Batman v. Superman RT Thread: like standing ovations in rain

- Editing sucks, really sucks, it's perhaps the worst made movie I've ever seen. But people should see it. it's a story worth telling.

The way the scenes are stitched together you mean. On a scene to scene basis it's pretty remarkably well made. But the editing is awful.

There are worse edited films though. And films that, while not as haphazardly edited, have much worse pacing. X-Men 3, for instance, has perhaps the worst pacing of any high-profile film I've seen.

Ehh not sure what moment in particular you are referring to.

The part when the music goes from 2 to 11 in the space of a second, at 0:29 in the video you linked.

Watching the film that happens just as
he picks up the spear
. It didn't feel like the music built into the drama, it just sped up.

Just finished. Quick impressions before i dive in later.

My initial reaction is meh but had some great parts. It's different so it's hard to swallow it all down. Felt like an incomplete movie.

Better than Deadpool? Wat

And shit, Iron Man 2 is more enjoyable than BvS. Hell, Man of Steel, Amazing Spider-Man and a few others are even better. Honestly, BvS is in my personal bad tier regarding superhero movies. Shit tier is only reserved for Green Lantern, every Fantastic Four movie and Wolverine Origins.

In my view, being a "real fan" means you can understand criticisms and hope that the production team will improve them. There are Marvel movies I'm not big on, but I wouldn't go around and accuse critics of having an agenda. If no one says anything, the genre can't improve as a whole.
I'm a DC guy through and through. I just cant understand the defensiveness over this movie. Im embarrassed by this monstrosity, I wanted a good movie and instead we got this thing. It's not representative of the great things these characters are and can be in comics. Theyre just bastardizations by an egomaniac and board room full of accountants.

Never felt so disconnected from an audience before. Standing ovation.

I looked at my buddy and did the scrunchy chin, "...eh...it wasn't as bad as the critics said"

5/10

Am I incorrect in the assumption that 70mm is higher quality and "resolution" than iMax?

I think the resolution is the same (they're both 65mm film for the actual picture) but IMAX has a taller / "bigger" aspect ratio.

I'm just guessing here but I assume a 70mm showing of BvS is going to maintain the same aspect ratio but will look significantly clearer for the scenes shot in IMAX.

And I think this is where my dislike comes from too.

It's a mediocre movie that delves into being bad closer to the end (with the shit editing, awful plot and mostly crap characters), but what I dislike most about it is how it took iconic moments and characters from my favourite comics and butchered them. That's aside from already being a generally poor movie.

Never felt so disconnected from an audience before. Standing ovation.

Again, was it an actual standing ovation, or was it just clapping as people got up to leave.

The screening I went to just ended and nobody really reacted. No clapping, just bewilderment. Yet, my brother (who went to another screening earlier in the day) said there was a "standing ovation" at the end of his screening.

I have to put on my conspiracy tinfoil hat and wonder if this is some narrative being pushed by fans in order to make the reception of the movie better than it really is.

Superhero films Batman v. Superman is better than:

- Spider-man 3
- Amazing Spider-man 1 & 2
- X-men Last Stand
- Deadpool
- Fantastic 4 (all 3 of them)
- Dark Knight Rises
- Batman Forever
- Batman and Robin
- Iron Man 2 & 3
- Ant-Man
- Superman Returns
- Daredevil

Wow!
I'd rather watch all of these movies three times in a row each than watch BvS again. Not only is it horrendously written, it's a slog to get through and painfully boring. Batman and Superman fighting was the only legitimately great part of the film and that lasted 5 minutes.

so Xmen Apoc is now guaranteed to be good to balance out the shit right?

Wasn't it always? I mean, side characters will be used for scenery, effects will be terrible, let's not even talk about the costumes or Jlaw... but, it will tell a story, you'll understand it, even maybe connect with it and sympathize with the heroes; leave the theater satisfied.

You know, you just watched a movie!

Critics gave it a 5.1 lol.

I feel like every comic book movie post tdk except:

TDKR
Dofp
Cap 2
Guardians
Iron man 1
Iron Man 3

Should have an average rating of 6 or below tbh. There are good moments in many of them but they all end up feeling very generic and mediocre too, which is exactly what a 6 should be seen as. Too forgiving. This is definitely a 5, but that puts it over a number of these films and below some as well

Yep!
At least there's something to laugh at in those films.

A few months ago my roommate came home from the bar with some buddies and convinced us all to get stoned and watch Batman and Robin, because he was convinced it would be hilarious.

If you ever want to see a movie with absolutely zero redeeming features, B&R is the gold standard.

It's doesn't even work as a comedy like The Room does.

So I just got back from watching the movie, it was okay. It's not a terrible movie and I can see how some people might really like it, to me it was kind of boring.

I do have to say this though: after the movie was over two guys a few rows down from me stood up and clapped. Granted it was not a prolonged clap but it was very clear that their intention was to give it a standing ovation. I have never, ever, seen this before. I think they must be GAFers and were being sarcastic.

The rest of the audience made a beeline for the exit, lol.
