackdown. I don't know the source to this rumor, but this is the type of shit Vince would do if he wants to punish a wrestler. lol

- Penta and Jordynne Grace signed with WWE
- Nikki Bella and Trish Stratus are returning to WWE.
- Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair returned during the Royal Rumble.
- Asuka, Ilja Dragunov, Jade and Tyler Bate are returning from Injury soon
- Aleister Black might be on his way back to WWE
- Ricky Starks might sign with WWE
- Roxanne Perez is getting called up and they're really pushing her on the main roster.

I can see why cuts are being made because they have a loaded roster, but Triple H's booking still needs a lot of work and he's going to have a lot on his table within the next year because Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer are two wrestlers they have to push a year from now. They can't fumble these two wrestlers.

He’s right. As much as I enjoyed it a couple years ago it’s become trash. TK is terrible at this
Well I guess there is one exception which would be CM Punk. Admittedly he's more important now than he was at the end of his term at AEW because he kind of showed us how much of a shit show it really is. (And I say that as someone that doesn't like Punk.)
