Is breaking down weapons and armor better than selling?

If you sell then you don't get the materials you need from them to level up your gear at camp. You only should bother with selling excess armor/weapons after you've got your gear to what you deem is an appropriate level for the area. Also do not overlook the crafting side of the workbench where you convert weaker materials into stronger materials.

Can you only break things down in the camp? I can't seem to do it in the field.

Yes, you can. Look at the bottom of the screen when you select the item

Thanks all

Thanks, feels like I might have wasted a decent amount of equipment in the first area by selling it, instead of breaking it down for parts

What you definitely want to buy from vendors if they're selling is uniques equipment that you want, Aldra, health potions, and lockpicks. Most Aldra you will get is from breaking down uniques you don't want.

Was not feeling the best today, despite that I managed to try out online Melee, but also played another hour or so of Avowed. Didn't get too far, fought the second boss and made it into the town proper, though beyond the cutscene I didn't progress. That looked like an area I'd like to explore fully and didn't have the time at the moment, so cut my time short.

Still enjoying the game. I think the dialogue and whatnot, at least with Kai, is fine. Like I said before, makes me want to play Pillars again hearing these familiar terms, talking about the Deadfire and so forth. Nothing amazing yet, but serviceable. I like the gameplay mostly. Hoping to explore the town more when I get a chance in a couple hours, if I don't just go to bed.

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
Does this game have unskippable cut scenes or, Gos forbid, forced walking / talking story segments?

If you are in a dialog section can you skip part shit?

Neighbours from Hell
I got a really good sword early and even though I've decided to lean Wizard, I still have a shitty common wand and I haven't found a great one yet. It behooves me early to be a wizard warrior hybrid. Is there enough ability points to do a little bit of both? Or do they force you to go only one route?

Is it me.. am I imagining things or are almost all of the speaking characters women? I also thought maybe it was just the armored ones that were flat chested, but seems like even regular folk are just flat as can be. Are there no busts to be found in this game at all?

The smuggler you meet right away in the tutorial is a woman, then the criminal guard captain or whatnot is a woman, then the actual guard captain (I think) is also a woman, then the healer is a woman. Right outside of there I met some other woman, asking me to do a task. Then before I could complete that, there was a smuggler and a guard asking for my help - both women. Shortly thereafter I was hailed by.. a scholar woman. It's just kind of weird. The only male I can think of are the companion and the fellow with the bear. Not really bad per se, just weird once I started thinking about it. Where are all the men? Are they dead somewhere? In a commune by themselves? lol

Game is still good though, enjoying. Hoping to play a few hours tonight, so far wandering around Paradis and working on some side content! Need to fumble with upgrades some too, though not out of necessity yet. Did stumble upon some area boss (optional I think) and he was a bit too tough for me right now considering he's with a big gang. I do like all the trinkets hidden around here and there, things to find. I hope they all aren't side quest related and some are just existing to exist. So far, if all continues on, seems like a good game.

One thing that drives me nuts in reality though is how many randomly breakable crates there are that have absolutely nothing in them. Why!

Make sure you're upgrading things. Not really having any problems with an upgraded common wand so far. The upgrades seem non optional though.

On the first map, who did the Dawntreader mission? What choices did you make?
I killed the guy below and the voice had asked me to leave the golem to her, because once she came out she wanted to go around (with the golem?) I agreed... anyway I had tried to activate the buttons and the voice had told me that I was selfish so I reloaded the game before I tried to activate the button
i wonder if happens something later 🤷‍♂️

What framerate mode did you dudes choose on X?

Balanced. Best of both worlds, better fidelity and no visual cut-back like Performance, and much smoother than a bog-standard 30. Plus you have the option to unlock FPS.

Need to have a 120hz display for it tho.

Playing balanced on xsx on a lg c1 with FPS unlocked

This is the best running / looking xsx game I think I’ve played so far. I’m surprised how well it runs even when there’s a lot of stuff happening on the screen despite how good it looks

This is an interesting case for me personally. The game has me hooked, combat is fun, the world is interesting to explore and navigation is great etc but the narrative just doesn't do much for me. I find the dialogues in general a bit uninspired and juvenile at times. Even with this problem, I still want to keep playing and see the end so the game does a good job with the gameplay unlike Outer Worlds which I found super boring to play

My point is that yeah the narrative is not up to par definitely but if the gameplay is good sometimes that's enough.

Although Obsidian is known for good writing so they definitely need to do something about this in the future. Maybe having more competent people in the writing team, you know removing people that are too worried with politics and put in charge more mature people with more experience

Writing is great IMO.

But I don’t go out looking for culture war stuff in games.

If anyone has that issue, am afraid only juvenile stuff like KCD 2 will seem appealing.

I am enjoying KCD 2 as well but if thats the barometer for what good writing is, am afraid we loose out on lot of themes and content.

