Why should anyone buy? It's on Game Pass.None of that matters. How many bought it?
In their defense, they say this about every Xbox title. Avowed was also supposed to be a woke turd. Indy was supposed to be a woke buggy turd rushed out of the gate to make it “before the end of the year”. Don’t listen to GAF.
The "its on Game pass" is one of the factors why the Xbox turned into an Ex-box.Why should anyone buy? It's on Game Pass.
Microsoft's problem. Not mine as a consumer. The "its on Game pass" is one of the factors why the Xbox turned into an Ex-box.
Common sense is not allowed when is about Gamepass stuff… So please, don’t use it.Why should anyone buy? It's on Game Pass.
Just listen to me.Don’t listen to GAF.
Yes it does. Business cares about MAU/engagement now, not sales.None of that matters. How many bought it?
The persecution complex is strong with that one.And plenty of folks here at GAF were disputing all that. Don't generalize GAF.
who said its your problem, people are talking about meaningless metrics. it'll also be your problem too in next episode of "xbox studio hunger games"Microsoft's problem. Not mine as a consumer.
Sales is also meaningless metric for games on gamepass. The only useful metric is profits.who said its your problem, people are talking about meaningless metrics. it'll also be your problem too in next episode of "xbox studio hunger games"
Indy didn't even chart in the NPD Xbox bestsellers on Xbox in it's second month.I'll let you guess why they talk about "engagement" instead of sales, aka REAL profits.
Yeah but they used to tweet out numbers fairly regularly for newly released games. If there hadn't been an investor call I doubt we would have got Indy numbers. They announced Indy had 4 million players last month during the investors call
Absolutely, 100% well deserved. Avowed and everyone involved should be proud and feel vindicated that *checks notes* mindgamedata.com chose to guess that 5.9M people played the game based on search engine metrics and stream tracking rather than actual tracking of active users or purchasers.Great game well deserved miles better than indiana bug jones.
It is your problem when you end up with cliffhanger endings and no desire to make a sequel. Or when a game comes out buggy and they don't bother to fix it. Or they abandon content plans because no one bought it.Microsoft's problem. Not mine as a consumer.
That means...Indiana Jones was even worse than we imagined.
They took a month to get the Indy numbers out. Avowed has been out for 10 days. I'm not saying this estimate is true, but we probably won't see numbers for a while, assuming they even reveal them.If the number was so great then MS would have announced it.
Mindshare, lol?
From Steam:
Owner estimations
If we assume even less bought it on Xbox(due to gamepass) then what about static sales? Under 500k? Way less? How many did it sell? Also, 5-9? That's a HUGE gap, it's like saying I way between 150 and 300 pounds. WTF. These numbers are meaningless, but they are trying REALLY hard to convince us this wasn't a flop. I think just the perception that this was a flop might really hurt the studio so they are working on this shit.

It is the same with full priced games that sells poorly. It is your problem when you end up with cliffhanger endings and no desire to make a sequel. Or when a game comes out buggy and they don't bother to fix it. Or they abandon content plans because no one bought it.
I read it as midgames.mindGame? Is this reliable?
That part isn't your problem. The original problem is a MS problem for sure, but the people that cheer it on are also another side of that problem. It is the same with full priced games that sells poorly.
Why should I pay more than what the owner is charging??
Look at the completion percentage for the first three story related achievements on Xbox and Steam. Very interesting.a lot of GP players don't even get the first few achievements.
This normally ends up being the case with almost anything under the Disney umbrella. The Star Wars games are better too.Which is a shame. The video game is light years better than both of those movies and temple of doom.

TBF, Indy did massively bomb, by every metric. Avowed is probably half or a 1/3 the budget of Indy. It's surely doing decently given thatIn their defense, they say this about every Xbox title. Avowed was also supposed to be a woke turd. Indy was supposed to be a woke buggy turd rushed out of the gate to make it “before the end of the year”. Don’t listen to GAF.
Can you think of a better way to estimate the number? They're not claiming it's the official number. The PKInsight article headline looks like the culprit here.![]()
Seems like a whole bunch of predictions based on steam peak numbers, streaming views and search volume. I won't even bother with it
I am.I’m not even trying to single out this game. That’s pretty much how every game is on gamepass on Xbox.
Extremely vague ("players") and optimistic ones, too. We're working on estimates now? Ok lol
Isn't this what we'd assume? Part of the appeal of Game Pass for developers is to get people to try the game. Actual game purchase players would be more likely to continue to play the game.Look at the completion percentage for the first three story related achievements on Xbox and Steam. Very interesting.

And refunds like Steam does. What would help sell games again is probably demos.
Halo MCC is on gamepass? It is your problem when you end up with cliffhanger endings and no desire to make a sequel. Or when a game comes out buggy and they don't bother to fix it. Or they abandon content plans because no one bought it.
Halo MCC was only fixed because there was potential of people buying it later. If this same product was GP slop, it would have stayed in its original state. Sometimes you need to look past today.
If Game Pass engagement is going to be used as a defense for poor sales, we need to contextualize it.Isn't this what we'd assume? Part of the appeal of Game Pass for developers is to get people to try the game. Actual game purchase players would be more likely to continue to play the game.
I wasn't commenting on sales. I was commenting on the engagement difference between people playing on Game Pass and Steam. If Game Pass engagement is going to be used as a defense for poor sales, we need to contextualize it.
If Avowed isn't selling a ton of copies (because of Game Pass) and Game Pass users aren't playing the game for more than an hour or two, why would Microsoft keep them around? What value do they have?
Well i'm on Gamepass and i'm 40 hours in. Its also the most fun and addictive game i have played in quite a while. So imo all the people trolling the game are the ones missing out.If Game Pass engagement is going to be used as a defense for poor sales, we need to contextualize it.
