Avowed |OT| Is an oath worth the weight of a crown?

The second area after the tutorial is huge but man I don’t like it at all compared to the first. The woods look so bland and there are mushroom head enemies all over the place. Doesn’t seem to be nearly as much cool movement based hidden item puzzles.

I found some queen tree lady but to get there I had to fight through a lot of tree enemies who attack on site and then she wants to be mad that I killed them 🤷‍♂️

Played for awhile. Feels better than The Outer Worlds going by initial impression. Surprised that the combat is actually challenging, I died on the tutorial fight when learning block lol
In general, positively surprised.

I set all the item/exploration hints to off. Not sure it’s the right way to do it, you have to go up close to see that you can pick up something, can make sniffing around for items frustrating I guess. But I’m thinking it could make exploration more rewarding.

Did you turn item shimmer off? I've watched a streamer run past unique weapons and quest items not having it on.

His Kingdom Come 2 playthrough is good. Just this game he is playing like an idiot. For instance he won't level up his gear but complains while facing higher tier enemies. Thats as fucking stupid as not leveling up your weapons or armor in the Souls game and then complaining about the damage you are dishing and receiving. Avowed has personal level and gear level separate exactly like the Souls games.
I only saw him with mhw and he was unbereable :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Is there a lore reason why the people in the second area and some of the first area speak like italian caricatures? :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Also, if i install the new drivers is there an ingame option to toggle dlss4? I don't wanna use the fucking app.

No, but dlss4 doesnt look that great in this. It still has a weird image quality and some artifact and ghosting too. You can see it when you block with your weapon. Maybe its just ue5 or maybe im just used to the pristine IQ in KCD2

Game looks and plays good on my RTX 4070. I've got all the graphics set to Ultra and DLSS Latest set in the Nvidia App. But I have to drop all the way to performance to get it above 60FPS. Still looks good in Performance.
I've only completed one side quest so far. The first one I found in the port town.
My biggest concern is health. Coming across health/food gives option to either take it or eat it right there. But only a few pixels of health increase. Does that get upgraded later on?
At first I though the magic book was fiddly, but just hit the trigger then push the face button for the spell you want. Pretty simple really.
Dual weilding daggers I felt like I was chopping up french fries. The daggers just hold out in front of your character while you run around. Hold Y to put weapons and books away.
I put all my starting points into Dexterity and Intelligence and nothing into Carry capacity. I'm going to try to not pick up everything in the world this time. I'm bad about that.
I'm enjoying it so far. Music is a bit too 'droning' for my taste in this opening area, maybe it will perk up later on.
Pick everything, you can send everything to your camp stash with a button, carry capacity is not a thing in this game.

At this point i'm just curious to see this new model man :lollipop_grinning_sweat:
But nvidia really hate noobs like me so we don't get an ingame option.

Think Im going with some kind of battle mage build for first time through, after looking at the skill trees. Casting blizzards and meteorstorms sounds too tasty to pass up, I want to see the pyrotechnics 🤣

Dude, its like 3 mouse click in the official nvidia app :D
Nah, i saw a lot of dudes where the "3 clicks" don't work and they had to ask what they did wrong, both here, on reeee and reddit, i'm too lazy to troubleshot for a fucking upscaling :lollipop_grinning_sweat: , also i heard the nvidia app is a performance hog and i like to have my pc super clean without superfluos apps, win11 already suck some ram and cpu with its 394483858 open process in the background.

Played yesterday for 5 hours straight and this game is solid 9 from me. Finished one main quest & 3 or 4 side quests. This is first game after Elden Ring that got me excited on same level. Gameplay, exploration and verticality is a damn good implemented, also story & quests implementation are well done.
Obsidian did damn good job with this game. I'm playing it on Series S & looks gorgeous.

Just a heads up for everyone enjoying the first area: Do every side quest. Do EVERY bounty (they're worth 500g each in the first area, 750 in the second), and gather as much crafting materials as possible.

The second area ramps up the enemy difficulty and without at least all blue, and some purple, items; all of the quests will be three skulls at first. I got a purple sword in the second city that helped A LOT.

Yep. I just arrived to the second area and skipped some side content and the enemies are killing me very quick. I think that the main trick is to upgrade the armor, as long as the armor is good you will be survive long enough to kill the enemies even if the weapons aren't as powerful

One thing that bothers me a bit is the fact that enemies dont respawn, meaning, you are sometimes running through empty areas without any action. I hope they can patch this at some point

That's one of the best things about the game. You can clear out an area of monsters and they're dead.

Fair Enough, I guess I like very much the combat and I want more haha. Maybe adding as an optional thing in the settings menu would be nice. Being able to spawn enemies for those who prefer it this way

Love the fact that I can sprint forever in this game. Also, being able to send stuff back to camp is a godsend.

Otherwise it turns into a Dragon Dogma 2 situation. Take 5 steps and get attacked by the same goblins and harpies. Started hating that shit.

I was wondering if they would respawn. Glad they don't. Gets repetitive to clear out an area and then come back through and have to do it again. Gets to where I just try to run past them so what is the point?

They should reach a balance because walking for long stretches wihtout fighting when combat is by far the best thing in the game is also not optimal.

Btw i'm pretty sure enemies spawn after a wjile because i heard a reviewer talking about grinding enemies...

The Yellowbands camp in Dawnshore definitely respawns.

I've found 3 uniques so far. I haven't even done the first main mission yet. Just been clearing the first large zone doing side missions and finding all kinds of loot. Been sent to the beyond many times by some nasty groups lol. Thank goodness for quick save with F5 and not needing to worry about Schnapps.

Great QOL aspects in this game, that's for sure.

I got this option with the female prisoner in the tutorial:

The combat is absolutely magnificent. I love the impact and all these effects. Pretty well done

I just wish the enemies were less spongy to be honest

What difficulty are you on btw? They took the "easy" route with difficulty being hit harder and enemy becoming sponges. I'll keep path of the damned difficulty because fuck it, I want risk & reward, but that could explain the sponginess of it all.

I went with normal difficulty for starters. Looking at the different class skills, there has to be a few cookie cutter builds that will work on path of the damned but Id rather figure it out on normal first. And also what armor and weapons are worth using.
