This. He used to go hard in the paint shitting on Sony first party graphics when he was here pre-exodus scam (and pre-DF). In every graphics comparison thread showing the fault in 400x zoom compared to the mighty Star Citiscam.
I didn't know he was here. I knew John was.

What was Alex's nick? I need to see this for myself.

I actually didn’t know SH2 was console exclusive.

I was actually expecting to see Xbox peeps at the OT to show a shared love in SH2 because as I remember Maria’s dlc content was Xbox exclusive for a time meaning SH2 released on the Xbox as well.

I think he just doesn't like sony in general or he just doesn't associate them more unlike Microsoft.

Of course he has bias, everyone has bias. But I think at least he is pretty professional in his analysis related to sony hardwares.

The op making this thread exposing him as hypocrite is legitimate.
I've found over time that pc fanboys start out as Xbox fanboys, so have a soft spot for Microsoft which they don't for PS.

That said, personally I like Alex on digital foundry, he makes excellent videos

One of the threads I remember was one for HZD when it launched and comparing it to Star Citizen.
That kinda makes sense. Not that the comparison would make sense, but comparing an engine heavily relying on GPGPU to get the job done, because the Jaguar cores suck ass and not in a pleasant way, to a work-in-progress pipe dream utilizing an engine that already exists - yeah, that's Alex. Doesn't mean the comparison is in any way valid. Just that he would make it.

MS has let Sony take so many timed exclusive this gen, it makes no sense given they have spent $83 billion this gen alone.

- Godfall
- Genshin Impact
- Deathloop
- Stray
- Kena
- Ghostwire Tokyo
- Forspoken
- FF7 rebirth
- FF16
- Stellar Blade
- Silent Hill 2

Then there are self own goals by MS like Baldurs Gate 3 and Wukong. $83 billion and cant afford to send engineers to get some console versions up and running.

you genuinely think it'll do well on xbox? it wont save FF, exclusivity is not always the problem.

I think if it came to Xbox and particularly Switch 2, it'd see a big boost in sales. But regardless, the damage is done. They already screwed this up by not launching simultaneously on all platforms. People care a lot less about exclusives becoming available 2+ years after their original release.

And it's a paid exclusive to be kept off of other consoles. Try to keep up.
His point is that FF16 flopped on PC. So did Forspoken. So did GOW Ragnorak. Horizon FW. and 90% of other Sony exclusives.

Getting these games on PC and Xbox wouldnt have saved them. The audience is primarily on PS5. These games from Square flopped because they simply didnt resonate with fans just like Concord. Plenty of PS5 console exclusives like Helldivers 2, Spiderman 2, GOW Ragnorak succeeded with 10+ million sales despite not launching on other consoles.

The pc market is a different beast. They have a very different taste in games. Only rare console games see success on PC. Souls games, CD Project games and helldivers are literally the only ones i can think of. Even CoD flops on PC. Dragon Age, a fucking WRPG, is set to flop on steam. Even bethesda RPGs no longer have that guaranteed success on PC like they used to.

Look at the top 20 list of top played games on steam today. They dont give a fuck about games like Silent Hill 2, Forspoken, FF16, kena, Ghostwire tokyo and other games sony secured as console exclusives.

This last part is true, but then again souls games, gta games all launched years after they launched on consoles and found an audience.

We have seen sales split of these games on xbox. it's like 15% xbox at best. 10% pc. the rest is PS5 and PS4.

Let’s be real. If it was on Xbox it wouldn’t sell and it would just be “on game pass when?” line of comments.

If I was a developer I would have 0 interest in putting my games on Xbox except maybe a shooter or sports game.

I mean, cry more but this is what taking care of your customer looks like.

You might ask, how does keeping a game off Xbox help me?

You already know that answer, hahaha. Pretending like you don't is actually hilarious. Let me guess, you don't fart either?

I guess I'll spell it out for you. It's really simple.

When a bear is chasing you in the woods, you don't have to outrun the bear, just the other guy you are with. Many of us have a simple binary choice. Xbox or Playstation. Sony don't have to be good. Just better than Xbox. 2 ways to do it. Make Sony better and make Xbox worse.

Understand now? I understand the appeal to "morals" of Sony as a company and gamers, but you are better off shouting in the wind. It just comes off as whining, disappointment and jealously. Truth is Sony exclusive owners love this shit and want more of it. Microsoft has all the money in the world and instead of spending it on their customers they spent it at the expensive of their customers and are now going 3rd party. Xbox exclusive gamers are getting the shit end of the stick and their games are all coming to playstation. How is Sony the bad guy for treating their customers right and not Xbox, who is screwing over XSX owners like myself not? Xbox had one great game this gen and they closed the studio.

How'd FF16 flop on PC? It's probably going to have more concurrent users on Steam than any other single player FF game in history this weekend and extrapolating concurrent numbers compared to past Steam games, it's probably on pace to sell a million+ units on PC. Same goes for Ragnarok and Forbidden West.

For the very minuscule investment required to port these games, it's a no brainer to keep releasing them. And if they start releasing them day-and-date they'll undoubtedly see substantial sales increases as well.

PC is MS adjacent by proxy no matter how much people punch the air saying it's not. 99% of the PCMR sides with Xbox over the threat of Sony. Hence the joke in the console wars web cartoon that nailed it all.
PC isn't Xbox, which is what I was replying to. Read my comment below that. Maybe he just dislikes money hats? Idk.

Sony have signed many exclusives off as console exclusives so PC gamers might not like them, as a publisher.

It's got a peak of 22k players on its first weekend. Its ranked 76th on the most played games right now? How is that a success?

I dont know how you get 1 million sold from that but even if you assume it does, thats hardly a success considering Steam will take 30% of that and port costs are still in the millions.

In an interview with Eurogamer, co-founder of CD Projekt Red, Marcin Iwinski, explained to them...
If the consoles are not involved there is no Witcher 3 as it is, we can lay it out that simply. We just cannot afford it, because consoles allow us to go higher in terms of the possible or achievable sales; have a higher budget for the game, and invest it all into developing this huge, gigantic world.

God of War 2018 on PC peaked at 73k concurrent users and it has sold close to 3 million units lifetime, for example.

And new game releases tend to hit peak concurrent users the Sunday afternoon after the game comes out. So we'll see where that lands after this weekend, but I think a fair guess is around 30k for FF16.

These kind of exclusives have always been a thing and nobody used to ever complain. If you wanted something you bought it. End of story. Now we seem to be living amongst an entire generation of people who look for something to be mad about. Such a waste of time. Just shut the fuck up because nobody cares.