I'm in a weird place. Just hit level 5, I only have bounties, most of which are 3 skulls, a question to see Ruynd, go buy fine gear which is like 3600 gold and I'm barely touching 1000, and the next main quests after the investigation at sparrowhawk market which is also a 3 skuller.

There's one quest I haven't picked up yet but I feel a bit aimless now. I have done all the quests leading up to here and upgraded my sword and shield.

I haven't explored the west side of the island yet, and all the future quests are east side. So might just have a wander over there.

Completely serious.

I love KCD2, but not sure thats the only way good writing can be had in games.

….

Unless a game bores me, a game has good writing. Am not finding writing in this to be boring. Its quick and snappy.

There can be lore dumps, if I dont find it interesting, then only I skip.

Upgrade your gear and the skulls will drop in number or go away

Just break down everything you can and upgrade

im very confused about the writing , some say its very good some say its very bad

which is it ?
I say there is nothing to complain about. Its good.

If you were convinced this game had culture war issues, then you might find some stuff to complain about.

Am loving Season 2 of Silo (Apple TV), some people might have issue with it.

I'ts not even close to Veilguard levels, that i can assure you :D
I'm still at the beginning after the boss bear and the exploration gives me Skyrim vibes.
Combat is also fun.
Enjjoying the game so far. Only thing that kinda annoys me is that whole shroom on characters design and sometimes the game is too colorful imho (i like a darker atmo).
Nanite is really lifting the mediocre graphics up a lot. When you stand on top of a high building or cliff and see all the buldings and stuff with max detail and no lod popin, that is something every game should have.
Performance is fine, no crashes so far.
Playing on gamepass.
1440P, DLSS Q + FG (transformer model), with hardware lumen on a 4090 and 5800X3D, capped at 138 FPS (Reflex).
There's some minor traversal stutters now and then, but nothing really bad.

Btw. i'm still on the older DLSS 4 driver, not the latest for Avowed, i think i'll just stick with it unless there is like a big jump in performance or so.

That gang will want to kill you no matter what.
Thanks! I figured it out, I thought I made a mistake because everyone had big skulls on their icons, turns out the skulls don't matter that much in the strength of an enemy. Ended up killing everyone including the boss.

I'm really loving it so far, the exploration, the magic system. I like that you can get bounty items without the quests and get the benefit when you turn it in.

It really feels like a sequel to PoE 2 up to the writing style.

Really? I played a bit balanced with unlocked fps and it seemed like 30fps, i went back to performace mode with unlocked fps but still i am getting fps drops here and there.

Absolutely not, i finished it in 27 hours doing almost all sidequests except on the last zone where i just rushed, get 1-2 months on GP on a keys site for like 8€ per month and that's it.

Also it's not the kind of game you'll be playing again in months or years.
Are you playing on normal or rushing?

I'm more than 20 hours in and didn't even erased half of the fog of war in the second map...

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or this game is supposed to be difficult, but after a smooth sailing as a start, I can't win any battles anymore and have to just run away. I don't know if it's because I'm a Wizard so have really weak defense or if I've been skipping the side stuff like upgrades and enchantments, but every time I wander off or fight a boss or even different enemies when I'm out exploring I'm barely denting its health but it kills me in like two hits. But even my healing items don't work. It does that thing where the bar is fully red, but half of it is light red and the other half is dark red. I still don't exactly get whats happening here, maybe I just skipped over the tutorial that explained it or something.

Should I be having this much of an issue with battles? I'm early on, level 7.
Dismantle everything you don't use at the camp and upgrade your weapons, weapon level is the most important thing.

Always bring the dwarf with you, forget that you have 2 companion spot, you only really have one, his skill to check for loot around you is vital to not lose tons of loot, he is the worst companion with the best skill, obsidian hate us.

I don't really have combat tips because when your loot is on an adeguate level, combat is pretty easy, i guess kill healers and evokers first maybe?!

Potions work everytime, food only heal you fast outside of combat, but slowly if you are fighting, cook food in your camp and maybe drink something that improve defense and attack before entering combat.

The lack of NPCs walking about is very very strange, and does detract from the experience a bit - can’t deny that.

Obisidian made an action RPG, not a Skyrim like. That's the way I see it. It's a fun but shallow action game like old school console Baldur's Gate with a lot more dialogue, not a deep RPG. Once I figured that out, I am enjoying it more. Fun factor above immersion. We'll have to wait for the next ES for that.

Developers are having a really hard time with Unreal Engine 5
You people need to stop with this bullshit, ue5 can have hundreds of npcs and advance physics aswell, it's a developer thing, not an engine thing.

Starfield has zero destruction and you can barely interact with npcs, and they don't have night\day cycle or any routine and it is made with the same engine of oblivion and skyrim, what was the excuse for that one?

You think that an open world juggernaut like cd project would chose ue5 if it was hard to have npcs and shit?? Cmon...

KCD 2 is Crytek.

It has a lot of stuff Bethesda does with Creation engine.

I think it depends on dev.

Am not surprised Obsidian decided to omit this stuff or considered adding in 😂
