This is more than just VR.
And we will see about that...
$299 controllers and $399 power adapter not included*Can we get a $3500 Apple gaming console? Please!![]()
I think the long term goal of minimalism is to get rid of the PC tower. We're simply just not there yet. So for short term, your plan makes way more sense and is a more versatile option. The only use this seems to have is as a screen for virtual desktop, but they didn't really get deep into that aspect. Quest 3 is going to do the majority of this shit for $500 without having to carry a battery around in your pocket. $3500 can buy you a Quest 3, a 4090 desktop, and decent router.
With the optional Apple branded power cable ($500), you will be able to plug the battery pack on your belt into a wall outlet and continuously enjoy your cinema. Watch The Godfather trilogy and The Star Wars trilogy withought a single recharge!!!It doesn't even have enough battery life to comfortably watch most movies on the thing.
Seriously, what are they smoking?
Can we go underwater too ?
She looks like Thandie Newton going Berserk in Westworld.See the wearers eyes looks goofy for some reason.

I think a lot of people are missing the fact that this is not just an headset, it is a working PC.

Just buy a projector, it’s cheaper and friends and family can watch the movies too and you won’t have a red ring on your face afterwards. For me this is where they've really fucked it, the battery life.
I can't help but think that silly external screen will be contributing to the battery life being poor along with causing the price to inflate. If it was being sold for 2k and had at least double the battery life then I would have considered it purely for the cinema features. I have over 200 4k movies purchased in my apple TV account, it would have been a cool way to experience some of them again.
That does make it sound more appealing as a product, but it's still a heavy price at launch.
Maybe this will gain traction in professional business and university spaces and they release a cheaper model more geared towards gaming later.
But then again, it's Apple.
For me this is where they've really fucked it, the battery life.

Apple's ultimate goal is to probably have a new model every other year, in fact I'm sure the less featured version is in the works for the unwashed masses (myself). The you can have one too kids, it just won't be as good version. Apple Vison SE.For me this is where they've really fucked it, the battery life.

I don't think gaming will ever be the main goal...
But if there is one company that can pull bringing this to the masses that company certainly is Apple.
Not unless they find a way where these things can be subsidized on a data plan model like the iPhones. That's how the vast majority get their iPhones after all.
Their sheep who praise them and will pay anything and everything even if it means to live on the street.Gosh. Who are they selling this to again?

Reminds me of a snorkel or scuba mask lol.See the wearers eyes looks goofy for some reason.

I mean it's launched at the wrong time, I can see this working for their employees since Apple is pro work from home but right now with the targeted ways they're going after WFH folks in not sure what success it'll haveI have a feeling this will be a massive failure...
I’m assuming you can just plug it in.It doesn't even have enough battery life to comfortably watch most movies on the thing.

Just a 2 hour one, give or take, but more than likely take. Well short of them Marvel flicks un current year.
Vegas.really? where do you live where you still see people with masks?
Apple TV is their gaming console, and it works great for Apple Arcade games. How much is that? $100?The tech is extremely impressive (they will probably iterate it down to something more affordable), they're also seemingly using this and Apple arcade as a way to build relationships with game publishers and devs. An Apple gaming console is on the way IMO.
I just checked - Quest 2 is 2-3 hours. What made you think Apple can do better without making it bulkier? This is a company that sells a smartwatch that barely lasts through the day vs. Garmin Epix that lasts a week.2 hours is ridiculous.
The fact that they have a cable going to your ass meaning they could have included a good battery without making the actual headset bulky.I just checked - Quest 2 is 2-3 hours.
