Zero Time Dilemma (Zero Escape 3) featured in Famitsu

Team Q's definitely the strangest since it leaves you wondering what these people have to do with the end of the trilogy.

So...this new Zero looks tall...and has a cane.

There was a certain tall participant in 999 that was tall and could benefit from using a cane. ;o

If Radical-6 is cured, people in the future will need ice cream. And someone to scoop said ice cream.

No

Phi is a dog, short for Phido

And the kid of Sigma and Diana

keep up :V

*sigh*

Guess this is it for me and the Zero Escape threads until the game hits.
I can't take these crazy troll fan theories. And the spoilers. Jesus christ, the spoilers!

Someone keep me updated on significant stuff via PM please :<

that doesn't make sense, if R6 doesn't escape then the future will have an abundance of ice cream men. No here's there in case it DOES escape, the best and brightest of humanity were chosen, you definitely need a homicidal ice cream man to preserve humanity.

I'd rather have these than one that actually gets it right. I'll PM you if anything shows up, though you'll probably see a new thread when that happens.

Plot twist,
Ice Cream in the Rad-6 world is a luxury, that's why in 207x ol' Tenmyouji is able to pull some strings, contacts his old friend Eric (who runs a shady bar) and takes Quark to try the fabled Root Beer Float. While Quark is busy tasting the delicious Vanilla Ice Cream drowned in fizzy soda, Eric smiles at Junpei and whispers: "I almost didn't recognize him without the helmet. So it is true that he doesn't grow up..."
Junpei nods silently, recalling the events of the Mars Test Site.....

I see Akane's playing it safe and making sure she has a firefighter with her this time.
I hope Junpei
calls her out and tells Captain America to not believe a damn word she says and to not buy her helpless girl act.
Captain has a sick little sister he loves too, he's the exact kind of sucker Akane would play like a fiddle

Okay we need this trailer already.

No John, you are Gab, who is really a piece of bacon. Zero Escape was a metaphor for bacon being cooked, that is why Q wears a pig mask.

We were playing as
the Funyarinpa
all along.
Four dimensional entity. Powerful enough to save the world. Recognized by Akane.

I'm a little confused, is sigma in ZTD the same young sigma that went through the events of VLR, then went back to the past, or old sigma in the past?

Both. And neither. Possibly.

Timeline of Dr. Klim's mind (VLR):

1. 2006 - Dr. Klim is born.
2. Christmas day, 2028. (point A) Dr. Klim is knocked out in his car.
3. Jumps forward in time to January 25, 2074, and plays the AB Game (point A to point B)
4. Finishes AB Game (point B to point C)
5. Jumps back to when the virus has already escaped - April 13th, 2029. (point C to point D)
6. Waits 45 years and sets up the Nonary Game (point D to point B)
7. When the Nonary Game starts, he jumps back to Christmas day, 2028, before the virus escapes (point B to point A)
8. He infiltrates the testing site and fails. (point A to point D)
9. He goes back to the future, right after his body is "stabbed" in the garden (point D to point C).

This is essentially the perspective we experienced VLR in.

Timeline of Dr Klim's body (VLR):

1. 2006 - Born
2. Christmas day, 2028 - Knocked out by Crash Kreys organization, possessed by his older self that has both experienced the AB game and spent 40+ years researching to develop it.
3. Body gets mutilated at the mars test site
4. Possessed by his younger self that has experienced the AB game, but has yet to research how to develop it.
5. Body goes to the moon and spends decades researching in the name of science
6. Body placed in elevator at start of AB game.
7. Body possessed by younger self that has not experienced the AB game yet
8. Body "stabbed" by Akane (actually just knocked out with the blunt end of the knife)
9. Body finally possessed by old self that has experienced the AB game, spent 40+ years researching to develop it, and remembers his failure and mutilation at the mars test site.

Now, some of the paths in VLR (everything other than the "true" end) have alternate timelines to 8 and 9. All we know is that at least one of the paths in ZTD will have 3. In other paths, that 22 year old body will perish. Etc. And because of jumping shenaningans, who knows the state of the mind inhabiting the body of 22 year old Sigma Klim?. Remember, in one third of the paths you take in VLR, K is Akane. In the other two thirds, K is Kyle. Likewise, the bodies in ZTD may be inhabited by different minds in different paths.

And remember: Akane sees all possibilities, as told by the narration of 999. How the fuck is she still sane?

Okay, this is actual serious theory talk. This is all 999 and VLR spoilers.

