I actually havent seen much media of this game so far, but it seems very Elder Scrolls like so far from Watching CohhCarnage playing it. I hope that continues to be honest. Been enjoying Kingdom Come but i have to admit i miss the fantasy elements in that game and i feel this could be a nice alternative.

yeah and he also said that veilguard is one of the best games in years so i wouldnt trust his opinion too much
I unsubscribed to him (was subscribed to him when he was starting out) for the Veilguard review. He didn't mention any of the controversy surrounding the game. If a person reviews the game and there's glaring controversy surrounding it and they don't talk about that aspect of the game, I can't trust or relate to them anymore.

I’m the opposite, especially when the “controversy” is a big nothing burger like omg genders or omg such and such employee said this on twitter and I am butt hurt about it! Unless it’s something that actually relates to the game, leave it out of the review please.

I’m early in, only done a couple quests and leveled up a couple times. My super quick and too early impressions, and reminder these are coming from someone who enjoyed Outer Worlds quite a bit:

- Combat seems very good. Also it’s not at all easy. It will get easier when you level up more, but melee packs a punch, spells look and feel great, swapping between two “loadouts” any time you want is good.

- Game seems much more grounded than Outer Worlds, especially the dialogue. It really feels like an Obsidian take on a smaller scale TES game.

- Dialogue itself so far is very good. Better than OW, but mostly different.

- Graphics and performance, chefs kiss. Playing on Series X.

My only complaint so far, drop damage when there’s no other way to get down off of a ledge.

Voice acting is also quite good so far. But again with all of this, very early.

Damn man I'm tempted to pay the extra to play it. Must resist haha.

I don't know what you mean by 'omg genders'. I don't recall any controversy of genders being in Veilguard.

Haha, I made exactly the same dude, just with a different, less visible godmark.

Anyway, Im having so much fun. The first impressions are super positive - the combat is excellent and makes you want to experiment and think of the best strategy at any given situation. You feel like you want to explore the world. Writing is good. Doesn't really feel like OW at all, more like an 15 year old rpg with a modern controls and graphics. I don't know if it is the right word to describe it, but it feels, you know, cozy to play it. And that doesn't mean it is an easy game.

I am hoping the the steelbook does not have any imperfections or scratches.

That has been a thing when I get a steelbook.

Sorry if this has been asked before... If I buy the Upgrade Addon for $22.49 can I start playing today? I have Game Pass Ultimate but I don't know if I also need to buy the game.

Just an hour in so far and I'm really liking it. The game despite it being a different genre actually still feels like a Pillars of Eternity game unlike Dragon Age Veilguard. It's a Dragon Age game in name only.
That's great to hear because I loved PoE an was hoping this would keep the same 'feel'.

It did seem like it when I was watching the review hearing the writing and voices.

Explored the first city and the area outside of it. Combat is tough or I just suck. Died once. Everyone hits kind of hard and lots of people just sit back while you are fighting melee guys and they pelt you with spears and arrows and shit. I could have probably remedied this by buying some supplies in the city but I didn’t. Set up my first party camp and had some long dialogue with Kai. Really want to stress how good the writing seems early on.

Also loving the combat despite the difficulty. Currently rocking a two handed hammer in one loadout and a wand/book in the other. The spells all look fantastic and pack a punch.

Also already killed a few bears. I wasn’t expecting a lot of bears.

just had two major bugs on PC. That Alabama error and I fell through the map. Distance to objective was 324 and now it’s 2,933.

Well, my Steelbook is in Texas and I am in Missouri. Allegedly, it will arrive tomorrow.

This was supposed to be release day delivery, Amazon.

I bought this ages ago.

Man , the artstyle surely took a dump . Deadfire is beautiful , I know its supposed to be a different region in Avowed but I just don't see the same beautiful landscapes and settings from POE games
