Chris Dring: Microsoft was the No.1 games publisher in the world last month | 64% of spend on Microsoft games in December came on PlayStation devices

Nintendo Switch 2 is going to be released soon. It's a big win for Microsoft in this case.
I'm intrigued to see what MS do about Minecraft on the Switch 2 if the original version still works. That's a lot of lost sales of people not buying it because they have the Switch 1 version.

Time and time again this forum has been bitching and whining about Microsoft. But when I said multiple times that going 3rd party was a win for everyone and that they were going to be the biggest publisher around, I was laughed at.

Without Microsoft Sony players (me included) have almost nothing to look forward too. Everybody wins here.

People put too much stock in Nintendo.

I give them 2 generations before they screw up so badly and come crawling to Gabe.

Microsoft Gaming is basically joined to the hip to Sony at this point. I legit expected the PC percentage to be higher or at least equal given all the bluster about "who needs a PS5 Pro etc".

At this point, it really behooves the MS Gaming management team to fucking behave with their single biggest gaming trading partner.

I’m looking forward to plenty of games without the Microsoft stamp on them.

- Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Yotei, Wolverine, GTA VI, Heretic…. To name a few a few. Without PlayStation, this topic wouldn’t exist.

And what's the profitability behind those numbers? Something tells me those incoming quarterly results are going to tell an uncomfortable story.
We won't see profit figures anyway, but with selling less hardware the revenue takes a hit but profit would be improved.

Well then, it seems that MS weren't actually exaggerating back when they wanted to buy ABK. Their numbers must've been absolutely dire back then.

Isn't this going to complicate next gen?
With This dependency on Sony players Xbox will have to release launch games on both consoles for them to be profitable, and Sony will have to give them devkits before the consoles release in order for the ports to be ready, and Sony probably doesn't like that idea very much.

Maybe that’s because there will be no next gen Xbox

All this data shows, is that Playstation is key to Xbox success going forward.

With 64% spending coming from Playstation, Xbox can't afford to lose them.

They're royally fucked.

Pretty much the garbage replies I expected about positive Xbox strategy news here on GAF.

I continue to look forward to more Xbox publishing and hardware.

Stand strong brother, we are out numbered but we are the ones that see clear and know Xbox are winning at all times, we got gamepass, we got the most powerfull console and the only problem is we have to many games. Its nice that Microsoft can see the lack of games on other platforms and feel sorry for the people that have been tricked into buying the consoles, as a nice gesture we drip feed out old games for them to play. Look forward to the next hardwear from team Xbox, a machine that will change gaming forever 🟢💪.

But goddamn 64% from PS alone was higher than I expected.
That's the shocking part, especially considering that Indiana Jones, their big Dec release, wasn't launched on PS.

That Spencer/Bond/Booty team that wanted to keep COD on PS for 3 years only?

The one that kept publicly fucking with their biggest trading partner (just off the top of my head, you got Bond kvetching about Wukong, Spencer throwing shade at PS5 Pro in interviews..etc)..

.. That leadership team needs to be shot out of a cannon ASAP because they are clearly dumb and don't know where their bread is actually buttered.

At this rate, MS Gaming will end up being excluded from enjoying the early access to next-gen PS dev kits that ABK used to enjoy.

How are they royally fucked when they are earning money? And big time?
It's pretty clear.

If the 64% from Playstation is an indication of how things will be going from here, imagine if they lose Playstation as a platform

I highly doubt shareholders would be happy about that.

Xbox is a console, even if they try to tell you "this is an Xbox". MicroSoft Gaming, on the other hand...
Genius of Phil to make himself head of that position and not Xbox Gaming.
