Its a parody at this point. I knew the game was trash after the director was doing damage control before release. The characters look like shit and the promotion videos had modern-day Obsidian writing written all over it.

Just to be clear, I'm just not jumping in day 0 at premium $138 CAD. I still think there's things in it that seems interesting, just a wait and see approach with how more peoples feel about the game after playing it and or in the future at lower price.

I find it quite silly though the dancing around and circle jerking of peoples wanting this to fail. Cmon guys. Stop the warrior attitude. I think that the fact we don't get a peak obsidian RPG means every gamers lose, everyone.
It's not peak Obsidian though, that's the point.

Empires rise and fall. The people who made these developers great are no longer there, and many of them have been replaced by talentless ideologues.

Bethesda, Obsidian and Bioware are long dead. Treyarch have recently joined that list too.

Get excited about games that look interesting, not because games are made by a certain studio that did great things a decade ago.

So far with what I'm seeing, it needs still needs some tweaks and patches. I don't mind the odd-looking NPCs and there being more women than men, like some western-brand harem anime.

Time will tell on how much this sells.

Eh....the score ain't mid though. Some of the things said about the game are concerning, but 80 is a great score.

In other news : everyone has the right to like and enjoy whatever they desire, but, this game appears to be yet another DA: Veilguard, Concord, etc case where the absolutely non biased press® will wax lyrical for all the obvious reasons with the truth being that this is another generic, bland looking, esthetical hodgepodge, buggy and unfinished product of a game.

Some of us were calling it months ago but of course, the usual suspects (all 4-5 of them) would just ridicule such opinions and try to defend this like their life depended on it - why ? No one knows, personally, you'd have to pay me to pay such a generic looking title, nothing about it seems "right", from the awful art-direction that doesn't know what it is exactly or what's trying to achieve with its contrasting colours like someone smeared a Haribo bag on the screen, to the awful and almost unfinished animations, to the ugly as hell character models which look like something out of a Haribo loving furry nightmare, to the janky and weightless combat, to...you get the idea.

Now, to be (even more) honest, when that producer started that online drama, I knew that it was already over for this game, see, when you have faith in your product you let it speak for itself without trying to raise a shit storm revolving around politics something which, a very specific demographic doesn't seem to understand...

How the hell we have such a bland, technically incompetent game in the year of our Lord 2025 where it actually makes some 10+ year old Bethesda games actually look good in comparison is a feat in its friggin self...

Western development Really is retrograding - not to mention - fucked at this point.

I'm out

You should try watching the video, unfortunately the one on Avowed is not satire.

But it would be interesting to find out who wanted to whistleblow and sent him the key.

Dude your fucking avatar man... it's equally immensely distracting and at the same time fucking hilarious :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Rumor has it that Magic Randy can make an 8 ball disappear pretty quick

80 is a great score but we know that if a hyped game like Uncharted, GOW, Starfield or Zelda scores in the low 80s it means trouble. Without biases, this is a 70 at best, both technically and artistically.

Ok? That doesn't mean an 81 aggregate score is 'mid' though. The review scaling perception on forums is really fucked, lol.
Previous Obsidian RPG got an 85

Previous one was mid

New Obsidian RPG got an 80

New one is….. ?

You’re getting way too hung up on the number. People are comparing this to score the previous game got. Not to the set of all games, across all budgets, hype levels, genres, and reviewer friendliness.

BTW even freaking Veilguard has an 82. Do you think that “a couple points worse than Veilguard” = good? Oh wait no let me guess, now all of a sudden you’re going to say there’s more to it than just taking the # at face value.

What game isn’t good for gamepass?
What I mean is it's a good enough game to waste time on, but not a great game. So it's not a game I'd ever go out and buy by itself for 70 plus dollars, especially when there's a whole lot of other upcoming games. It is however a game I'll download and play since I'm subscribed to game pass.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
81 can definitely be mid when high profile games are guaranteed to score between 70 and 100.

Yes it is? Just asking this makes you look like a clueless newcomer to video games.

With opinions like this, that graph meme made a decade or so ago has been incredibly prophetic.

Opencritic labels 81 as a "Strong" reviewed game.
Metacritic labels 80 as a "Generally favorable" reviewed game.

But there's always some who might think anything below 90 is mid.

Request for future reviews, please warns us game hates men/is woke/DEI infested like this one.
If you care that much then you can assume that all games hate men/are woke/are DEI infested.
Final Fight - with those women who backflip over you and cause as much damage as the men when they hit you - woke. Guy gets friend zoned and turns into an incel - woke. Father rescues daughter she barely cares and runs off with her boyfriend - woke.
Tetris - with it making you fit bent and straight bits together to create a unified whole - super woke

I am pretty interested in trying it zero chance of me paying the $22 to play today for "- Up to 5 days early access- Premium Skin Packs: 2 sets of bonus skins for your companions- Access to Avowed Digital Artbook & Original Soundtrack" that's a no for me.

My man: Always lenient and neutral to woke flawed games
Neutral, yes. Lenient, no. I don't rate the games people consider woke on a different scale. That means I also don't simply dock points just because they have those elements. It's a lazy way of reviewing to me. As much as some here don't like the guy, Skillup had the right idea with his Veilguard review and if I were to point to any review as the standard of how to approach a review the correct way, it would be that video.
Also my man: Always harsh to me when I was being cheeky.
It's not just you, and I'm just speaking the truth, as I see it happen here all the time.

It would be just as bad as someone here treating a 7/10 JRPG as if it's a 10/10, just because it has a dedicated following...sort of like that one Pokemon game that came out not long ago. It's why that meme rating image above suddenly being taken very seriously is pretty funny to me.

80 is the score modern Ubisoft games orbitate, i don't need any other proof that any crap with high production values will be at this kind of range, reviewers are just too soft and scared of losing their privileges, so yeah, that scale is true.

80 itself is not a bad score but reading the room of currently high distrust to AAA gamea especially western games because of greed, dei or whatever and the price tag of 70$. 80 is not gonna cut it especially from a high profile studio.

Looking the reviews I think no one mentioned the story as the highlight but gameplay and exploration are the main draws. This is strange coming from Obsidian.

Maybe with Chris Avellone gone and Saywer not involved Obsidian just has no good lead writer left.

Colt Eastwood highly recommends

Man, that comments section is really something else...

-Known paid shill : "the game is great"
- everyone else : "it's the Sony fanboys hating, if it was on PS5 they'd give it a 9/10"

- Normal human being : " but it's also coming to PS5 ? "

It's a sad state of affairs and confirmation bias is a real thing, not to mention, the usual persecution complex.

These people and the ever idiotic console wars drama make me lose interest in this hobby of ours by each passing day.

There'd be an argument here if you weren't flat out wrong tho 🤷‍♂️

Going by Opencritic, the only notable released Ubisoft game that's touched 80 since 2020 is Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which was a damn good game and IMO should have been higher.

All the rest, the Outlaws, AC Mirages, Avatars, Far Cry 6, Crew Motorfest, XDefiant, Skull and Bones are all mid to low 70's.