Since we know about the 3 teams, that answers a lot of questions about the cast based on what we learned from VLR. Diana thought she killed the other 6, but didn't know that at least some of them were still alive. Obviously Junpei and Akane definitely survived, but we don't know about the others since we have never seen them before ZTD.

We also know that since Junpei was part of the "planning" of the simulation, then Team C had to have help planned it, and something Team D did was what caused Radical-6 to be released. Akane in VLR doesn't know what happened because she wasn't in the group that was responsible.

So the biggest question this leaves is Akane. In VLR, Junpei says he hasn't seen her in years. According to the 999 answers, Junpei continued searching for Akane but never found her. Given the events of VLR, and the fact that this was written before VLR was even announced, I think this might be more nebulous. In VLR, he says the events there were what caused him to become bitter, and started carrying Akane's picture. Is this because he was with Akane at the test site, and then was separated from her? ZTD takes place one year after 999. Between ZTD and VLR, plenty of time passes for him to not find Akane.

So the big question is how are they both here, but this isn't brought up in VLR? Is my above theory correct? Is there some retcon going on here (I doubt it)? Did Akane pull a Dio and replace someone?

Edit: WAIT A MINUTE, SHE HAS THE FEVER IN THAT SCREENSHOT BECAUSE SHE ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE THERE!!!

Also sounds like Uchikoshi is really going for that “hard R” rating

Now that you mention it, Phi definitely looks different (not just in hairstyle and glasses) than before. Hmmm.....

Just WHO IS PHI?

Agreed. I'm glad that ZTD is going back to the tense atmosphere from 999, but I hope he doesn't overdo it. The last VN with a Z rating that I read was "Shin Hayarigami" and that one was really disgusting. I quit playing after one timeline even though I like horror stories.

Anyone want to translate what Zero is saying in that one screenshot from the scans? I'm really curious.

Sure, gimme a second.

edit: it's almost the same as the quote from the character profiles.

運命とは理不尽なものだ
something like "Fate is absurd/cruel/random/irrational"

Something's bothering me....

Having Zero stand with the cast is odd.
999/VLR spoilers
In these games its traditional/a pattern to cast suspicion that "Zero" is one of the main participants. This time we dont have that....
This could still happen since it was like that in
999

Yes and no.

In 999
Zero was only in it through pre-recorded messages
while the group did other stuff. In ZTD it seems like you actually see Zero in his costume in the flesh (unless the screenshot of Zero is a video recording?)

I'm not ruling it out, but from what we know at that moment it seems not as likely as it was in the previous games that Zero is one of them this time. That's the impression I got anyway.

Thats my "worry", we've never seen Zero like this before

according to old news articles, VLR was also announced in Famitsu in 2011. This was one of the first images for the game back then, with Zero III right next to the characters:

from andriasang, rip

So I don't think there's a deeper meaning behind it; for all we know, Zero could be [999/VLR spoilers]
a robot/gaulem, a returning character, a video recording, etc.

The difference is that Zero III
obviously wasn't the 'real' Zero,
the Zero in ZTD seems like the real deal, thus making him/her one of the participants less likely.

Good point, but do we know that
Plague Doctor is the real Zero?
It's an Uchikoshi game, I won't trust anything until I've finished the game ;)

But that is if we assume all three groups play simultaneously.
This is Uchikoshi we are talking about.

Having them isolated is like asking for a twist.

Good points fellas, especially about the Plague Doctor possibly not being the real Zero. Maybe it's
Brother
and the real Zero is playing him like a fool the entire time.

One is a theory that isn't mine and has been said in the thread a dozen times and one is a theory from VLR, not ZTD info.

Actually,

Team C = Carlos (1), Junpei (5), Akane (6)
1+5+6 = 12
1+2 = 3

Team D = Diana (7), Sigma (9), Phi (3)
7+9+3 = 19
1+9 = 10
1+0 = 1

Team Q = Q (4), Eric (2), Mila (8)
4+2+8 = 14
1+4 = 5

CDQ = 315

3+1+5 = 9

still works!

I wonder if
Akane
will receive
her
comeuppance in this game...she's been responsible for A LOT of shit...

Like, a lot.
What has she been responsible for exactly?

I really don't understand people who try to pin
Akane as a bad guy. Is some of her actions questionable? Sure but she's doing it for a greater good.

In the first game, she did what she did to stay alive and not create a paradox.

In the second, she did what she did to save the world from a bad ending.

Imagine how many times she experienced her loved ones, even the whole world dying over and over.
