Sometime in April after all the PS gamers on sub plan have a chance to download the game, EA will release a statement saying something like............

..... We are pleased to announced Veilguard has hit 6,000,000 players!
Reminds me of some other company. All those people who think number of players is the key to success shall be rejoicing at its success.

Reminds me of this. Almost exactly what is happening now, just 0.1 out.

Id love to see the breakdown of the splits given to studios that release games on GP. If 85% are playing your game through a sub, and I'd imagine another good chunk are either stacked cheap subs or $1 trial subs, how then is that company making any money. Or if they are getting paid the difference straight from MS then how much money are they actually making from it.

It's easy to see why they are going multiplatform to sustain this. If they announced for example 5.9m players played it on PS5 you know that's 5.9m copies sold and even after the 30% platform fee it's still a lot of actual money.

There’s been leaked figures from third parties who have released I believe in the court docs?

There’s a reason Microsoft want to obtain as many studios as possible, they have the most varied releases by any publisher at this point.

Not everyone’s going to play AoE, and that’s alright because CoD skins pay for it in a sense. All I’m saying if one games only played by 1 million players, but another games played by 10 million completely different players that’s alright and a good thing, but like Netflix they need the romcom trash as much as the war documentary only watched by a few.

We won't ever get anything official from Microsoft though, right?
No just like with any company when they having nothing to boast about they have to spin it into shit like this to make it look positive. As soon as they have something to boast about the world will hear it.

It would be interesting to see their gamepass kpis like

I think every side in these platform wars has tried to claim you. I've definitely seen that you're an Xbox and PS warrior - can't recall if you're PCMR, though. :messenger_grinning_smiling:

It's kind of funny when I just spent the last week having a blast playing and talking about Avowed in the OT and prior to that, defending its review scores. I just laugh off silly takes like those these days and/or reply with a snide gif. :messenger_beaming:

I feel like considering how many products in the budget for some of those products in house or however you would calculate that, there's just about no way those kind of numbers could look good.

Once Microsoft ceases production of Xbox consoles and the millions that have digital libraries on those consoles lose their games, the it becomes a problem. But you keep renting games on Gamepass cause it’s not a you problem…
I think that scenario is very unlikely, but of course not impossible. Microsoft is not leaving the gaming business completely, their upcoming handheld model will be marketed as an Xbox (even it it'll turn to be a W11 based device like the ROG) and some current Xbox games are cloud compatible, meaning you don't need a console if you have the game in your digital library. Supporting older and non-cloud games shouldn't be an impossible problem for MS, at least not in the next decade or so.

Avowed from Obsidian Entertainment is the Xbox’s latest first-party title. The game is already praised, giving it a decent Metacritic score. Today, we have discovered that the title has surpassed the likes of Xbox’s previous first-party title, Indiana Jones.

According to mindGame data estimations, in the first month, Avowed generated 5.9 million players worldwide, while Indiana Jones had only 4 million players. Hence, Avowed gained almost 2 million more players from the detective puzzle adventure title.

The data estimation was derived by considering Gamepass users, Steam concurrent players, the game’s search volume, and others. While it does not give fully accurate figures compared to the official one, it still gives a good idea of how the game is performing.

And monster hunter?

Holy shit people are desperate to spin good news on Avowed. Has anyone bothered to look into just who "mindGame" is? You're literally taking some fucking dorks blog, fake ass company, as gospel with these numbers. Go look at their stock ass website, with half the page filled with web hosting ads and read their ChatGPT written "about us' section.

When Microsoft, or ANYONE with any credibility, says that the game was played by 6 million people I'll believe it, until then this is absolutely some tales from my ass reporting.

They also used "search volume" to come up with the 5.9 million number lol. Absolute joke.
